Game Discussions Bethesda Softworks Starfield Space RPG

I like the planet tech. Looks quite familiar. Wonder how much proc gen it is and how much repeating texture it is. Hope they scaled and rotated it enough.
They say that it's 90% procgen what is not is the cities, bases, outposts etc. and it will spawn in in different configuration depending on player interaction with the game, when it's there you can return to it again, however what one player see is not given another player will experience.

Take Akila city is obvious handcrafted and all the mounties and surroundings are pg.

Caves are handcrafted but placed in a pg environment etc.

I’m intrigued by Starfield but my current gaming PC is 8 years old (built it for ED) and too underpowered.
(ASUS Maximus VIII Hero Motherboard ATX, i7-6700K @4gHz so only 4 core, 48 (2x8 + 2x16) Gb RAM Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2666MHz, GTX 1080, but I do have a 2Tb SSD).
Was pricing up a new build of Ryzen 5 7600X but don't currently want to spend £1k on a new PC, especially since my arthritic thumbs may not be up to it. Hence considering first trying it on cloud computing via xbox gamepass ultimate. Ive got 125Mbps ethernet. Anybody used cloud computing? Thoughts?

You should be able to play it on 1080p 30fps, same as xbox.

Not sure, but I might have left him in the woods in Oblivion somewhere.
Same voice actor so yeah something is returning ...

Yes that’s what I thought. But wondered how reliable the service is in practice.

Don't know what you mean by "service" however if you are concerned about if you will get a smooth experience I don't see why not as long as you turn the quality down, I played CP2077 on a GTX1080 at 1080p when it was released and it was playable, had to turn a lot of the eye candy off but it was still fun to play, until you ran into a nasty bug.

Speaking of service, does anyone know if this will be an offline game? It used to be that single player games were also offline games by definition, but MSFS (and perhaps games before it) have flipped that normative on its head. I hope it can be truly offline, like NMS, but I'd like to know for sure.

Offline SP only, you do not need to be on the interweb at all, XBOX will receive a disk, PC need to DL from steam. Well steam like that you're online but you don't need to.

I never heard of Rufus. Sure, I know know how to do it now but as a you just are stuck at the installation without any means to progress past the account shmonzes. And if I can't figure it out there is a good chance a huge part of users have the same problem.
What is the missing word between "but as a ------ you are stuck"? Do you have any PC savvy friends who could create the USB drive for you?

this is a good read for how to do it.

Ok I followed @Morbad advice and got me some good deals on cpu/gpu 7600X CPU MSI B650 Tomohawk MOBO and a 6750 GPU including the premium pass for SF, now I just hope I can move my SSD from the old system and update it to W11??

I maybe wrong, but it looks like he is doing a fresh install so has no access to the OS to create the disc without creating a Microsoft account. Hence my suggestion to get a friend to do it.

You can edit the installer's registry to disable these limits from the command prompt during the install. It's still annoying.
