Arc points for explorers - The big rip off

E.g. I have just found an unexplored system with 32 objects (mostly a mixture of ice moons/planets with a few metal rich and a water world) I spent several hours exploring every object and how many arcs did I get for my efforts... The grand total of 3
Have you actually turned in your exploration data to Universal Cartographics at your nearest station? Sounds to me like you should be getting more than that (I know I do).

Anyway, the big ARX for exploration (I'm not counting exobiology here, but only cartopgraphics) happen if you scan lots and lots of systems, and especially if you get "first to discover" and "first to scan" accolades (although those are not necessary to get a good payout).

(Of course if you really want to max out your weekly ARX bonus, you would do exobiology.)

I havent played for several years now. Did I at least earn decent arx for nott playing? Otherwise I'd really feel nn ripped off unfairly.

Nah, kidding - why would I care for yet ANOTHER bloody collection currency in ED? It's not like that crap wasnt already part of the game in overabundance.

I just wanted to butt in that True Explorers pool their data. scnr. Fly safe! :)

I share my data via the in-game actions of selling it & leaving tags, and make use of the shared in-game codex.

Here's some stats to help you see how much explo data I haven't shared on external sites:

There is no single definition of a 'true explorer' and no reasonable person would claim to be a 'true' anything, it is a logical fallacy.

Ninja exploring is being frowned upon. You're not contributing anything to the community, almost 50k systems unaccounted for.

Who are these people that consider just playing the game without using external tools to be frowned upon?

I sell my data to support factions, which makes me a force to support or oppose within the community. Ninja exploring seems like it's intended as an insult, but considering that I do it in open I think your definition of 'ninja' is narrow and idiotic. I play in a holistic way.

You, and people like you are the reason why there are such big holes in the databases and people have to waste time looking at already explored systems.
My definition is the correct one. But that might be too high for you to grasp, considering you can't even figure out why you should use the community tools, while you're just leeching off the information others have provided.

Your view is idiotic. I don't use third party tools. I'm not leeching off anything.

It is reasonable and understandable that contributing to a community pool is encouraged. The idea that not contributing is frowned upon is bigoted nonsense.

In a similar way, I am an advocate for open play. While exploring I can track friends (and they can track me) on the galaxy map, the actual risk is minimal but the chances of meeting someone, anyone, are improved. There is (or should be) no stigma attached to not exploring in open though, because that would be stupid.

Your attitude is idiotic. You only want to take and not give anything in return. Playing in open or closed has absolutely no relevance to where the exploration data goes.
Of course you would keep denying this, because you're trying to defend your indefensible position.

What happened to 'blaze your own trail'?
3rd party apps are optional, no need to get all worked up if someone doesn't like to use them. 🤷‍♂️

If you're into ARX, go fighting Thargoids for 2 hours, preferably at a planetary port where the Interceptors have no swarms and there's a team of CMDRs to help you fighting the common 2 Hydras and all kinds of stuff, quite entertaining for a while and I really mean it. And then go exploring wherever you want and don't care anymore about rewards. That's how I do it. Oh, ARX it was. 400 guaranteed, plus 200m+ creds each round.

O7,
🙃

The premise of the thread is that the ARX target requires more time/work to meet while out in the black. There are lots of ways to earn it more quickly in populated space, and selling the accumulated data each week (on a carrier or returning to populated systems) helps significantly with that anyway.

And it's an 800ARX cap per week (400 for live, 400 for legacy).

To answer some queries from other posts. I don't use any 3rd party tools in any way, shape or form.
For my game play I just decide on a direction to explore and see where it takes me, then after a while, I'll head back and trade in my exploration data at one or more stations that I just happen across, I don't have any loyalty to any particular faction when it comes to exploration. On occasions I have explored from my FC when I want to look further afield, I then usually trade any data via my FC.

This comment just about sums up my original point, in that ARX's for explorers needs to be bought more into line with other activities. In hindsight I probably should have included mining as well in my original post.
