Summer DLC Speculation 2023

I still think it's a bit too strong a reaction for a pack where 6 out of 7 habitat animals were highly requested. It feels that the pack is judged much more for not following arbitrary expectations rather than for what it is.
Honestly, I don't care much about most individual animals anymore--I'm more concerned about having diversity which reflects both the animal diversity in real zoos (which are generally more than carnivores and hoofstock) and covers the most lacking areas (birds, monkeys). The porcupine is the only animal in this pack which adds something actually new.

Sure everything but the gazelle was decently to highly requested, but the combination of them still results in the weirdest roster of any pack imo.
And i feel like the majority of negative critism is for whats missing rather than what in there, similar to the tropical pack actually
My main gripe with the tropical pack was that 3 of the 4 habitat animals were way too similar to animals already in the game, not only in look, but also in biome, range and habitat function. Red river hog -> warthog, water monitor -> komodo dragon, lar gibbon -> siamang.

Btw do you guys rule out a future desert/scrublands pack? because I think we may still get a scrublands pack next summer if support continues to next year.

If we do I'm it'd be more austrlia and patagonia focused.

But the same applies to the arid pack?

Im still yearning for a desert pack that focuses on the americas and australia yeah.
And this might sound weird after getting an africa pack, but honestly im still hoping for a safari pack including a monkey, badger, secretary and stuff

Also India and mediterranean. And some leftovers from the now well represented middle east. Hamadrayas baboon and rock hyrax would bring a lot to the game, while if they need an easy clone the nubian ibex, oanger and arabian oryx (rip) are there.

The sahara however is complete to a ridiculous extent. This is the first time a region was so benefited by a dlc since the north america and south east asia packs, and that was two years ago.

I hope so cause this one really didnt do it for anything outside of africa.
We shouldnt need desert pack 2,5 to finally get some american and australian desert representation to get them to a good state but hey thats the reality we are living in seemingly.
Patagonian mara, burrowing owl, collared peccary, white nosed coati, hamadryas baboon, african spurred tortoise, short beaked echidna and budgie would still be a banger pack, not surprising when its my wish pack minus the dromedary.

I wouldnt rule out a desert or scrubland pack yet, to me the arid pack just removes any chance of getting one this year. However the chance of a desert pack is getting slimmer with each new pack with most of the popular wishlist animals being featured in the grasslands and arid packs

I can guarantee you that if support is confirmed to go to 2024 - most likely to be announced at the end of the fiscal year next month - the negative attitudes towards this and Tropical Pack will simmer down immensely.
EXCEPT for the viper snagging a bird from the WE slot. Call me an ingrate, a madman, or a stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder, THAT I can't look the other way on.

Does it?

The porcupine and sand cat are like nothing in the game, morphologically, biome-wise and distribution wise.

The ass, gazelle and dromedary camel all bring new biomes and or major regions their in-game relatives don't yet cover.

only the addax and rhino are direct analogues to animals already in the game (SHO and white rhino respectively).

Hence why I still stand by that the arid pack is a lot more similar to the twilight pack than the tropical pack in terms of expectations, results and missed potential.

I think even for a standard exhibit the viper is kind of a lame pick 😅.
Uromastyx or rock python would be way cooler imo

Will I am very happy with the animals in the arid pack. My life is complete and now the only things I am worried about are more props and settings to improve gameplay

Or, you know, COBRA OR CHAMELEON LIKE THE WHOLE COMMUNITY HAVE BEEN ASKING FOR.

sorry

not
I will stand by that a cobra would be a wasted slot. They can't do the neck frill display in an exhibit, and that's their main appeal.
A chemelon would be cool. BUT, I still stand by that the horned viper is awesome and I'm really excited to finally have a snake with agood model in the game.

After thinking again a bit about the Pack again I am Happy about it in the end. I would have replaced on of the antelopes with the Hamadryas Baboon but I can imagine it as a Headliner species for another pack (my Personal preference would replacing the Addax but I am also fine with it). Potentially beacuse I Just Like the Kirk Dik Dik I would have replaced the second antelope with it (But I am Not Sure If it would really fit into a Sahara Pack). And the second Thing is I would have called this Pack Sahara animal Pack. Because it is this in fact. But in the end I got 3 animals from my Top 25 Wishlist and my number 2 and 3 Most wanted animals to the Game. This is a good number and more animals always make the Game better in my opinion.

Edit: I am really looking forward to all the teaser Pictures.

I think that a cobra being able to hood up is possible. The turtle, newts and dung beetle have a little more complex animation, so i dont see a reason why cobras couldnt do their threat display every now and again
