Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

So this nothing really new that Frontier concentrates on 1-2 unique animals (in the latest case the Porcupine) plus some "clones".
Yes, this Is true, always in each animal pack we have 1-2 new rigs and the rest are medium and easy clones and Is not bad

In this pack the new rigs we will have are the Porcupine AND ironically the sand cat, yes, Is our cat 12 but we dont have rigs for extra small Cats, the smallest cat in the game Is the caracal/clouded Leopard and its both are bigger than the sand cat

If PZ2 came out tomorrow I would not buy it. Even if it had all of the animals of the current roster + flying birds and saigas.

The economy is in a weird place right now. I can justify spending 10$ every 3-4 months on dlc, but buying a new 60$ game which is essentially the same as one I already own probably isn't going to happen. No matter how shiny it is.

How? The file that was shared...stated that they will keep support their games? I do not understand...these doomtalkers keep saying support is ending for 2 years now:) Never any proof only assumptions.
Oh I was joking, sorry it didn't come clear through the text.

I am a different opinion. Within the last 12 months we got some brand new features by updates. We got brachiation which first was restricted to this delivered frame and later opened to other climbing structures. And we got a new building type with the WTE which surely allows the inclusion of flying birds. I do not know why we did not get birds until now but I could imagine that good animations, even If looped, are much more complexe than circling bats or Butterflies. I mean an owl or parrot is not just flying circles within its Habitat. So this is still possible. And to be honest, animals are "repetitive" since a longer time and even 2 years ago we did not get a mass of completely new animals within a Pack. Looking to the SEA Pack we got a Bear, a Pig, a Dog, a Tapir, a Cat and with perhaps the Binturong and Proboscious Monkey two unique animals. Africa Pack delivered a Rhino, a Penguin and a smaller Dog Like species and only the Meerkat as completely new rig. NA animal Pack had the Beaver and perhaps the Moose which were more unique and Europe had the badger. So this nothing really new that Frontier concentrates on 1-2 unique animals (in the latest case the Porcupine) plus some "clones".

I agree with most of your reasoning, but I must add that in fact bat flying is more difficult than owl flying, and maybe than parrot flying too. I've never seen an owl flying in a zoo, no matter how big the enclosure. With parrots it depends on the species, smaller ones like amazons fly more than the big macaws or keas. And then bats flying non-stop.
What I mean is that some birds have easier fly animations than bats, even if not all birds. So if the delay with flying birds is due to complex animation, maybe they will be releasing a lot of birds at the same time, including those species that having a fly animation easier than a bat or not having flight at all.

Doubt its going to happen. Frontier did almost nothing regarding old dinosaurs in JWE2 outside trex and spino and maybe something 3rd (dont remember)
If such mfkers like deinonychus and dreadnoughtus got into JWE2 without single change then there is no hope for animals like malayan tapir considering JWE2 is bigger game.
Frontier simply dont see older additions as something worth attention.

Uh, and that ugly Deinonychus model was the reason I knew from the first moment I wouldn't buy the game. Sad to think it could happen the same in a PZ2 with the potato bears and the dislocated okapi.

A little offtopic but i honestly think that most of the JP designs are hideous. They always try to make them more cool and badass by throwing spikes and other weird stuff on them.
I mean they are dinosaurs, they are cool enough on their own

Its not even about activity.
Bat flight cycle itself is simply way more complicated than bird one.

I think PZ is a good game that doesn't really need a sequel. If animals had individual personalities and maybe if time moved a little slower I wouldn't see a reason to make a whole new game when the first is so successful. Also, COMPLETELY agree with Sindy on I wouldn't buy PZ2 unless it had a good roster. It'd at the very least be annoying having to wait again for animals. In addition, I'm afraid some of my personal favorites wouldn't make it in to PZ2. I'm very happy the game has dholes for example. Springboks, red foxes, even the new Addra Gazelle are welcome to me and now I wouldn't want the sequel to forget them. Yes, PZ needs more ocean and aviary content but not a sequel.

For planet zoo 2 I would need a couple things to happen:
  1. All the animals in current game are available at launch again, I am NOT buying animals I already bought.
  2. Fix exhibits to be more customizable and add some new animals
  3. Add 25 or more bird species at launch. Preferably more but I get how they need to sell DLC
  4. Add 25 or more aquatic animals
  5. Add some petting zoo animals
  6. Add more interactions with guests
  7. Allow me to be a zoo keeper like in Zoo Tycoon 2
  8. Let me toggle guests so I don’t have to bring down my computer with a 1,000+ models on screen at once
The thing is that all of these can still be done in Planet Zoo. I can still see support continue for years. Even if main support is gone, but we get small packs I would be happy. An example: planet zoo adds a duck into the game, using a small team they release DLC for half the price that adds 5 new Duck species into the game. No update, no building pieces, just 5 animals. I would love that. It would let me add specific groups of animals, and let Frontier focus on the new games while continuing “support”.

I also find this assertion rather amusing. Y'all are acting like Planet Zoo 2 is going to come out the week after support ends. It will be several years away if it comes at all, and nobody, probably not even Frontier, has any idea what it's going to look like. Zoo Tycoon 2 didn't have a bunch of species that were in Zoo Tycoon 1, and people still bought it and every expansion they released for it, including animals that were part of the previous game's base game.

I know what the response will be. "Zoo Tycoon 2 was a completely different game!" Yeah, well, how do we know PZ2 won't be as well?

That is true, Planet Zoo 2 could be years out and absolutely revolutionize this small genre of video game. The only thing is that I don’t know if I will be still playing games like how I am now. Right now I am 23 and in graduate school, if the game comes out in 5 years I would be 28. I could be married, have a career, maybe a family. I just might not have the time, so I would rather the game get support now while I can still actively play it. Especially if I am waiting for animals in a zoo game that really should have been in the game already. Granted who knows how life will turn out?

I’ll say this, Frontier is not Blizzard. I don’t think Planet Zoo and Planet Zoo 2 will be anything like Overwatch 1 and Overwatch 2. It will probably be worth the wait!

No PZ2 until we get Planet Aquarium first please! Even if that means waiting longer for birds.
I love aquariums but tbh I don't think there would be enough content to make a solo-aquarium game. I'd much rather have aquariums incorporated into Planet Zoo (either this one or the sequel), especially when you consider how commonly aquariums are just placed as part of zoos.

We'd have to agree to disagree on that, but I understand your point. I wouldn't mind fully marine animals in Planet Zoo in theory, but we'd likely be faced with only getting 10-20 species. Maybe even less. Given the abundance and diversity of life in the oceans, lakes etc, I'd be much more interested in a game that would start out from the base game with something comparable to what Planet Zoo had, 50-70 animals, and then more in DLC.

Of course, what one would prefer would definitely depend on how interested they are in the species involved as a whole. 20 species may be too many for some people and 50 may barely scratch the surface for other people.
