Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

That be like Independence Day movie at that settlement
Elite ships are bigger than I think most of us perceived as we were flying around with the cockpit view as our main entry into the world early on. There are scaling problems I'd like for them to fix which might require completely new models, but that's obviously priority 5000 at best. You'd need a growing playerbase for that to be worthwhile.

And I don't say that with any kind of snarkiness. It's just an unfortunate truth.

Now seems like a good time to link one of the ship size comparison videos, don’t blink or you will miss the contemporary objects as they flash up to give scale.

Nice to see that the Panther was only a "concept" but was the thargoid creature from data mining?

P.S. Did the Adder look too small to anyone else?

No, not really. Feels exactly the same as ingame to me.
If you think it should be bigger than the Hauler, well, the older ship was built better in this case, it seems.
The Hauler (28.6m x 26.2m x 10.4m, first appeared around 3300) is kind of a cheap knockoff of the Adder (31.5m x 28.8m x 9.6m).
Outworld Workshops knew what they were doing when they designed the Adder in 2914.
I guess the engineers that had to fit Faulcon DeLacy's modular system into the old frame of the Adder might have had a blast.

I thought the Coriolis Starport felt a bit small...

There's another video somewhere that does a similar comparison but based on sci-fi ships/constructions in general. I think I posted it before but I'll see if I can drag it out again.

Looking at the size stats @Preferred Image posted for the Coriolis, it seems to be about right, compared to the length of a carrier.

According to a blueprint posted in the Wiki, the square you see when you line up with the center of the mailslot has an edge length of 2019m. The diagonal of this square would measure about 2.880m.

It would be interesting to actually see a carrier close to a Coriolis station for reference.

Have you guys seen any of the new Thargoid-related bios, yet? Some of them make sounds very similar to the Scythe. And they look creepy.
Not I. Alas, I just can't bring myself to get involved in all that Thargoid stuff * - I'm probably missing out.

* Unless they ever do on-foot Thargpid CZ's or something. You know, where the they're running around all insect-like and not some drone thingy. Mind you, if that ever came along, it'd be really difficult to do and require intense grinding for anti-goid guns and resist-o-suits.

EDIT: I've just looked at my carrier balance and it seems to have gone up by 100mCR because of the stuff I put up for sale. Not bad!

First I have even heard of them, maybe when I get back to the bubble.

And you’ll love it!

I think it would all be really creepy if you had to do something like power on a base (or some other mission) but the base has the creatures running around. All sort of hidden in the shadows, ready to pounce. Jumping out of alcoves and getting all up in your face. The scene where the Colonial Marines first encounter the xenomorphs in "Aliens" springs to mind.

I wonder what personal weapons Thargoids have... chemical guns that fire metal corroding acid to eat away at your suit? Mutagen-armour-piercing-fungoid hand cannons that turns you into a Thargoid and you turn on your teammates? Eye-melting disease lasers?

Perhaps less caffeine...

It will probably be interesting, whatever FDEV has done.
