🐾Planet Zoo: Tropical Pack arriving 4 April🐾

Has the monitor actually been confirmed? Because it can be that nobody has actually tested it.
Only tomorrow's notes will tell is everything

I saw Asian monitor deep diving in some video (I don't remember whose, sorry)

Oh sorry you were asking about the Nile monitor, never mind

I found the point raised in the dev journal very interesting around the sloths moving so slowly that due to the simulation structure in a habitat it would struggle to meet its needs without always being on the ground, and they made the choice for the WE in part to keep it climbing. 🦥

This perhaps explains why Koalas are more on the ground and don’t spend a lot of time climbing. In hindsight would Koalas have worked better in a WE like the sloths? 🐨
I think so but it's not a very popular opinion to have 😅

Any other cool foliage than the rafflesia and pitcher? Did we get any new flowers?
Not really any other colorful tropical foliage other than the 2 you mentioned. Lots of new ferns, ground vines (like a green sprouting plant), a Cecropia sapling, small palms, and the pitcher plant (the main plant of the pitcher would be the best flower kind of foliage in the pack).

After seeing Leaf's video on the new items, I'm even more excited for the pack.
  • It seems like Planet Zoo has gotten more and more realistic. First with the dynamic mossy rocks and later the faux rocks. Especially with the Europe pack and the decals, this was clear, but now with the new flexicolour wood and stone pieces it's even more clear how much Frontier is moving from a more cartoon-like to realistic experience.
  • I've said it before, but Frontier also deserves all the praise for their improvements in representing cultures. Comparing the Europe and Indonesia theme with the South America theme from years ago, it's clear that a giant leap has been made here and all for the best.
  • While I love having a theme for Southeast Asia, I'm also surprised at how versatile most of these items will be. I'm sure we will see much of it used for non-themed areas in non-Indonesian zoos and that's great.

With all of this, I have only two main criticisms, which are mostly due to the lack of some specific items:
  • While I love the themed statues, I feel like it would have been more accurate to also have a hog, fossa, gibbon and monitor body part. Now we're kinda restricted in making snakes/dragons and human bodies, while a small number of extra parts could've given much more flexibility.
  • I absolutely adore the new wood textures and will probably use them everywhere. However, I'm a bit disappointed they're not turned into a construction set with grid items, which would allow for much easier use in some contexts.

I am really happy that the fossa look so good. Frontier know how to make carnivores realistic finally, haha.
