Ships that work I fly, Krait 2 and Chieftain.dbs, adder, eagle and even sidewinder are great fun in hands of a great ax pilot.
what ship do you fly ax with?
e: added eagle to that list. thx @Factabulous![]()
... aaaaand there are plenty of them depending on the AX or war activity you want to do. The war is more than just cold orbiting.I think you will find most players use ships that work.
Yep they work.Krait Mk2, T10 and plan to do a Chieftain, which I don't even own yet.
Does cold orbiting work, do you cold orbit.... aaaaand there are plenty of them depending on the AX or war activity you want to do. The war is more than just cold orbiting.

I never cold orbit, I do what works for me in ships that work.
And there have been several new or improved modules released in terms of AX weapons, utilities and internals since U14, and several more by Azimuth leading up to it as well. The appearance of the Glaive (the only new Thargoid warship for a long time) has been responded to by Azimuth launching an improved non-Guardian AX multicannon.War always ramps up technology
The three Lakon C-ships and T10 were all specifically designed as AX ships (with greater or lesser success: let's not forget the wartime tendency to rush prototypes to production whether they work properly or not [1]), and the Thargoids haven't brought in anything specific that counters them.so for humanity to not have crafted any new hulls specifically to counter the bugs is totally ludicrous
You mentioned krait, Chieftain, Con/Cut,/Cor (same ship really), Vulture and Python. I have seen all these in AX combat.Ships that work for what? Combat? Sampling? Evacuation? Restore missions? Or more detailed, take combat - what kind of combat? Interceptors? Scouts? Glaives? Orthrus? A lot of different activities, and loads of ships work with various strategies and effciencies.
Personally, I kill interceptors with lukewarm orbiting with a Krait. Others prefer Chiefs, or Shard Condas for the more brutal approach, and I regularly see Cutters and even Corvettes in AX CZs. I mow down Scouts and Glaives with AXMCs head on. Doing Scout support in a busy CZ works well in a Vulture, or everything agile that can hold two large AXMCs (or more). I run EVAC with a Python.
I'm not against new ships - nobody will say no to new ships. But calling the current ones extremely limited and useless is dishonesty to make a point. The current activities, war or no war, are very well covered by the current ships.
Why should I want to fit all 38 ships for AX combat? I don't even own all 38 ships. And of course some will be inferior as AX ships. Just as some will be inferior for trading, exploration, bounty hunting, station rescues, exobiology...You mentioned krait, Chieftain, Con/Cut,/Cor (same ship really), Vulture and Python. There are 38 ships, how many of those have you not fitted for AX combat (as you say you like combat).
Do you consider any of these other ships inferior in AX?
Not even new artwork for the weapons just restated stuff already in place. And there have been several new or improved modules released in terms of AX weapons, utilities and internals since U14, and several more by Azimuth leading up to it as well. What would a specifically AX hull design look like anyway?
[1] The military is a great research funder because they have a substantial budget (essentially unlimited for superpowers), you get paid long before anyone finds out if the design has any practical use in the next war, crucial as it would have been in the last one, and the people funding the research and the people finding out it doesn't work are disconnected by multiple layers of intervening management all of whom have a well-trained disregard for human life. Sure, there should be way more new technology coming out than there currently is: Frontier are being nice by only releasing the ones which to some extent work to players. A whole bunch of things like "corrosive resistant hull reinforcements: +10% caustic resistance, -3% integrity, take damage from any supercruise/hyperspace drop as if it had been an emergency one, you don't want to know what happens if you emergency drop" should be on offer...
Most of the other ships are pretty useless in AX combat, otherwise you would have built them right! Why should I want to fit all 38 ships for AX combat? I don't even own all 38 ships. I'm not sure where you want to go with that line of arguments. Is it "we need another AX combat ship, because all others are crap"? Because that's demonstrably wrong. Fact is, we have a lot of ships, there are some metas, and the ships range from very suited to not suited across the whole spectrum of activities (not just AX). Any activity can be done very well in a large number of ships. I'm with @rootsrat on this, we don't need more ships, we need more activities for all the ships we have.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't instantly unlock (if needed and viable), buy and outfit any new ship we get. 'course I would. But the ship range we have is pretty good.
We're going in circles here. We have a good number of viable or even good AX ships. Not every ship has to excel at everything. That doesn't make all ships automatically useless. Most of the other ships are pretty useless in AX combat, otherwise you would have built them right!
I don't remember Frontier stating that, or was it just implied general wisdom?*Which makes me sad, because according to FDEV dev would be faster and more of it for ED on PC, following console closure, but seemingly that's not the case, or at least that's the impression.

I could take a guess where the console development resource went, to those new projects with console versions:
F1® Manager 2023
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin
Every time I hear that, I keep thinking of the type 10 defender. Lots and lots of hardpoints, but we're limited to four AX weapons. It was supposed to be "the answer."We need 10 more variants of the Thargoid ships, before Frontier considers another ship for us lol.![]()

How about FD unlocking that silly little restriction and let the Type 10 defender do what it was designed to do: shoot the hell out of the thargoids with a whole bunch of weapons?
It only took them about six years to give us Large Gimballed AX Multicannons so that the T-10 could take advantage of it's four large hardpoints (with low convergence). Sadly, I had noticed that, I thought it was just me.Also, at the risk of being a "doomsayer" - the minimal amount of chatter on the forums prior to the last update, and prior to the one tomorrow, is not a good sign. I remember when there were tons of threads about people talking about the next update. It has been incredibly quiet for the last two updates. Take that for what you will.
