New 25 essential habitat animals META-WISHLIST

It’s the final result that matters now and unfortunately the votes were changed because some of you decided that two toed sloth is the more realistic version for zoo’s. And those are the facts and this is the truth 🤷🏽

For me that kind of actions are biased and unacceptable. It’s interfering into the authenticity of votes and it’s should not have taken place. Ever.

Nobody ever asked people of generic votes what kind of sloth they’ve chosen so votes for certain species should stay separated from generic votes. Especially in the case of such a hot topic as sloth.

I understand how much work you must have put into this project and I’m sorry if my opinion hurt your feelings. It was not not my intention.

But honestly it was was not something you should have done in the first place. It’s not for us to decide for which species more than 100 people have put their votes 🤷🏽

What are you even mad about? "Your" sloth won a spot in game and now they are off the list because they are exhibit species.

They have been open about how the voting was done this whole time, why react to it now when it doesn't even matter anymore?

Sorry, but that is Just not true. I do not really mind which sloth we got. I am just happy we got one. But from day 1 of this list it was Said that non-specific votes are going to the concrete species which has the most specific votes. In case of the Sloth it was Just the case that the Two-Toed Sloth passed the Three-Toed Sloth one time. And according to the rules of the list the votes afterwards changed. I do not see any unfair changes or something like that.

1. I am not mad at all. I am just expressing my point of view just as anybody is allowed.
2. It’s not “my” sloth. I am happy with three toed because it’s more recognizable but I would be happy with any.
3. Manipulating with votes it’s just something I could not accept and it should not happen.
4. Post on the forum is not being open. I don’t wanna think that votes would be changed on and on because someone decides to do that. I don’t read every page on this thread.
5. Majority people I know when they voted for “generic sloth” they wanted the three toed sloth.
6. I would just like to ask everybody involved in creating lists to think twice before making things like that in the future. Me as a forum member, planet zoo fan, meta wishlist participant and simply your distant colleague just don’t feel good with that and I don’t think it was a right thing to do.

I agree. This has always been very clearly communicated by RG. Not sure what the fighting is about in any case, because the 3 toed sloth is in. It literally does not matter lol.

Uh .. how generic votes worked was only clear later on 😅 I remember because I explicitly asked about it when I saw general votes in others' lists, when I had been struggling in my list to pick specific species when I really didn't particularly care and I just wanted a general animal type in. That was how it was when the list started, you had to pick a specific species.

Just my two cents.

I realize RandomGoat hasn't updated in a while due to time constraints and that's totally understandable. It's a major undertaking! Assuming any to be counted votes did not move animal rankings in the top spots too much, the top 10 would look something like:

Tasmanian Devil
African Crested Porcupine
Linnaeus's Two Toed Sloth
Secretary Bird
Wolverine
South American Coati
Walrus
Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroo
Black Howler Monkey
Musk Ox

Hamadryas Baboon is right under there depending on if SlothGate is taken into account as being counted or not.

That's three animals we got out of there, and possibly a fourth. I wonder what will come next. It feels like we've been hungering for the Tasmanian Devil for nearly a year now.

This is our 3rd DLC with the Tasmanian devil at the top of the metawishlist, so no matter when it's added in the future it will have been at least a year since it took the top spot.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well, that it took the top spot after Conservation. I think the Crested Porcupine was also at #3 at that point, and moved to 2 after Grasslands? I mean, these are two very heavily requested animals that have been in the near top spots for a long long time, comparative to the game's lifespan.

Well I do have some Monkey suggestions.

  1. Emperor Tamarin
  2. Golden Lion Tamarin
  3. Silvery Marmoset
  4. Tufted Capuchin
  5. Golden-Bellied Capuchin
  6. Common Squirrel Monkey
  7. Gray-Bellied Night Monkey
  8. Bald Uakari
  9. White-Tailed Titi
  10. Vieira's Titi
  11. Allen's Swamp Monkey
  12. Common Patas Monkey
  13. Green monkey or Sabaeus monkey
  14. Vervet monkey
  15. Blue monkey
  16. Lion-tailed macaque
  17. Southern pig-tailed macaque
  18. Rhesus macaque
  19. Moor macaque
  20. Olive baboon
  21. Kinda baboon
  22. Northern plains gray langur
  23. Nilgiri langur
  24. Tonkean macaque
  25. golden snub-nosed monkey

The Problem is not whether you agree or not, it is your claims about the Incentive behind the changes. The changes were not made "in our own favor and preference" like you claim, but to make the Meta-Wishlist as Transparent, Fair and Unbiased as possible. If one Species gets 50 Votes and the other 70, and you add the Generic Votes on top of the one that received 50 Votes, that's exactly what Bias and "in one's own favor and preference" is. The change was made in intention to fix that Bias.

As for which Sloth is really the most Popular in the Community, if Three-Toed was really that Popular, then you'd assume it would get at least 1-2 Votes in the 2023 List, which has some 45-50 Votes for all Sloths in total (with more than Half being Direct Two-Toed Votes). But this wasn't the case, as there wasn't a single Vote for Three-Toed in anybody's top 25 until after the last Update in March. In contrast Two-Toed always had Comparable amount of Votes on Random Goat's Thread when it was trailing behind. That's pure Statistics there for you. It makes you question why Three-Toed was ever leading in the first place. Quite suspicious if you ask me.

Looking at the top 10 Forests seem to be the most likely theme for an animal pack: tassie, treeroo, howler, wolverine and coati.

But we normally get only 1-3 high ranked animals at once. So I would not conclude from the Ranking to the theme.
Yeah 3-4 lately. So for me is looking like forests or deserts. The other 3-4 might be from under 50 like most of the oddball choices of the last packs.

Now we got 3 but this Changes from Pack to Pack
Tropical: 3
Grasslands: 2
Twilight: 1(? I am Not Sure If even the Wombat was Top 10)
Conservation: 2
Wetlands: 1 (? Not Sure which Ranking the Platypus had)

But I am somehow convinced that Frontier first decides the thematic of the Pack and after that Looks which animals could fit in there more or less. Woodlands or Drylands (Shrublands) could surely happen but 2 of the last 3 Pack were more or less thematically forest-like. So I could Imagine a Woodlands Pack later in time.

Oh yeah i don't mean that the 3 or 4 are in the top 10, but they are in the top of the list (top 25 most of them). Platypus and wombat were in the top 10 at the time yeah.
Twilight pack was an exception tbh... and it shows by the reception in this forum (myself included lol)

Grasslands got 2 in the top 10 but a wallaby was highly requested as well, and the caracal was in the top 30. The siamang in the Conservation pack pretty much was the choice for a gibbon species which was in the top of the list (which they added now with the Tropical pack).

Wetlands added platypus, small clawed otter and capybara, all of them high in the list and a non-ratite non-penguin bird for the first (and apparently last) time.

So yeah maybe not all animals in the top 10 will feature in one pack but looking at them you kind of can make a guess of the kind of packs they could be part of, and they are basically forests, deserts and tundra? (maybe).

Highlands could also Work when I Look also to the Top 20 or 30. I must say that I have the feeling that all animal Packs after we left the continents will be called Whatever-lands now. I know there were just 2 but it is a bit noticable that all Scenery Packs had more broad themed names whereas the animal Packs were called Wetlands and Grasslands.
But Perhaps we are in the wrong thread to discuss this further and it would be better to move on with that to the Summer DLC discussion 😀🙂
