We'll all get some new ships and an insurance bump. And a real Thargoid plush toy.
lol, if only!

yes i considered that and frankly if you go to sea why is that FD's fault..You decided to go to sea, get a grip.
How about if i decide to live in a cave?...Oh that's right i should blame FD for no access to the internet!...or maybe just maybe i should consider the fact that going to live in a cave might affect my gaming...
I really don't get the anger here, I understand the disappointment, but not the fury, the malicious comments and the threats.
People are acting like Frontier DELIBERATELY mislead them to steal their money, Frontier wanted to provide a fully offline option, they said so from the start, and I'm sure that they looked into every conceivable way of making it viable, time spent I may add which in the run up to launch was very developmentally precious.
I fully imagine Frontier are equally disappointed that they where unable to find a solution and despite knowing that there would be a backlash, opted to inform the community now, prior to launch.
The last few weeks leading up to the launch of a game is a very delicate time PR wise, Frontier know this and yet still choose to divulge this bombshell knowing it was likely going to impact on their sales.
I for one applaud that honesty!
The behaviour of some people in this thread is shocking, the abuse, vitrio and use of threats are an embarrassment to this communities usual adult behaviour.
I've mentioned this in another thread, but I'd like to point it out here, people have accused Frontier of not caring and of deceit, yet look at Mr Michael Brookes's comments history page: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/search.php?searchid=283379
..you will see nearly three pages of comments, all posted on a Saturday I may add, all devoted to calmly explaining how this unfortunate conclusion was arrived at and why, in many cases his comments where met with abuse, yet despite this he continued to devoted his day off to being open and honest with us all.
That to me is not the behaviour of a company who does not care or one who's goal was one of deceit.

I paid for that ability, and that's all I want, the ability.

There is no censorship going on that I can detect.
I am guessing he meant that this decision has shocked him so much that he has had lots of trouble conveying and expressing his thoughts and feelings; hence with the starting, stopping and deleting of multiple posts.
Well it seems that you can't have it which is sad (I'd like it too).
Situations change. I expect you weren't born yesterday so you're aware of this element of life.
You said you're getting a refund so get it and life goes on.
What's the point of staying around spewing vitriol all over the forums?

You don't understand. At all. It's not about access to Internet, it's about access to Elite game servers, which may or may not exist when those of us who paid for the game want to play 4-5 years or more down the line, perhaps not even that far into the future.
That's the complaint in a nutshell. The person who responded to you only replied to your half-baked conceptualization of the issue. I've attempted to provide a more full realization of the inherent problem of ED lacking an offline mode.
At first I agreed with Braben's decision to cut it, assuming that if they really delivered on dynamic ingame events (which they haven't yet), created an evolving game world (which they haven't yet), and so on and so forth, then playing online would be the only way to fully enjoy the game. Now I'm not so certain I'll even be able to see my Sidewinder in a couple years.
Sorry for any hostility you may have picked up. Your sarcastic retorts to a strawmanned argument that you constructed were getting a bit annoying, however.
Very well said rep in-bound.
People act as though FD wanted to release this information a week before the premier event and annoy this "offine gamer" crowd for evil reasons.
Obviously they didn't want to annoy anyone and they could have waiting a few more weeks and not told us till the 16th. Such reasoning seems to escape some people.
I could not care less about offline.
The fact is that everything in the KS was subject to change, the offline mob don't seem to understand this.
The way FD handled breaking the news could have been done a LOT better mind you.
The angry mob have done the real damage though, I'm waiting to see if they have done enough to kill this game for us all, time will tell.
I still can't believe people think they can simulate the galaxy, along with its complex economy and events, on their own computer at home and play on it at the same time. I think the galaxy has gone mad!
problem is not what they posted AFTER the news, but what they did NOT say BEFORE.
there are loads and loads of reasons yet people still jump in and talk...just load 2 pages back and take a read PLEASE
