Fleet carrier jump times up to 1 hour or more now , what happened ?

Well, looks like it's happening again. My jump is in 49 minutes.

I tried cancelling and trying again, couldn't get a jump at all for awhile. When I finally did... 49 minutes.

I thought the rush would be over by now, but clearly not!

Back down to 15mins for me, my previous jump was 45mins

Players: There are too many carriers.
Devs: Here is a CG so you can make billions to buy a carrier, just in case you do not yet have one.
Players: ...There are too many carriers.
Devs: We have made the time a carrier takes to jump reliant on if there are too many carriers!
Players: ......(sigh) There are too many carriers !

Devs: Hmmm - carrier jumps take a long time to queue up. Maybe we need more carriers!

What's the problem with 45m?

Some players really want everything handed to them NOW.

/s

The problem is that it was 15 minutes yesterday, so that was what you were expecting.
A wingfight event is going to start, let's say, in 20 minutes. You come online and plot a carrier jump to the system in question, only to see a 'carrier jump in 60 minutes' message.
Or you manage to make it to the system in time somehow but you need to spend more than a half an hour of your precious gaming time waiting for others to show up, because 75% of the people who want to participate will be late.

I can't do any fleet carrier jumps at all... What time slots?

I'm bumping around the core...... mine is 42 mins...... damn other players ;)

Chances are I'll fall asleep cruising to a bio marker like last night anyway

ohh new record.. 0.36 ly from jump point 🤪

5k ly from the bubble and departure time is 1h and 15 mins when I don't get that "no time slots" message.

Every freakin' time. Folks, everyone and his mother was jumping their carrier after the update to go see the <redacted>. This happens every time after an update or some interesting plot point drops. You should know it by now. It's not a bug, there is nothing to fix, it is because everyone jumps their carrier - jump times go up, time slots are used up.

Nothing to see here, move along.

Imagine being able to necro a one year old thread and not even notice.......because the problem is still the same. :ROFLMAO:

What problem? Originally carrier jump times were 2 hours when first released, this was reduced and reduced and reduced again due to player demands, all the while FDEV stating that there was a point where they could no longer reduce the time and that every jump time reduction could potentially cause issues due to server processing, networking and carrier numbers. Oh look, it's now causing the issues that FDEV warned about when players kept demanding faster jumps. The problem only exists in the players heads, it's of their own making. They reduced the time eventually to what they said was the absolute minimum, which means that any activity out of the ordinary will, not may but will, affect carrier jump times. The players got what they wanted with the understanding there may be delays due to carrier congestion and jump numbers, so where is the problem again?

Because carrier aren't scattered around the galaxy, that's just an illusion, they are all stored on one server working across a network so just being out of the bubble makes no difference, you are still affected by the number of carriers wanting to jump, it doesn't matter where you are.

Yeah but to their credit, FDEV don't know what they are talking about. Especially Dav. The forum devs know much better. Oh wait...

So how much reduction in wait times could actually be possible? Could it ever get down to, say, one minute? I have absolutely no idea...

My last jump took 30 mins so I imagine there's a "something" going in.

FDEV have stated the current time is the shortest they could make it without big issues, whether closing down the consoles completely would shorten that, well I doubt it, much of the delay is probably to ensure the new data is spread across the world, and that's still the same area to cover.

Hmm. I don't propose to understand how that all works but that just seems a little, well... slow in this day and age. Hey ho! I'll leave all that stuff to the minds that comprehend those dark arts :D

You ever experienced mysterious slow downs when opening web pages? The network that covers the world and allows us all the play the same game is an amazing thing, I am actually surprises it works as well as it does, it's the same network the WWW runs on, the same one hackers and bots scrape data from, the same one DDOS's run on, MMO's run over the top of that, it's remarkable they actually work at all, not that they sometimes have problems!
