How did the recent loss of earned ships affect you Ant?
Not too much. When I started to play, each patch was a full wipe. So the actual frequency of wipe is a lot better. And the base ships I want for my play style are not really long to get.

As what can you do with a starter ship. Not much. You will encounter one of the many lethal bugs or crashes that will make you start all over again from the hospital, or at best your starting room, and "enjoy" the "public transport + claim" game loop until you manage to take off and then get an ATC glitch, or a physics glitch, or a server 30K, or whatever <insert your current SC complete show stopper bug out of a huge list>.

In theory the only thing you'd be able to do is either box delivery missions, or sit in a turret of someone's big ship and that someone is sharing his mission, until you get enough money to rent a better ship and then you have to get some ROI on that rent by playing nonstop.
I guess you don't really play Aurora or Mustang because I always buy the Nomad purely on Aurora (no rent) and it takes around 20 to 30 hours (taking bugs in account).
Claim time is really short (note : it was instant in 3.18). Why are you talking about transport when your spawn is in space station (less than 1 min from hospital to ASOP) ? And just with 'halt illegal surveillance' and LRT missions you can gain 50k/hours with almost no risk.

Frequency is better for sure. There's a fair amount of teeth-gnashing on reddit/spectrum about the relative randomness of wipes now though ;) (Intended for X, happens at Y instead etc).

100% you can do stuff with only having paid cash money for a starter ship. In fact you could almost never use the starter ship.

You do the new player tutorial thing and you get 15,000 credits. Its like 15,000 credits to rent a Avenger Titan. Around 20k to rent a Anvil Arrow.

Only have to use the starter ship to do one mission or so and then you only need it to fly to rent a better ship.

Then you are on your way to buying better ships in game. And thats the only real game loop. Upgrading ships.

This is assuming stuff is working. Which can be a big assumption.

Wait, I was wrong. Everyone is starting with 200k credits. You can rent a ship right away. Never have to fly the starter if you dont want to.

Not necessarily the next patch. There was a run there where they didnt wipe for quite a while. A year, probably a bit more.

You do know at some point it will get wiped though. And you dont know when.
We probably will not have a wipe before server meshing. Since the save state was in, the only wipe we get was for PES.

I love how they do their show

You should say "This could not age well". There is already one patch after PES without wipe.

Aside from the accidental wipe you mean ;)

Important LTP issue
We found some unexpected behaviors with Long Term Persistence during the release to 3.19

  • Ships and FPS items are not going to be given back if they were never put out and back inside an inventory
  • Insurance claim will make you lose your ship unless you retrieve / store it back

Which cleaned out lots of player's 3.18 gear.

But regarding official wipes:
  • 'Static Server Meshing' is clearly still a long way off
  • PES is still clearly embryonic and unstable.
Predicting a lack of wipes under those circumstances is kinda setting yourself up for a fall.

So TLDR: Should I add it to your latest list? ;)

...my prediction for 2023
  • SQ42 beta end of 2023, early 2024
  • Vulkan late this year
  • Second system late 2023, early 2024
  • iCache a huge mess at start, good tech at the end of 2021 PES released, sorry to not let this one
  • real components in ships
  • power management in ships
  • some animals and créatures on planets (no clue about this but I've a good feeling about it 😊)

Played for a few hours and I didnt have any real big issues.

And really enjoying the new mining mechanic to get merits in prison. :ROFLMAO:

Small ships are "capable" at dogfight because they move unnaturally quick with instant acceleration in ANY direction with no visible thruster effect, making their moves completely unpredictable, and on top of that there's the server lag which makes them impossible to hit as even leading your shots is useless due to the afore mentioned instant changes of direction.
In short they are "capable" because the FM is terrible, throwing any attempt at balance out of the window, and the netcode is abysmal making it impossible to hit smaller ships (PvP of course, PvE favors the player due to netcode client authority).

Ya, it's like these timers until some stuff degrades. Say good-bye to playin at your own time. MP games do it to keep players active, but sometimes you just might to want to ddo sth else.
The reaaal kick in the nut is the constant wipes. EA games tend to have several points to start over - when they finally release you often have played it so much from scratch that you're done doing it.

The willfull accomplices to this scam tell that. Not only did Crobbers make the car salesmen envious, he turned the vicrims of the crime to action for the criminal cause.
But honest guv, I didnt do it.
But nah, Crobbers isnt a legendary salesman, he'a a pimp. Oh and does he pimp, he sends all his little angels to do the viral work for him. LA got pimped like all the others who came here before.
