I had not judged its quality, only said that I think the beta is close.
Yes, you may well be right. Although I'd be surprised if they released a beta given that they reportedly don't want to release video clips 'to avoid spoiling the story'.
It is, as you say, impossible to say what state it will be delivered in. However it is possible to infer from the state of SC (which may be of concern) whilst noting that, by constraining missions/scope, they
may be able to work around (some?) current issues.
Profound issues, such as (clipping to) insta-death, are more worrisome if they are engine-based problems.
Putting it head-to-head with Starfield would be a bold move. If I were them I'd wait until early December, assuming the game is in a fit state to ship by then. Shipping a buggy beta (because they feel forced) could be a bad move, risking RedFallout, and also because they will be chasing their tails trying to fix SQ whilst also placating SC backers.
The biggest problem I think they face is that, if it's not
absolutely fabulous, a lot of comment will centre on the time taken and money consumed. Ditto if what they deliver is too limited/small.
I hope that SQ is a good game, but only time will tell. Good job it's still early days, yeah...
