Discovery Scanner - 27.03.2023

It'll be back to the good old days of "featured commanders" now and then, as we celebrate cool stuff happening in the Galaxy and will simply be posted as and when we have bumper editions (it'd still be lovely to do that kind of thing weekly, but all naturally depends on what's going on out there).
Now, that is what I call delivering!

Let's change this up from here on out.

I'm going to shuffle up Discovery Scanner.
It'll no longer be classed or assumed a "news outlet", to save you all the potential of frustration.

We'll post informative, "full, game development news only", and class it as such when we have it, with no weekly recaps or reassurance posts - just deliver you straight facts when we have them, to help - again - prevent frustration - so Commanders, it will be a strict case of "No news is good news" in many cases.

I'll look to factor in progress reports on issues and other notable topics, perhaps into Frameshift Live or a bespoke article when possible to do so - absolutely understand that those kind of information nuggets and progress reports are highly desirable, for good reason. We can also provide update reassurance as part of livestreams and larger scale news communication where suitable too.

Right!

Let's do this o7

Thanks everyone!

Why are you doing this because of a couple of moaning posts?

A couple? There are some who only moan, for years...

Planning, obviously, they have to keep the regulars busy.
Planning? No no, this was my decision from not just today’s feedback but general vibes simmering for a time, to attempt to better refine things for you all on a whole.

We can try this and see how it goes! I want to make sure I channel Monday morning efforts in the right direction o7

Speaking about bugs ... I was thinking today evening about what to play, and decided for ED. Reached one of systems in Post-Thargoid recovery state and accepted one Settlements reactivation mission which is one from limited ways how to support humans in war on foot. Arrived to destination and found that settlement is "activated" ... followed abandoning of mission and I ve get a fine which however was not displayed. I needed to restart a game and only then I was able to see and pay a fine. One for me "game breaking" and one "old annoying" bug during a short gameplay. I ve paid the fine, closed the game and will not touch it for some time, very likely till update 15. ... @sallymorganmoore this above is kind of exact example of what have big potential to kill old players interest to return playing this game and/or support Frontier.

I have a suggestion, why not make it somewhat interactive and post a question or poll of the week? It can be anything you think fits; serious, trivial or just as a joke. It could be good to use to get some feedback on stuff like cosmetic item gaps, favorite systems, ships etc.. maybe even have an ongoing name the system poll for populated systems that have names like NCS-1Ad-Cn04. I don't know, maybe something to consider?

I think this kind of thing is great!
And for anyone who isn’t a fan, there’s no obligation to read or join in of course.

Still extremely connected and familiar with how there are very many ways discussed by many of you, that experiences in the Galaxy could be fixed up and improved.

We will keep on doing what we can to appreciate the vast range of sentiment that comes along to us, research and champion things forward.

The teams are always kept updated and aware and we will (albeit a steady process sure) make as much progress with things as we can.

MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH : Frontier Developments LLC generously provides us with a fresh recap of all the vague things that were discussed last week. Assuring their valued players that they are committed to providing effective, committed and consistently vague information on a weekly basis, by reminding us to not forget and check out the actual vague things, they talked about.

We accept this tithe. Godspeed Frontier. Godspeed.
If you're desperate for attention you just have to ask, you know.

Well here is an example for you: I have zero interest in "the war" and so I was going to go exploring in the Formidine Rift ... BUT - we still have invisible planets in supercruise ... so instead I em enjoying MSFS2020. One example of how a single long-ignored bug introduced ages ago can totally spoil a game*.

EDIT: * for some

I genuinely wish everybody playing the game well, but I prefer to play solo and have almost zero interest in community news. So keeping Game news separate from Community news would suit me. But I don't think that touches on the underlying issue which is that Frontier seem to be drifting back to the "You ain't seen me, right?!" approach, in other words, keeping the players largely uninformed. Ultimately, you guys being given nothing to say, but still allocating yourselves a space in which to say nothing, is approximately just as frustrating as a total blank. I don't think the above is really addressing anything.

On the subject, who's bright idea was it to prevent players from partaking in consecutive settelment combat battles without being transported (in the Star Trek sense) back to the station. Why can't you stick around for an hour of combat or more without dragged away from it by Frontier. "No, that's quite enough of that - you were having far too much fun."

I essentially moved on until this very moment, I'm not quite versed on fishing terms, but fish tend to fall for bait before getting caught. Therefore making your question a bit......awkward....
