We already have one new Goid, but the Maelstrom is essentially a Death Star (excuse the pun) so it should be the bulk of whats inside.
-> remove modules, remove BGS reliancy for triggers (or remove triggers at all) -> focus on contested systems with battles, specific missions, etc.
And:.make it open play only

Any guesses as to what they might break this time.
The last couple of updates have been pretty stable out of the box for me, fingers crossed for the same this time. Probably helps that the changes are focused around the war story & I'm not involved in that.
Glad the legacy servers will stay up too, it could provide a bit of entertainment if the live game does have some issues.

An extreme suggestion would be to play until Tuesday, then completely uninstall the game and re-install it after the update is released. This would help in case (some of) the new files are replacements for older ones. Also, I'm assuming you've got good bandwidth and time for the extra download
