Thargoid FPS (with Drones) in Update 15 - Preview Footage

@EdzUp
I'm pretty sure all things thargoid are bio-mechanical, something Samantha alluded to in her interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
Scavengers are not drones but i guess we'll have to see what can be learned... since humanity knows so little...
We also don't know what effect the mycoid virus had on the thargoids, beyond human assumptions...

More exclusive content updates for the Bubble only lol...and only for about like 1/16 of it 🤣
You think they'll ever add anything to the rest of the galaxy?

Maybe wait till the patch drops? I doubt it myself, I don't expect it until the major update.....but still we should wait until the patch drops before making statements like that!

Well, if thargoids where everywhere, those who detest combat would likely be angry.
So, maybe it comes down to where the story leads.
I'm pretty sure they'll switch to explorer type stuff at some point where combat peeps will feel a l'il bit left out but it's all swings and roundabouts.
The secret is to keep things ticking for all playstyles, which can be hard.
Can be easier with a storyline, depending how it's worked, rather than just add stuff for no reason which usually sets off the favouritism arguments.
It is what it is, after all..

Yeah I do recall a while back every patch we had the same complaints.....oh it's all combat updates nothing for explorers, then the following patch....oh it's all exploration updates, nothing for combat and etc. Swings and roundabouts as you say!

@thistle
Let's not give false hope though a surprise would be nice...
But i can't see it in this update.
At least as a main part of it.
Time will tell though...
Yeah I've no idea about the future plans but the inclusion of creepy drones in attacked settlements - revealed even before the update - doesn't say a single thing about the likelihood of getting fps thargoids in a future update. Hell it doesn't say anything about what the gameplay inside the clouds might be in this update. 🤷‍♂️

Im not suggesting there qont be onfoot goids its just to keep reusing the age old drone which iirc was in horizons and beyond shows a lack of forward thinking basically its a placeholder to get some new event happening.

I'm going with meh( Thargoid war not my thing) but drones make perfect sense it's only humans that will throw the masses into the meat grinder . My issue is that thargoids know our offensive capabilities laser plasma and kinetics so any new stuff will be made to withstand those attacks ?? As for proper on foot thargoids ?? Those will be onboard the huge motherships or their atmospheric planets ? And with their tech if the hairless apes with their fire sharpened tech manages to push the thargoids back they can just disappear again till their numbers get back up ?

If Frontier ever actually add on foot Thargoids then it will be the same thing. Nothing will live up to what some players have built their own expectations of them to be, and so many people want different things from them.

Having the AI set up so it doesn't try to chase the player under a covered area that the craft doesn't look like it would be able to fit in, is obviously a conscious decision. And this thread alone has shown that some people like the perimeter style and some don't. Damned if you do, damned if you don't :)

As J said, if none of this had of been revealed and people had of discovered it for themselves when taking one of these new missions, then I imagine the impact of it would have been a lot higher. Seeing a small piece of curated footage with no idea when it was taken, or what else is involved in the missions/scenarios means people jump to conclusions.

But what do I know :) I don't even do combat, none of the stuff that's been revealed holds any interest to me from a gameplay point of view. From an aesthetic point of view I love it. I will just have to hope there's more for me in this update than the last.
When it comes to combat, all people want out of Thargoids is Starship Troopers. That's it. What's so unrealistic about that? They're not doing actual Thargoids because they're worried about "expectations" (an excuse i am sick to death of across various media), they're not doing Thargoids because they're incapable of animating fast moving insectoid aliens.
