Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I think you might be confused. You are linking to Counter Strike when you are talking about money laundering. While popular and fun, Star Citizen is no where near as popular.

And I agree, we should not trust the funding tracker. non audited and all. No one should mention it and anyone who says "haha sc has spent half a billion dollars and look how buggy it is" should be shouted down by everyone. We all know there is no way people have pledged $500 million. Patently ridiculous and anyone who believes that is a fool!

Money laundering is money laundering, wherever there is an opportunity it may indeed happen, especially if other popular avenues as CS GO are more heavily controlled. Launderers will naturally veer to less popular but also less controlled ones. You also seem to have ignored the round tripping avenue though.

As for the 500 spent vs earned, I do not really see the issue in the critiques. The record money funding in the tracker has been unilaterally stated by CIG, never verified by anyone else. So it is just fair to confront CIG with their claim and both a) point out what a crappy thing they have done with the funds they claim to have allegedly received AND b) also to challenge their funding claim in the first place precisely because of the crappy results. These two critiques are not contradictory and rather support each other in showing CIG´s (and fans) cattle biowaste claims 🤷‍♂️

For now, 3.19 is the best version of SC I've ever played. And I'm not the only one thinking it, it's often said in the chat
Sure, first page of spectrum, as of now:

3.19 fantastic LA.JPG

"3.19 is the best version we´ve played so far". Pretty sure it is just not only you thinking it indeed.

Okay other SC players on this thread can you enlighten me, what you can do and enjoy doing with basic package ships in SC?

100% you can do stuff with only having paid cash money for a starter ship. In fact you could almost never use the starter ship.

You do the new player tutorial thing and you get 15,000 credits. Its like 15,000 credits to rent a Avenger Titan. Around 20k to rent a Anvil Arrow.

Only have to use the starter ship to do one mission or so and then you only need it to fly to rent a better ship.

Then you are on your way to buying better ships in game. And thats the only real game loop. Upgrading ships.

This is assuming stuff is working. Which can be a big assumption.

There is always demannd. Once you build up a bit of inventory there is a wipe and you begin anew. Let's face it - the early game is often the best. Especially when you can crush starter peasants with your melta chariots.
Strangely...that's not quite how it works. The smaller, starter level ships are usually the PvP meta. The bling barges outside of the trade specific ships (mining, cargo and salvage) are just for flaunting your disposable income at said peasants 🤷‍♂️

Sounds like as fun as ED with basic Sidey. What do you ACTUALLY do in SC LittleAnt? As far as I understand basic package gives you ships that are essentially not very capable at anything? As far as I know neither of basic ships are not any good in combat, cargo transport, or mining...
With my basic ship (Aurora) i earnt enough money to buy a Nomad ( 1 week) and afterthat Roc + Titan and I work now for a fighter ship.
Sidenote : Aurora is capable at dogfight

In fairness to the guy that implemented it he always said it was technical debt ;)
The entire thing is. I don't blame him, I think it was a pragmatic thing to do and Thor only knows how many times I have been pragmatic in the same way. But the paradox of PES is that it PESed on his solution while contributing to the issue it was supposed to solve once and for all.

I seriously know nothing about game development.

  • Persistence is in and betterer than any persistence out there!!!
  • I just lost millions in a 30K!!!
  • Yey?

Small ships are "capable" at dogfight because they move unnaturally quick with instant acceleration in ANY direction with no visible thruster effect, making their moves completely unpredictable, and on top of that there's the server lag which makes them impossible to hit as even leading your shots is useless due to the afore mentioned instant changes of direction.
In short they are "capable" because the FM is terrible, throwing any attempt at balance out of the window, and the netcode is abysmal making it impossible to hit smaller ships (PvP of course, PvE favors the player due to netcode client authority).

As what can you do with a starter ship. Not much. You will encounter one of the many lethal bugs or crashes that will make you start all over again from the hospital, or at best your starting room, and "enjoy" the "public transport + claim" game loop until you manage to take off and then get an ATC glitch, or a physics glitch, or a server 30K, or whatever <insert your current SC complete show stopper bug out of a huge list>.

In theory the only thing you'd be able to do is either box delivery missions, or sit in a turret of someone's big ship and that someone is sharing his mission, until you get enough money to rent a better ship and then you have to get some ROI on that rent by playing nonstop.
