Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Frankfurt studios built around a hotel and conference centre...Manchester studios built around a custom designed MOCAP or PCAP facility...Asian business trips...there's income not connected with space games coming in from somewhere. The immediate funding for star citizen might have seasonally slumped pre-empting the annual marketing drive starting with CitCon...but that's not a direct concern for the moment.

There's a direct reason Cloud Imperium are over in Asia...studio expansion perhaps with a CI (Asia) with Asian-Chinese management to garner favour with The Party... but I suspect the chasing of investment into the parent company is the why and wherefore. The Chinese economy is in an unusual slump at the moment...perfect timing to open up a new western investment opportunity for some fairly big players in the Asian market 🤷‍♂️

Tencent to buy shares in CIG... when?

Turbulent and Foundry 42...etc... I suspect will become the 'Bethesda' for Ci's 'Zenimax' parallel...eventually...if the subsidiary companies manage to drag Sqn 404 and possibly a marketable, working PU out of the fire. They've been obviously tasked with doing so.

Turbulent have the experience of Eidos and Ubisoft behind their own aspirations, they never made it a secret they intended (at some point) to form an independent game studio, whether under the Turbulent/Ci~G banner or going solo...perhaps it was the sweetner to falling in behind the Cloud Imperium banner, we'll never know.

Foundry 42 was founded on Crytek experience...so they've a lot of experience behind the dev teams...as much as Roberts and Co as top management have been seemingly distancing themselves as a parent company from the development side of things since 2017 ;)

Still seems a bit too brazen for me, at this point anyway.

If they manage to squeeze SQ42 out, then yeah, could totally see them nursing SC along with one branch of the company alone, setting another on SQ42.2, and doing something deranged with the rest ;)

Think they'd be very reliant on SQ42 not being absolute poop to ride that particular chutzpah train into the sunset though ;)

You still think this whole thing is about making a space game? :)

I just reckon they still need those ship dollars right now ;)

And that means keeping sentiment up. And at least delivering those lovely new assets. (Enhanced by the usual artistic licence when it comes to the tech... You know... business as usual ;))

Not sure SC fans are particularly primed to cheer as Cloud Imperium Dreams pioneers an AI AvatarFriend for professionals, or whatever...

Some 'lesser' Concierge miffed at getting bumped down from wave 1...

Here's a few non-sweary ones...

Wait what? When did this happen? So me being a Space Marshall I’ve been booted out of Wave 1?!

Concierge. I'm being bumped down to Wave 3 since I've been financially stressed lately and can't afford a monthly subscription.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of this at all, and I see a glaring issues with it. Wave 1 PTU access was the one perk I enjoyed of being concierge, and now that's gone because I'm not concierge enough. Now I have to wait until dang near the very end to get in and do the testing I want to do.
