Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I found a nice little orange moon with 6 bios, so I stayed for a while.

This is Stratum Laminamus, which is a new type of Stratum for me.

There must be some very large cows around here.

Even the Osseus were easy to locate.

And, y'know, some Cactoida because orange.

They must graze on the larger, vitamin-rich varieties of Tussock? :geek: :]

...i found some of these again, haven't found them often:

Strangely using night vision can cut down the glare, better yet use the night vision but only visit the sight while it is in the planets shadow*, better yet as you can deliver escape pods from anywhere pick them up from where you like best.

If you want to add to the fun fight in the shadow but don’t use anything better than the ships headlights and find out whether the farce* is with you.

**No spelling mistakes here.
Now that's a thought. Last time I was in Los, I couldn't find Dorn's base, Kraken's Retreat, that was supposed to be on a moon A2b iirc. Though I didn't scan the system because I didn't have a FSS scanner with me at the time, I did fly around the moon pretty low for sometime to no avail (this was about a year ago).

I just found one with 4. But no luck in finding any of that salad, yet...

I believe they went extinct quite quickly, though...

That's quite the shadow.

Well, I wish my ingame life in the last three sessions would have been at least half as eventful as that last night in real life...
But the main events have been a first footfall on a planet with 2 geosignals, which I didn't find any hint of.
And a planet with 4 biosigns less than 1k Ls from the entrance point. The heatmap of the DSS actually showed differnt colours and patterns when switching, which was new. But alas, I had no luck finding any of them, yet.
Oh, yes, almost forgot... It took a 10-jump stint to get to that system, which unlocked an INARA medal...

Not much going on today, it seems...
I briefly continued my quest to find some of the biosigns on this planet. Won't be easy if the surface looks like that, I guess:

Finding a parking spot for the night needs some creativity. Guess I won't get my SRV out anytime soon...

Yeah, that's a tough one.

You should try landing on the light side of the planet. In the dark it's pretty hopeless, even without the difficult terrain you have there.

So you can get Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters in the supermarket there? I'm relocating as soon as I'm back from my exploration trip... :)

I def need the red pill, doc.. it only hurts when I surf like this..

Is your gynaecologist really licensed for that sort of thing? :D

One from my file of odd bits & out takes: this is what happens when you try to install an Ikea fold-down sleeper couch in your FC den during a hyperspace jump...

When I landed there, well, not exactly in that spot, but not too far away, it was on the light side...
You surely can imagine my surprise when I found out that I switched allegiance just like this... ;)
I tend to land in the middle of the light side, I lose the benefit of shadows but the advantage of being able to head in any direction without the sun in my eyes outways that.

In the dark it is hard work only tall stuff tends to show up well otherwise it is looking for clusters of sparkles from things like tussocks, bacterium barely show in night vision.

Most of the time I actually land near the border between light and dark (the "terminator" or "twilight zone").

I land there because the sky looks the best from there, and you get cool shadows and such that make for better screenshots.

But if I'm having problems finding a bio, then I'll move to a less shadowy area :)

I was looking for Fungoida in that area...

I tried to do the same, but time had other ideas... 🤷‍♀️

I had fun with exobiology today. I found a little moon with 7 signals.

The blue area for the Cactoida was quite small, so I decided to start there. See it there in the middle?
Ignore the distress beacon.
Your problems mean nothing to me. I'm here after plants! (even explorers can be merciless!).

As it turned out, I found 6 of the 7 bios all in that little blue area. Even the cagey Osseus. I said to myself, "Is that an Osseus over there??". The scope test verified that it was.

Later, while hunting for Fungoida I had to trek on foot for some distance into the mountains, because I could not find a landing spot nearer than 2km away. My ship dismissed itself when I strolled too far from it. I was a bit worried that when I recalled it, it would land a long way from me, or be unable to land.

I should not have worried. The ship nestled itself between some rocks, no problemo.

I got a decent payout for all my fun. Too bad I can't get rich in the real world doing fun stuff. :p

The latest session was quite a bit more successful. After hunting for some light, which I found:
Out There.jpg

...I headed out with my SRV, chasing the light. I initially had aimed for a spot that should be able to support some Fungoidia, but apparently, I missed, as the first I stumbled upon was this:
Tussock.jpg

And while I was searching for the third sample of the Tussock, I ran into this:
Osseue Codex.jpg

I said: "Nice to meet you, but I'll have to come back to you later, as my scanner is occupied with some Tussock at the moment..." And dashed over to the right - you might or might not see the fringes of a patch of Tussocks on the far right. The uppermost picture was actually taken when I returned from the Tussock.
