Summer DLC Speculation 2023

Pack possibilities -

Children's Zoo/Education Pack
Islands
Highlands
Desert/Drylands
Tundra
Treetop/Arboreal/Jungle
Woodlands

With the mighty Red River Hog and Lar Gibbon crossed off, my big ticket wishlist items are birds (Ducks!!! Grey Crowned Crane!!! Parrots!!!), more monkeys, a porcupine, dwarf goats, American black bear, Pallas cats, rock hyrax, a habitat turtle, and the ever ellusive saiga. Odds are heavily against me getting them all, but I'm excited to see what Frontier has in store for us. Even if the animals aren't on my personal wishlist the models are sure to be great.

For scenery, I'm hoping for more plants, glass paths, playgrounds, and a carousel at some point.

I've noticed that the biome themed packs like Wetlands, Grasslands and now Tropical Packs seems to balances and/or compensates their reflective pack types; like the Tropical Pack seems to cover the SE Asian architecture and some of the missing animals for SE Asia animal pack and others. Could the potential "Drylands" themed pack be an animal pack to balance Africa and Australia Packs?

Probably Africa but not Australia. The only essential uastrlian desert animal left is the echidna which is more associated with Woodlands and tropic anyway. While there are so many Australian animals I still want they're pretty much all temperate and tropical animals.

I really want the greater bilby which is a desert animal, I have some living on the property i am caretaking right now, and I'm involved with the local bilby conservation group and program, but I don't see frontier adding them. If it's not there by the time official game support ends, I'm open to mods.

I honestly think theyd work pretty well with the armadillo rig. If we don't get them that is.

Lets hope we get an easter bilby next spring :D

I mean its only natural that new packs expand and compliment existing content. Its probably not specifically intended by the devs but just bound to happen

Warmth seems likely, but I wouldn’t consider dry to be a necessity. Last year’s conservation pack took a very warm approach in its promotional art and trailers, but was much more focused on lushness than the previous two warm and dry years. Basically I wouldn’t count islands out just yet, for as equally likely as deserts feels.

Still chances for both, while it was largely expected to be a rainforest/tropical pack for spring it's up to heavy debate what exactly lies for the rest of the year

I Mean assuming this is the last year of support, this spring would have been the time for a petting/domestic pack. That is why I don't give it a high chance. Lets just hope there are more years of support coming...

Yeah a petting zoo pack would be really weird as like one of the last 2 packs. And while its not something that is really high on my wishlist, i see a lot of people wanting one and id be happy if they get it eventually. Not getting it this spring might even indicate another year of support in 2024 but who knows

I'm hopeful for something bird-related. Not necessarily flying birds, which I'm sure will be relegated entirely to the Walkthrough Exhibit if they eventually make it into the game, but larger habitat birds (or birds that could function as habitat animals in terms of the game). It might be too many new models for Frontier, though.

I'd like to see these added;
  • Some kind of pelican, preferably great white (new rig).
  • Himalayan monal (peafowl rig).
  • Grey crowned crane (red-crowned crane/flamingo rig).
  • North Island brown kiwi (ratite rig).
  • Mute swan (new rig).
Other potential additions could include the Darwin's rhea, American flamingo, and little blue penguin for 'clone' species, and the exhibit animal could be anything really, but I really want the rainbow lorikeet.

DESERT/ARID AREAS ANIMAL PACK
  • Addax (CR)
  • Dama Gazelle (CR)
  • Saiga Antelope (CR)
  • Sand Cat (LC)
  • Greater Roadrunner (LC)
  • Indian Wild Donkey (NT)
  • Coyote (LC)
  • Thorny Devil (LC) [exhibit]
I love your line-up but I would definitely replace the coyote (basically a small wolf) with a Bat-eared Fox (my most wanted animal!) Also, the saiga and roadrunner aren't common in captivity although I like them...

Well, next summer some people will be complaining about:
  • the dromedary being a lazy reskin of the camel and a wasted slot
  • the peccary being another pig and the wrong species of peccary
  • Frontier adding another cat or dog with the sand cat or coyote
  • the baboon not being a primate from South America
  • the addax being another boring African ungulate that adds nothing new to the game
  • one of the many porcupine's quills being a tad short
  • the mara killing the option to have a rabbit in the future
  • the missing chance of adding flying birds in the perfect DLC for including birds (for the 14th time in a row)

I will only complain about not having an Eurasian brown bear 🐻

Oh I can imagine that too. But, as we all know, the irony is that these people would still buy the DLCs cuz that's what people do. :ROFLMAO:

When you put it like that it does sound kind of ridiculous, but yeah, it is so very true. Cant win either way.

I totally get why people would have prefer different choices, it is a valid criticism, although I feel this DLC get criticised a bit too harshly. All the animals except the Monitor perhaps WERE highly requested after all.
And then there is me, just being glad we get more animals, lol. (I certainly have my own preferences for animal picks, but I am trying to be possitive about the future of the game).

With the fossa in this pack, I don't see islands happening anymore.
Why not? Can't understand this argument at all. There are still plenty of options for such a pack. The fossa can easily be replaced by any other island animal, maybe even another Madagascar animal like the sifaka.

Idea for an Islands Animal Pack:
1. Tasmanian devil as the headliner
2. Goodfellow's tree kangaroo
3. Kiwi
4. Sifaka
5. Javan langur
6. Carribean flamingo
7. Walrus
8. Panther chameleon (E) or rainbow lorikeets (WE)

Also possible: Japanese serow, musk ox, Sulawesi crested macaque, Javan banteng, Lowland anoa, Sumatran tiger, ...
So quite a few quite popular options.

Now tell me again it's unrealisitic to see an islands animal pack happening.
