General / Off-Topic Warhammer: Age of Sigmar by Frontier Developments

I guess so. Too late now, refunded. Maybe i'll take another look one day. I do like TW games.
Do you have a dual card machine where there is a crappy intel GPU for office and windows and a beefy GPU for games. Iirc total war games use the first GPU on the list and the Intel crapola one has to be disabled in device manager for it to find the better GPU.

Hmm... i can't even remember if i have an onboard graphics card, but if i do, it will be disabled in the bios. I learned that lesson years ago.

I had one game many years ago that scanned the hardware itself and went from there bypassing even the CMOS settings was to much to faff around so refunded it.

The only thing left about GW that's any good is the artwork. And by artwork I mostly mean drawings.

Depends on preference DoW was not a bad game by all accounts :)
Original DoW was an excellent game. However, I was talking about setting in general. Great thing about Warhammer fantasy setting is it's tone is very open to interpretation. There's everything you need for serious storytelling and relatable characters, but it also has room for humor and less serious settings. 40k on the other hand just went all in and became so goofy, so silly that you have no choice. It's at the point of being self-parody. The only saving grace is the fact that it's quite self-aware, which takes a level of cringe down a notch. But it's still there.

Well, i tried Total War Warhammer 2, but it ran like a dog on my computer, but it looked good. Just 1 turn took about 15 minutes to calculate after clicking end turn... on turn 1!!!! Now, i'm willing to accept that in part its due to my comp, but i don't see how a total war game should take so long. Medieval 2 runs like lightning... its just basic calculations, so can only presume the graphics are killing it somehow.

Anyway, that's real Warhammer, the fantasty side. Don't care about the sci-fi side, which should never have been spawned, and was purely a corporate decision to make more money from people.
TW WH2 is, imo, one of the best Total Wars. Funny thing is, it's totally yollocks in terms of raw realism. But it just comes together. I consider Shogun 2 the best (FotS) - the game is put together with much care for detail and creative and funny ideas. Diverse rosters and factions. Like all games under their publisher it suffers from DLC marketing, but I gotta say. After playing the Tomb Kings my resilience against DLC in this game was softened, chewed up to bits and left me pretty open to try more. I mean you can play Vampire Pirates - come on. They're the strongest ranged faction, too (screw elves). And I don't take so long for all the turns. Not even with my old computer. It lags a minute or so when loading up a save, that's it.

What is the age of Sigmar? A prequel timeline to the current one?
Age of Sigmar (broadly speaking) happens after 'the end times' in the Fantasy Setting.

Basically, lots of old lore characters got killed/junked, and its set in the aftermath with a lot of the old factions now clubbed together under one banner, and there now being Space Marines 'Sons of Sigmar'

I always thought Sigmar was a legendary forerunner emperor. I mean they cite the name in the end time games. Like in Vermintide. "For Sigmar!" So Sigmar must have lived before. Then the age of Sigmar must also have been before. That's how I understood it always. Or is there now a Sigmar II after the end times?
