AX Restoration tactics

I also checked - zero missions in a station that used to offer between 12-24 of them at a time (14 military settlements in target system). None in the ship mission board (where the was always less when the system was not in alert) and none at the mission terminal.

So they either borked the mission server into not providing any or they've intentionally greatly reduced the availability. The latter seems unlikely, but given their inability to communicate, I'm not ruling anything out.

I'm going back to playing Hardspace: Shipbreaker and FFXIV. I'm not touching this game right now, I'm so mad at it.

Now another report from Indra region:

As expected, active Alerts (69 Upsilon Tauri and HIP 20492) offer AX restoration missions for HIP 21261 and HIP 20679.
HIP 20019 is Alert but already finished (this was fast!!!) and mission board is empty.
I checked many Human controlled systems around - no AX missions. I also checked on-foot terminals. But this time I didn't check all the systems in 20LY range from HIP 21261.
HIP 20741 is in recovery state, and no missions at all??? Progress bar is at 6-7%, Thargoid War Information panel calls cmdrs to "reboot damaged settlements and deliver construction materials", but how, when there's no missions at all?
After U16 rewards for AX restoration are much better, 9 - 13M, wasn't it something like 4 - 5M before U16?

I understand all the Revenants have been transferred to the Targoid matrix.

I'm getting flashbacks to when EDO launched with lots of reactivation missions then after a couple patches they all just got wiped out.
Yep. I was thinking the same thing.

I may do some more testing this weekend, but that will be it. My "fun meter" is pegged with this game and I'm taking a long break. Started playing the second South Park game (been in my backlog for years) and having a lot of fun with it. I only plan to keep playing Elite for about one night a week - which is all it takes to get your 400 ARX if you do the right ground missions - and otherwise mothball this game.

It's ironic - I was going to spend this weekend finally documenting (with video clips) the Scorpion SRV bug with Restoration missions (i.e. Scouts aggroing on Scorpions, but not Scarabs) - but if I can't get the missions, kind of hard to do that.

Bugs happen and are excusable.
The (lack) of communication from the Devs on bugs, features, etc. is less excusable.
The issue tracker is something straight out of hell. If this game were more popular, and more people were familiar with the issue tracker, I'm sure it would have made an appearance in "The Good Place" show as its torment factor is worthy of the Bad Place hall of fame.

I just wonder where I can find AX restore mission.

I visited 'Alert' systems, but there were no AX restore missions. I couldn't get out of my ship at large stations under thargoid attack. At outpost stations I could disembark but there were no such missions too, and NPC in outpost still were enjoying their alcohol watching thargoid attack. And no AX restore missions in nearby systems too.

You can still find this missions in Khwal, Holvandalla and HIP 20492. It means, Alerts which are still active. You'll find them in Ship Missions (on-foot is not even possible in Alerts) under Operations. State of Alert (active or finished) you can see in Galaxy Map, Thargoid War Information, white progress bar.
Probably today or tomorrow all of them will be finished, it means no AX restoration until thursday.

Thank you! I could find that missions in Khwal system.

IMO this is easily the worst thing about U16. This is basically FDev sticking two fingers up at casual players who only only get the chance to play during weekends.

Yep... which is why I've been playing games in my backlog (currently the second South Park game) and ignoring this game since the update dropped.

But hey, they did give us new cosmetics to buy! Including ship kits with radar dishes and stuff for explorers. These add zero utility (this would normally be fine) but is extra dumb when the Hazard packs, with all the extra lights, actually offer some utility to an Explorer and these don't.

Ugh.

It was already bad enough in Update 15, when they introduced the AX Restoration missions, that they were limited to military installations under Thargoid control. While this made sense, it greatly reduced the amount available. Now with them restricting the mission giving to Alert systems only AND changing the war rules so that if an Alert/Invasion is cleared, the Thargoids retreat immediately (not wait until server tick)... yeah, I'm not ever going to go through that many hurdles to get these missions.

As I state before, I will continue to play this game one night each week, because that's all it takes to hit the ARX cap (if you know which missions to do). Eventually, I may even tire of doing that...

I think HIP 20492 has gone, though Holvandalla and Khwal are still going for now.
Once they do go I might have a look at one of these new Revenant locations.

Interesting experience in Mapon, Khwal seems to be the last system offering AX reactivation this week so taking missions from there.
Driving upto a site I get a friend request.
After accepting I get a wing request, bythis point I have the base powered up and I'm heading for the secondary objective.
Get the target data and lining up to blast my way out when an anaconda comes in full Leroy Jenkins all the revs go hostile I get into the Sto building when I'm hit by a shutdown field.
Getting out with an interceptor? This is going to be interesting...
Moments later I'm dropped by a mauve adder.
Logging back in I'm stood on the landing pad, just as I'm getting my bearings I hear a rev behind me, time to go!
I'm expecting an empty backpack, a long walk and 100,000 cr fine.
Take a look, I have the data and my SRV is where I parked it!
To Max et al. Thank you!

I tried another thing yesterday - just before alert (Holvandalla) was finished, it was about 92-93%, I took 4 AX reactivations to Chinas. I solved one mission immediately (before Alert was over) and the other 3 later, after Alert was finished, to see if it works, and everything was ok, it was still possible to complete all this missions in Holvandalla.

Site; Hyades Sector ST-Q B5-5 2
The site is huge perhaps 4-5km across. There are 3 components, Coral Trees, 'Barnacles'* and a tripod looking thing at the centre.

Matrix 2.jpg

*These are not the Barnacles from the Nebulas, the scale is completely different and the impression is more reminiscent of the Thargoid surface bases in the Pleiades.
The Revenants patrol sparsely but are wider ranging than the ones seen at Military Settlements.

They don't patrol the Coral Trees so you can drive right up to these in the SRV.

You can also shoot from your ship, and send collectors to bring Coral Sap.
Have you noticed this disruptive mass, factor 45 when you leave this place? I asked in another thread but still nobody answered. If you drive slow, and immediately when exit planet masslock, engage your FSD, then it should show this disruptive mass message, and then factor will decrease with distance. I checked contacts but nothing is there. Like something really big is underground?

I suspect that these sites are actually new Thargoid Titans under construction, which will eventually lead to more Maelstroms.

Still at site, There's no ships, no scouts no interceptors. I got through to the big set of spikes in the middle. No Revenants, they're fairly easy to avoid.

My current thinking is that the Maelstroms are a beach head, and they've come out this way to colonize. God knows what that will lead to, a populated Thargoid bubble next to ours? Maybe not a bad background story for a long time Thargoid war close to our bubble.
