Jurassic World Evolution 2: Prehistoric Marine Species Pack and Update 7 coming August 10

I have a feeling a Flying Species Pack is next after this. I'm hoping to see either Archaeopteryx, Microraptor, and/or Yi qi since we're definitely getting more insectivores. Also, the rock platforms have me wonder about the potential of Hesperornis being added.
Sigh... watch them add Meganeura... I mean, it's about the same size as Jeholopterus and Dominion Dimorphodon.

Welcome, Park Managers, to our latest Species Pack!

Introducing the new Jurassic World Evolution 2: Prehistoric Marine Species Pack, coming August 10.

Give your guests an unforgettable underwater experience with four new marine species. House gentle giants, prehistoric reptiles, and powerful, armoured predators in your lagoons.

Shall we take a closer look at what's coming in the Jurassic World Evolution 2: Prehistoric Marine Species Pack?

Archelon

There's a reason that Archelon's name means 'Ruler Turtle'! Thought to have lived in the Late Cretaceous Period, Archelon remains the largest turtle ever discovered. With giant flippers, Archelon was a fast swimmer, which is bound to make it a breathtaking addition for your guests!

Dunkleosteus

Sporting a massive, sharpened jaw, this powerful armoured fish was one of the most intimidating of its time. This voracious predator could soon be stalking your lagoons, for better or worse...

Nothosaurus

Look at those teeth! This nimble, distinctive predator roamed the shores of the Late Triassic, propelling itself forward with webbed feet. With a bioluminescent skin also available, your guests won't be able to tear their eyes away from this incredible species.

Shonisaurus

With a notably rotund frame, Shonisaurus was the graceful giant of the Late Triassic period. With only a long, skinny snout, the Shonisaurus would rely on its size to fend off would be predators.

Lagoon Rock Platform

You'll be able to make your Lagoons truly stand out with an all-new Lagoon Rock Platform. This will provide an above-water resting spot for both Archelon and Nothosaurus, whilst also providing your park guests with an incredible look at these stunning species.

Update 7

We've got some very exciting features coming in Update 7, which is free to all Jurassic World Evolution 2 players, including quality of life and bug fixes.

However, you'll have to come back tomorrow (Friday August 4) to get all of the details, in our upcoming Free Update Highlight.

Want a sneak peek before the highlight? You might want to keep an eye on our social channels: Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

In the meantime, you can wishlist the Jurassic World Evolution 2: Prehistoric Marine Species Pack here.

Which of our new species are you most excited for, Park Managers?
I definitely like some of these species. I know a lot of people have asked for Shonisaurus, Nothosaurus, and the Archelon; as well lagoon platforms/ islands. I wasn't expecting the developers to add Dunkleosteus or the Archelon, so I'm curious to see what they do with it, particularly when comes to the Archelon's diet. Some experts believe the Archelon may have fed on squid, jellyfish, and fish, while others argue that it fed primarily on bivalves, particularly large mollusks and crustaceans.

Considering how they handled the diets of most fliers (pretty much all piscivores) it seems likely all the new aquatics will eat fish as well.

So turns out that might not have been the case, with the real animal anyways. I was inspired to do more research on this animal, thanks to it coming to the game, and came across this article published earlier this year:

I really like this pack, kudos to the team over at Frontier for bringing us a selection of fantastic species, all four of which I could have seen a pack like this, I know people wanted Nothosaurus in a Camp Cretaceous Mantah Corp Expansion or something along those lines. But the remaining species can still come into the game in other ways, Microceratus and Tarbosaurus could both appear in say an Asian Species Pack alongside potentially Shantungosaurus and maybe Gigantoraptor. Smilodon of course would be in perhaps a Cenozoic Expansion, alongside a Woolly Mammoth, perhaps a Terror Bird of some kind, maybe Kelenken, and we could even see the Megalodon make an appearance in the pack.

Shonisaurus is a great pick as we have severely lacked ichthyosaurs, and by that we only had one, but now we have one of the largest.

Dunkleosteus and Archelon are nostalgic picks from Sea Monsters with Nigel Marven, two of his favourites, I love the more accurate aesthetics of the two species, the Dunk is large and in charge compared to its real scaled down counterpart and I am excited to have it in my lagoons.

The new underwater viewing gallery and lagoon rock platform are also fantastic additions.

Overall I am beyond excited to see this animals in my parks and I would love to see what kinds of lagoon species could appear in future dlcs.

Would the Nothosaurus have a Camp Cretaceous skin by any chance?

So I was curious... what's with the name? Prehistoric Marine Species Pack? Isn't the addition of "Prehistoric" a bit pointless? Why not just call it Marine Species Pack?
Probably because we have marine species today and they wanted to clarify that all the creatures are prehistoric, in case we got something like a coelacanth as well, it also just fits the theme of the franchise. There is also the merit of some species having present-day counterparts like Archelon and sea turtles.

I really don't see how that matters, especially in a game where everything being a prehistoric species is a given... and... are you suggesting dolphins are related to ichthyosaurs?
What is probably meant is the convergent evolution of the two animals, ichthyosaurs adapting to similar selective pressures and an environment to what dolphins experience today, their body types are very similar to that of whales and dolphins. The ichthyosaurs like Ichthyosaurus and Shonisaurus have four fins, a tail that moves side-to-side and are also reptiles. Dolphins are mammals with 2 fins and a tail that moves up and down. But both maintain the streamlined body shape and long jaws to live in a similar environment and feed on similar prey.

Yes, they never said it, but it is highly requested creature. I would immediately switch Shonisaurus for Megalodon. And honestly partially it is their "fault" because community is asking for it.
The community asks for lots of things... doesn't mean we get everything... but I'm pretty sure everything in this pack was asked for. Also;
Shonisaurus >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> big, generic shark...

Again, don't see how that matters... everything in Jurassic is a fossil brought back to life by sci-fi magic... of course the giant sea turtle is prehistoric... as would any theoretical species of Coelacanth they might add.

I might be tempted to believe we needed the "Prehistoric" tag to distinguish a prehistoric sea turtle from a modern one... but to distinguish an ichthyosaur from a dolphin? I feel like you'd need a lot more than the word "Prehistoric" to figure that one out...

That's the title, it ain't changing, move on, look past it, it is just a name

I'm more connived in myself the other Camp Cretaceous dinos would all be included in something Camp Cretaceous related, especially since, and this is only one small reason of mine, a Little Eatie design isn't implemented. Nothing in-game closely resembles it, and similarity doesn't stop Frontier as I believe it's more of a preference choice than a "similarity rule" of some kind. These constant rumors and speculations baffle my mind because, if JWE1's dinos can be fewer than JWE2's (RTJP with 2 new dinosaurs), why can't JWE2 also do the same thing with an expansion pack of any kind, at any time? Even my Site B expansion pack theory has only 1 species (Microceratus) in it.

Ichthyosaurs have nearly similar body shapes and behavior to dolphins. One thing ichthyosaurs share with dolphins is that they give birth.

Do dolphins bore any of you now?

When it comes to the missing Camp Cretaceous Skins and Variants, we could get those in a skin pack, like what happened with Evolution 1 and the Raptor Squad Skin Pack, a cheaper DLC that adds skins to existing species in the game, I think that would be a great idea, a Camp Cretaceous Skin Pack, including both skins and variants
