Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

I was wondering after today's pack and Tropical pack how are people feeling about species specific animal packs in future?

I know the idea wasn't the most popular one before, but has opinion shifted after some time?

I think just one Primate Animal Pack could easily plug many holes. What do you all think about such concept?
The last four packs have all been packs that have really thrown me for a loop. Granted Grasslands because a December release and Tropical because it was not an animal pack, but still, it makes it hard to release guess what may be coming

While it's probably not going to happen, I still hope for both a Primate pack and an Avian pack. These are the two overall areas of the game that are severely lacking, and that could stand on their own as a group pack.

We all want more monkeys but realistically a full monkey pack is not gonna happen. However i still do see a decent chance for an aviary pack ( although this chance seem to dwindle which each new DLC :D)

I can see that this thread is already buzzing! My current guesses are a Woodlands or Petting Zoo-type pack for the fall. I hope it's not Highlands because I think it would be a better animal pack for December. To be honest, I am really not certain at all like I was with the Tropical Pack or Arid Animal Pack with my guesses for this last half of the year.

I'm really hoping the wait won't be as long as last time! I'm guessing we'll get it on the 3rd, 10th, or 17th of October.

I don't get what's with the primates. Thid new pack is a favorite of mine, but at the same time itt was such a good opportunity to introduce the hamdrayas babokn, which should be pretty easy to make from the mandrill rig. It's really baffling it was not included.
Theory I'm working with is that they aren't satisfied with how climbing is implemented to this point, so they're saving adding more monkeys that would really stress the already pretty bad climbing features to the breaking point. Hoping they roll out a climbing improvement system later this year, especially since this free update was pretty lackluster by Frontier's standards.

That's not a bad theory. I always assumed that arboreal monkeys are hard to make, but the baboon should've been the exception to that.

I have this theory as well, though m, hope of improved climbing kind of vanishes with each update. They have been on the smaller side for quite a while now.

My theory is monkeys are just bottom of popularity.
There is funky site called animalia.bio, which has feature to sort animals according to visits per page. 1 million visits in May so decent sample size.
Some top animals according to their popularity include: lion, tiger, blue whale, wolf, koala... Basic animals for basic people. Carnivorans and ungulates are dominating list. Not surprising.
But where are primates? On bottom.

It's either a scenery pack with a Farmyard / Petting Zoo theme that delivers playgrounds etc and a few domestic species

OR

a Highlands animal pack with a focus on European / Asian species.

Because Highlands finishes off Grasslands / Wetlands / Arid nicely, and the Euro/Asia-centric species choices would contrast the Africa-centric Arid roster and the NA animal pack that we've already had (not that there wouldn't be one or two species from the Americas or Africa in there and perhaps Oceania).

But I don't think they'll give us two animal packs in a row and Highlands / Mountains suits winter very well, so more likely it's the scenery pack with an odd-ball theme such as Farmyard.

Further to that, I doubt that Frontier would call a pack 'Petting Zoo' because it encourages touching the animals, which is not allowed in more ethical modern zoos because when it happens en masse it stresses out even the most domesticated of animals. My dog would hate to be petted by 1000+ strangers a day, even though he's very friendly. So even though I do think they'll open up some features that you'd expect in a petting zoo (more animal - guest interactions, feeding dispensers) I don't think they'll go so far as to name the pack after something that is prohibited in more welfare-focused zoos.

So my guess is Farmyard (or similar) in October and Highlands in December.

That doesn't answer the question of what they are saving up the T-devil for, he'd also do well around Halloween but they've already covered that theme with the Twilight Pack so honestly, who knows? Islands next year I guess?

Real recognise real! I know my monkey people when I meet them!

How is frontier going to fit dog/cat into primate pack?
I read somewhere that baboons have doglike snouts, so that's a plus...
Spectacled Bear, Ocelot and Linnaeus Two Toed Sloth are all highly requested animals. Also a Guanaco or Vicuna would be cool. A Caiman would be the only stinker
Instead of caiman, how about a tegu?

That's actually a great theory. Could also explain why we don't get more arboreal species period and why some species, like the monitos and pangolin, can't climb

Yeah Farmlands/Petting zoo does make sense for the Fall, as much as it does for Spring anyways (and hey, if you're in the Southern Hemisphere, the two seasons are the same two seasons, just flipped!) A Highlands pack also works.

My main gripe these two themes is that it will mean an even longer wait for the Tasmanian Devil, assuming the devil is even going to be added eventually.

I think I'd rather save that Temperate/Woodlands pack for December and include the Devil, Kiwi, Wolverine, Spectacled Bear, Wisent and Wild Boar for that pack...I'm fixated on those 6 animals for that theme for some reason.

Oh! If the petting zoo had a rabbit they could still do a rabbit for the Temperate/Woodlands theme. It's just a matter of finding an exhibit animal now since I've about lost hope for exhibit birds.

Oh. Here's a theory, apologies if it's already been raised.

The first several packs focused mainly on geographical location, especially the animal packs

The last several have been more focused on biome / habitat

Always with a few odd-ball ones sprinkled in between.

Maybe the next several are going to be more taxonomy-oriented? Answering our calls for obviously birds, perhaps marine and maybe, just maybe, primates?

That's a pretty good theory! Maybe making a 4+1 pack be 3 of the same order, and for animal packs 4/5 of the 7 be the same order?

I guess Baboon and Gelada are fine since they both are terrestrial, they spend their time on ground most. They can climb, yes but stay on ground the most. (With Gelada the world's most terrestrial primate)
