Just for fun: Guess the Desert DLC roster!

Have i missed a teaser or are those just assumptions? Cause 2 out of 4 really sound disapointing, especally the horned viper.
You cant tell me anybody wouldnt prefer budgies here
There's a spiky thing confirmed to me it looks more like a lizard or croc honest but most people are saying porcupine. By that logic it could also be an echidna though.

In my opinion the obvious Thing that this was a porcupine were the "Mohawk hairs" (If it is the right Englisch Expression of this Hair cut) they made.

My guesses:
1. African Crested Porcupine
2. Black Rhinoceros
3. Dromedary Camel
4. Hamadryas Baboon
5. Collared Peccary
6. African Spurred Tortoise
7. Yellow-Footed Rock-Wallaby
E. Saharan Horned Viper

Nah im pretty sure its a porcupine. While anatomy gets thrown out the window with stuff like sand sculptures i cant imagine that they wouldnt have made some sort of elongated shape with a tail for either a lizard or crocodilian. I mean it could still be an echidna, but then why wouldnt you include a long pointy snout?
The fact that it just a roundish blob with spikes screams porcupine to me.

Coming in late, so I guess the first four are more or less set in stone (with small amounts of wiggle room) at this point:
  • Dromedary
  • African crested porcupine
  • Horned viper
  • Black rhinoceros
Assuming it is a true desert/drylands theme:
  • Hamadryas baboon
  • Patagonian mara
  • Greater rhea
  • Coatimundi
But I still can’t shake the idea that this might be a safari pack or whatever you want to call it, in which case:
  • Hamadryas baboon
  • Serval
  • Grey-crowned crane
  • Greater kudu
The Coati in a Drylands theme ??? It would be a dream, but I didn't know it lives in these environments :0 !!

Most people think of the south american coati when they hear coati but there is also the white nose coati which accurs in mexico und the southern usas deserty areas

Right, maybe I just don't want to have many hopes ! And for all these example, there was a lot of upcoming DLC to add more than one specie by "group". Now we are far from the beginning of PZ :/, so I don't think they'll put several Coati species

Hmmmm, yeah, but I don't think Frontier will present us the Coati without starting by the most famous one :/
Ironically for me I did not know about the existence of the South American coati, I always thought that only the NA coati existed, I have seen them in the wild a couple of times, at least in North America they are quite a few common more than SA coati

I ironically think of the Baird's tapir as more iconic because of Zoo Tycoon 2
Interstingly until Last year all the Zoos I have visited had Malaysian Tapirs instead of other Tapir species even when they are not hold so often in Germany (I think only 4 Zoos have them and I have visited 3 of them 😃)

Even funnier, I've only seen 1 tapir species in real-life, and that's the Baird's tapir at the Houston Zoo😅

I really need to check out other zoos when/if I travel

My favorite option
  1. Addax (CR)
  2. Sand Cat (LC)
  3. Somali Wild Donkey (CR) or Dama Gazelle (CR)
  4. Patagonian Mara (NT)
  5. Yellow-footed Rock Wallaby (NT)
  6. Saiga Antelope (CR) [semideserts]
  7. Greater Roadrunner (LC)
  8. Thorny Devil (LC) [exhibit]

I’m a party pooper who isn’t excited about any of the reveals, so for the sake of being melodramatic, here’s my nightmare scenario (if it happens, at least I win the guessing game as a condolensce):

1. African Crested Porcupine
2. Black Rhinoceros
3. Dromedary Camel
4. Addax
5. Collared Peccary
6. African Spurred Tortoise
7. Nile crocodile
E. Horned Viper

And my dream desert pack (ignoring announced animals) would have been:

1. Secretary bird
2. Coati
3. Echidna
4. Hamadryas baboon
5. Blackbuck
6. Saiga
7. Leopard seal (hey, Antarctica is a desert!)
7. (Realistic option) Yellow footed rock wallaby
E. Bee eater

Edit: Oof. 5/8 nightmare picks. Dama Gazelle was too boring for me to even think of haha.

My husband has made me write down my daily predictions for this pack for the last week! Here's my latest with a bit of wishful thinking sprinkled in between the ones almost confirmed in the livestream. I'd go nuts if a honey badger was in there in place of any of these though.

1. Dromedary
2. Black rhinosceros
3. Crested porcupine
4. An arid-climate babboon - I'd personally prefer olive
5. Blackbuck
6. AWA or Onager
7. Hummingbirds (WE)
8. Saharan horned viper (E)

I guess it depends on where you live. But globaly i think coatis are more associated with SA, same as bison, beavers and moose are considered NA animals even if they also found in europe

Ok final guess then

If desert pack

1. African crested porcupine
2. Black rhinoceros
3. Dromedary camel
4. Hamadryas baboon
5. Secretary bird
6. Collared peccary?
7. Short beaked echidna?
8. Ex: Sharan horned viper

WE? Maybe they'll surprise us and we'll get budgies lorikeets or hummingbirds.
