Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

So what I'm getting from the Financial Report regarding support for PZ in 2024 is, we have no clue still? 😂 But we'll probably find out by the end of this year?

I honestly would rather this game keep receiving updates that get a squel in a few years. I mean, a sequel to a zoo game would feel quite repetitive compared to something like a coaster sim. Imagine starting over, and wanting all the same animals and waiting to get them.

Just for the sake of comparison, someone's said that PlanCo expansion was double content for double the money...

So for a PZ animal pack let's say that would be 16 animals (2 Es) for 20€?

Yeah planco released a large expansion for double the price/content in the last content update which signalled the end of development. It wasn't obvious at the time but made sense once no further development news came out.
Sounds like an ideal situation for bird expansion TBH. Although with all the new coding leaving that as the last release, I’d have to hope they would contine update support to tackle any issues that would arise from it

I already said it before, but I am personaly positive about support continuing at least until Summer 2024. Since the next Planet game would most likely be announced at least a year ahead and it is still not announeced. When PZ was announeced, the support for Planet Coaster continued up until PZ release, so we can assume same thing would mostl likely happen to PZ.

Yeah im sort of hopeful of birds as an expansion considering the trend of planco and jwe introducing new features along with a large scenery pack of sorts. A scenery pack with a full working aviary is really the only attempt worth following if birds make it to the game. Even planco managed to fit in 8 bug fix updates within the year of its large expansion so major coding shouldnt be too much of an issue.

Ok so if we got combined pack, 11 + 2, let's say 2 are WE, would you say 11 flying birds could cover the basics?(And idk macaws and toucans in WEs?)
Yeah i think 11+2 should give us a nice range of birds to pick from, i know its not enough to satisfy the bird fans but its a realistic outlook. We could see 2 interactive birds like parrots/lorikeets in the walkthrough exhibits, 2 larger birds of prey and then a mix of habitat aviary birds and large habitat birds.

I'd guess they'd probably do the same, I was more just musing outloud. If we did get an expansion focusing on flying, even flying only within exhibits, I can almost guarantee there will be some bugs to be fixed. And I can imagine Frontier would use those updates to address those bugs along with other minor things that would fall into wrapping up any work put into the game. Who knows, we might even get a 5th year anniversary animal that way, but I kind of doubt it.

Ideally somewhat realistically, I think I agree with @FoxyDee - new content into next summer - perfect for two 4+1+scenery packs, one animal pack and one expansion at the end of it. hmmmm...maybe throwing it all out of order as well - Temperate/Woodlands/Highlands, then Islands, then some kind of "around the world" type of pack that would normally be called a finale pack, but isn't labeled as such since we would get an Aviary Expansion pack next summer. That's a quick take on it though.

ETA: whoooaa whoa whoa what? 2 Walk Through exhibit and 11 habitat birds? That would not be like Birds of Prey or Parrots? That's not enough IMO. Maybe flip the numbers. 2 habitat birds and 11 aviary birds.

This is just my opinion but when we're talking about getting birds in, I'd definitely want priorities to shift to giving us exhibit birds and more of them. Unless they did put Macaws/Eagles, Toucans etc as habitat animals (which I suspect would not be, not that we have them as either now so we really don't know for sure)

When it comes to birds, my hopes are high as the everest, but expectations in the dead sea.

We can dream, but be also be realistically prepared we only get the Kiwi, if that. I know I'm all about birbs birbs birbs but there's no real basis for it, other than the fact they're so obviously lacking now.

At this point I doubt we will get flying birds. It will require a new mechanic of building a new type of exibith and new stuff, why release a so big mechanic to end all? It will require new patches to fix some stuff. The only birds I can see rn are flightless ones (ratites or penguins) or flying ones that cannot fly due coding (aka peafowl, crane or flamingo). These last ones I can see shoebill, pelican or storks. But flying ones? The only way to see them are in the walkthrough exibith, small ones that can be in a loop and have variety of skins and small edits: lorikeets, macaws, toucans or cockatoos. But at this point I doubt we will see an eagle, hawk, condor, vultures.
Realistically the only birds I could see in the future:
  • Kiwi
  • Crested Penguin
  • Kakapo
  • Shoebill
  • Rhea
  • Pelican
  • Crowned Crane
  • Marabou stork
  • Secretary Bird
