Apparently its going around....Can't play the game, I'm getting the endless login/create account loop, so dang frustrating!
I just came to check the forums because I'm having the same issue.
Hope it gets fixed soon...

Sarcastic comments about Steam deleted as someone would claim I was trying to turn this into a Necro thread.
In the game last night I have almost finished the five bio world I mentioned which is going to earn less than the single Strata I found in the previous system.
I often wonder why people go the Steam route into games. I avoid it, personally, but I'm sure there're viable reasons.

It's the huuuge selection of games - and the sales / discounts, which make it possible to get a taste of some of the more expensive / "AAA" titles on a budget, even if it is some time after launch... it's been a blessing imho :]
*also they do localised pricing (if devs are amenable to it - Frontier fortunately are) which is a further blessing to those of us with much weaker currencies than the USD/GBP/Euro

Yep me too, on both sides - so i'm not sure what i managed to accomplish in terms of "power struggle", but i did walk away allied to both of the conflict factions

...orders from the top, apparently - though i'm wondering why it was the higher-ups in the Empire instructing the local Federal faction (and vice versa) to pull up their socks & stop being silly while there's a real war on... shouldn't it have been a "cease & desist" demand instead? ...which is apparently what all the fuss & bother was about in the first place ;]

I joined Steam shortly after it came out, so.... lots of years ago. My first purchase was in 2007. It was Tomb Raider Anniversary
At the time I was buying my games on CDs (remember those?), and I was always losing the CD Keys one way or another. I often had to uninstall a game for a while, to play something else. Then when I'd go to reinstall it, I couldn't find the keys.
Steam offered a way out of this. I could have all my games, in one place, installed or not, and never forget the keys again.
The result is that I have a huge library of games on Steam now -- 335 games! And I don't have to remember any of the keys
But Steam isn't good for everything. Especially not for ED. There are too many update and logging problems. I'm not sure why, but ED does not play well with Steam.
I originally bought ED from Steam, but fortunately for me I bought it before they locked it up (nowadays if you buy on Steam you must login using Steam).
So I don't use Steam for ED at all, and thus avoid all those problems.

It's this too! ...especially when old, favourite games have original CD/DVD installers that are now incompatible with OS versions and sometimes system architecture even (eg: UT2004 Mac Edition*, which was originally compiled for PowerPC, then later patched up to run on Intel...) ...i know that if it is on Steam and listed as compatible with my platform in question, it will be up to date and run well - Steam also allows one to register previously bought games and install/play them via Steam without having to rebuy them btw

That's awesome - I've just about 100... just really wish i had more time to play them all
I've actually been mostly OK using the Steam version, apart from a few login hiccups, which were solved by re-entering EDO login details basically - might be because i don't run any extensions / haven't modded my HUD/UI colours even? 3rd party mods might cause trouble here unfortunately...
