Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

‘Never the twain shall meet’ would be a decent motto for this thread.

It’s always been entertaining, but with ED in the doldrums, it looks like SC is on the rise.

That does appeal rather than cargo just being another menu abstract. However, SC has such big ‘work in progress’ signs all over it that I’ll continue to stick with games that at least pretend to be finished before raising millions.
All aspects of cargo/ship interior I talk about here are gameplays finished and active in the current alpha. It's no more work in progress and not promises anymore. When I go mining and park my ROC inside my Freelancer cargo, it's not future gameplay, it's the gameplay that makes me play hours in SC. When I defend my ship from intruders, it's not future gameplay, it's current gameplay. A lot here don't understand that a lot of SC elements are not WIP anymore.

Star Citizen is like life.
Life is a work in progress, once its done, its dead.
No more dreams and hopes, all potentials comes to a sudden halt and we are left with the bones of what could have been.
Dangerous analogy.

If SC is like life, it’s middle aged but acting like a preteen. Soon it will be approaching old age where performance deteriorates, needs constant attention and support and may forget what on earth it’s supposed to be doing :)

I think I’ve mentioned before, while SC is officially described as in alpha, I won’t touch It. Also, I’m not keen on multiplayer so I need the running away mechanics to be finished as well :)

Universim, a game I backed on KickStarter, I played a lot of the way through development. It’s coming up to 1.0 release (I’m sure they’d advise Chris how that’s done ;)), but I’m played out. Just too much game time in development will spoil the final release I fancy.

I’m just an old fashioned guy, who likes to play released games. Your mileage may (and clearly does) vary.

Thanks for the laugh.

Probably just needs a bit longer in the oven.

Ant counts any control input as diverse activity. Pull stick. Activity. Roll left. Another activity.

Ah, i remember when i got into a comparison of activities between SC and ED with one of the faithful.

Their list was extensive, mainly because it went like this:

Walking on stations
Walking on planets
Walking inside spaceships
Spacewalks
Combat on stations
Combat on planets
Combat inside spaceships
etc...

Pretty much, there are few games that can really capture a spark beyond EA. Rimworld did well at that because you basically make your own story - and still won't know how it goes. Universim isn't (for me) - I revisited last year and feel I saw it pretty much all.

Expected outcome. Of course all the walking in other games would be rolled in just one category. If rootrat puts up his list it will be quickly dismissed as things done in Polish: 1.

That's weird because it was already complaining about how terrible the other games are even at its inception.
Not sure how I'd age the game though, poor memory in game and in regard to promises leans towards old age. Its also suppose to have a few offsprings, but it seems to present itself as still in its formative years.

And it's perfectly valid because walking on planets give you PvP on planets, which is not the same as PvP in EVA which get you floating in EVA and a completly different style of PvP in EVA. Combat on stations with gravity off is absolutely different from combat on planets. Even combat on Microtech is different from combat on Lyria because on Microtech the weather is often really bad and you don't see past 50m.
And boarding ships from EVA is different from boarding ships from grounds or (if you dare to try it) boarding ships flying in atmosphere.
You don't understand that all those points give activities that are really different when you do them... but you can't understand it, you don't play the game.

Of course. Do you know you can kill someone on ground with just the blast of your ship ? Or with your truhold and a box ? That crawling on the ground let you hide on some place not reachable if you are standing in PvP ? Or that you can launch back a grenade to the sender with your Truhold ? That choosing a white armor on a snowy planet is something you need to do if you like PvP? That dropping lightstick in cave help you not get lost ? Etc

Diversity of action my dear !!!

Oh you best hope they're not finished Ant...

(For variety, this boom comes to you in Portuguese...)
You can post a video of a bug if you want, when it works it's really fun to play (and it works a lot more than what you think). The gameplay is here, the debug is WIP.
Managing an invisible cargo with a click in a menu like in ED is bug safe for sure, but it's boring, it's just you changing from 0 to x a record in the database, you can do the same with excel, it gives the same fun.

Another exemple of diversity of action.

When you do bunker with a friend and he's incapacited and NPC still shoot, the different actions can be :
  1. go close to him and heal him with a medipen (dangerous)
  2. heal him from a safer distance with the med gun
  3. truhold him before to a safer spot
  4. truhold a big box in front of him for cover before healing
  5. go close to him and drag him to a safer spot before healing him
  6. you left him (because he's too weak 😆) and he creates a medic assistance beacon
I'm curious to know what you can do in EDO for the same situation...

Going by that logic, there are gazillion of docking diversity in Elite, because docking to Coriols is different to docking to Orbis. After all, you can fly into those rings, which you can't do on Coriolis.

Docking a ship to a planetary port on a 0.01 G is totally different to same action on 0.05 G, to the same action on 0.10 G and so on.

Just silly.
