No Single Player offline Mode then?

I've actually just made a to-camera video attempting to explain why this matters to me. I feel it's the only way to hopefully have people understand. And I'm not asking Frontier to change their mind, it's actually more about my views not being respected now more than anything, while being expected to respect theirs.

Share the link pls :)

A company that is in a failing state has promised to release server side software. From company in the midst of funding has reneged on a promise to provide offline play?

Let me get my head around that.

Could you explain it, as I really don't get what you are saying. They said in case if ED shuts down they will look at possibility to release server software so game can live on. They can't release that software now because project is well and kicking. Which part of that is hard to understand?

That's the problem. People keep assuming it's about the internet connection and NOT about the failure/shutting down of the servers in the future. That future being when earnings per share don't dictate keeping the game running when the horsepower in almost any game box is there to run the server side too for a single player.

So what ... move onto the next game. Jesus, act like Elite is the be-all-and-end-all .... have you built it up so much in your mind that there's nothing outside of it. Maybe before the servers go down you'll learn guitar, have a child, get knocked down by a bus (heaven forbid), get into writing, move to a country with no electricity.

There are lots of if's and but's in the finite propositioned that is life. And if you don't just enjoy what's in front of you ... what's offered in that moment. Well, you're doomed to spending your life not enjoying the moment. Just worrying how the moment might, just might, turn against you.

Is rejection a common theme in your life?

Greetings, this is my first (and probably only) post.

Back when Frontier Developments announced the Elite: Dangerous kickstarter, I got excited as Elite II: Frontier is probably the game I've played second most (the game I've played most is probably TES2: Daggerfall). But at the same time skeptical cause it had been almost 2 decades since Frontier Developments released a game I wanted to play so I wasn't sure they would be able to pull it off, so I did not give away any money for the project.

But still, because of my fond memories of Elite II, I've been keeping up with the news regarding the developments of the game and planned on buying it when it was released. But no offline mode instantly killed all my hype for Elite: Dangerous in one single blow, and I won't be buying this game.

Not really because I just may not stop at a refund and would look into a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT based on misrepresentation and false advertising.
I'm not sue where you're from, but here in the States, Bait & Switch is a CRIME.

Why not go the whole hog and declare war ? Talk about over reaction, what would hope to achieve with your lawsuit ?

That is a two part answer.

1. The promise of company with a project that is "well and kicking".
2. The promise of a company with a project that is "well and kicking" in the even of their (or the game's) possible failure.

A1. They didn't keep the promise of true offline play, as far as I can tell, when they're healthy.
A2. I suspect releasing server code when they're in dire straights won't be a top priority.

So, in my response, no parts are hard to understand. What IS hard to understand is expecting "the company" to keep in a promise when they're in trouble when they couldn't when they were doing fine.

Thanks for stopping by and gladly sharing that with the community ... much appreciated. Very insightful. I'm glad I know exactly how you feel. As I am sure other people are.

Will you expand on the why? No internet, don't, like online, etc.

Why shouldn't he feel how he feels? Is bi-polar disorder a common theme in yours? It's pretty easy for you to not hear anything from him ever again, by either not responding to argue he should feel differently, or by using the ignore function the forum has built-in.

There is Single player mode. And you should really read those Kickstarter rules.

Apparently there WILL NOT BE AN OFFLINE MODE.. so I don't know what the heck you're talking about.
you should probably mind your own business and not tell me what to read.

They also said that the game would have an offline mode, and look where we are.

Well that's your call and your welcome to it, seems like an odd choice if you have a Internet connection.

So do I, and I have fiber.

Me too. And I care too. But not about some poxy game. They come and go. I could blather on about the fact that there was no Blur 2 for Xbox ... even though it was in development. Me and my mate love that game. It's sad that Bizarre died. But that's life. Grow up. Stay calm and adult. Play Elite have fun for a bit. Don't throw you toys out of the pram. Stuff happens. It fades in and it fades out and then you die.

Doing fine doesn't mean they will spend millions on rewriting core part of the game, which version would be then played by few percents of players. It just doesn't add up. That alone was whole reason why I wondered they promised this mode in first place. They hoped they can really mod it for single PC use. Remember, they would also have to support all expansions there.

They made mistake promising it, it was never financially feasible.
