🐾Planet Zoo: Tropical Pack arriving 4 April🐾

Just realised the perfect combo for the sloths 🤣

Okay, so when the pack was revealed I was at a conference and therefor didn't really have the time to give an initial reaction the the reveal.

Now that the embargo has dropped I just want to say that this pack has without a doubt found its way into my list of must-buy packs. The animals all look absolutely beautiful, the gibbons swing like never before and the red river hog has easily become one of my most beloved animals in the game.

But most of all, I want to address something that was mentioned here on the forums quite a lot. I know a few people said that these pieces were too themed and that this a zoo game and not a theme park game. Let me start by saying that I do understand and agree with the idea that this game could use a lot more generic pieces. However.

I really tried my best to showcase that this pack can be used for very generic and even classical zoo architecture. Regardless of the fact that South-East Asian theming is quite common among the more themed areas in zoos (Zoo Tampa, Animal Kingdom, Pairi Daiza, Planckendael, Los Angeles, San Diego, Denver Zoo etc. to name a few), a very large chunk of all the pieces we got in this pack are very flexible and work really well to make all kinds of things. It's not just themed stuff you can do with it, there's a lot here.

I hope I was able to convince some people and was able to alleviate some of the worries people had about the pieces; if that's not the case that's completely okay as everyone is allowed to have their own opinions. But if you were worried/hesitant about the pack because the pieces feel too themed, please don't be, you'll more than likely enjoy them a hell of a lot!

Anywho, I hope you are all excited for the pack, I know that I've been hyped for these past few days and I really hope all of you will too. And to all the devs working on Planet Zoo, well done on yet another amazing pack 👏

I watched some of the videos and it seems the videos confirm my initial thoughts:

The good:
-The animals are fantastic (although I'm confused on why the red river hog has the aquatic biome and no water requirement)
-We finally get a new sapling tree after a very long time. We want more saplings!
-The building pieces look useful

The not so good:
-I expected more foliage. I wanted at least a big tree.
-No null staff path
-No sloth babies 😢

Can't wait for tomorrow

Me too. I don't understand why river hog has the aquatic biome. It is odd.

I just want to say thank you PZ team for letting Gibbons brachiate not only on the lianas, but also on the rope pieces. This have really made my day.

The only tiny gripes I have from what I have seen:
  • No enrichment items again makes me sad, it was always one of my favourite things in the packs and to see none new added while there could still be things like water slides, leaf piles and other amazing things. Even reskinned things like the dog chew toy reskinne to a branch or more natural scratching trees would make me happy.
  • Sad that the female River Hogs seems a little blunt in colour next to the males. There is not a sexual dimorphism regarding colour in them in real life as far as I can say.
  • Sloths are implemented nicely, but still, the exhibit box is just too huge for anything other than a walkthrough. I want to be able to also build normal exhibit with glass for them, but with exhibit this size, it is simply too unrealistic.
Like I said, I love the pack, just wanted to provide a bit of constructive feedback to the team, but amazing job nonetheless.
