Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

A Planet aquarium that focuses interior aquariums and actual water/pump dynamics would make it different enough to be worth it. But if its just Planet zoo reskinned with fish, I would be disappointed aswell.
The report mentioned along the lines of creative sandbox management game.We all believe that's another entry into the Planet series.
I see, then yea I would expect that we are getting a new Planet series game next year and honestly I think that will mean the end of Planet Zoo DLC.
I would guess that the new game is Planet Coaster 2, That game is almost 7 years old at this point and was definitely popular enough to warrant a sequel. Of course there is other possibilies but with this style of game I think theme parks and zoos are by far the most attractive and interesting for a game like this. And Planet Coaster 2 could certainly expand off of the original with water rides and other such things. I'd say "Planet Aquarium" is much more likely to simply be a part of a hypothetical Planet Zoo sequel.
Depends what it is. I bought Planet Coaster full price and got bored with it really really fast, so if it’s a sequel then I probably won’t buy it. But I’m interested if it will be something new like a Planet City or something. I think my main interest will definitely still be planet zoo no matter what.
I'm thinking the new game will be Q4 2024 as well. Frontier has concurrently run two games at the same time, staggered releases of course. JWE and Planet Coaster. JWE2 and Planet Zoo. It's also worth noting that Planet Coaster wrapped up with its final pack in June of 2019 if I'm looking at the release dates correctly. While it's possible that PZ could end with the Winter pack, it's also quite possible it could extend into the Summer 2024, and an outside chance all of next year. - the latter of which I'd like most of course.
Just my own thoughts on what's left- most likely to least likely - 4 packs, 2 packs,6 packs.
New Planet Game ideas:
Planet Resort (build a resort tycoon)
Planet Railway (railway builder with stations, trains, and scenery)
Planet Airport (build an airport and house different vehicles
Planet Cargo (basically railway, airport, and boats combined)
Planet Stadium (build a stadium)
Planet Farm (farm sim knock off, but maybe in a good way)
Planet Restaurant (restaurant builder)
Planet Theater (theater builder)
Other ideas I’ve seen:
Planet Aquarium
Planet Aviary
Planet City
Planet Resort (build a resort tycoon)
Planet Railway (railway builder with stations, trains, and scenery)
Planet Airport (build an airport and house different vehicles
Planet Cargo (basically railway, airport, and boats combined)
Planet Stadium (build a stadium)
Planet Farm (farm sim knock off, but maybe in a good way)
Planet Restaurant (restaurant builder)
Planet Theater (theater builder)

To be honest I'm hoping there's no PC2, that game is already close to perfect. While it's missing a few features it's not worth Frontier making a full sequel in my opinion. The niche for that game is already filled quite well and a PC2 might not sell that great compared to its predecessor.
However, a successor to Cruise Ship Tycoon would be great and it's missing right now and if done well it would draw in a lot of people.
Planet Cruise (successor to cruise ship tycoon) with fully customizable ships.
Frontier would be doomed with planet city, cities skylines has really upped their game.
Some great ideas for sure! I actually think personally, Planet Aquarium is fairly likely. Planet City might be interesting, but with Cities skylines 2 coming out this year, and the first Skylines game being the new "leader" in terms of City Simulators, I'm thinking that would be too much competition.
Something else to keep in mind, so far the Planet series games have relied a lot on paths to make guests accessible to the attractions. Planet Zoo doesn't do much after that with guests, but Planet Coaster obviously does. My thought is that the series would need some way to work with pathing to make it work.
Adding in:
Planet Museum - there is almost no museum simulator games out there, and what is out there is very highly specialized and niche or not your typical thought on museums - Monster Museum, and some very odd sci-fi focused museum games.
Planet Cruise Ship - Kind of a weird name, but I could see it happening, there's not a lot of cruise ship oriented simulator games out there either. Most of the cruise ship type games are where you're first person steering a ship, not really designing or building the ship and entertaining guests. Similar to PC's rides, the ship's attractions could be something the guests interact with.
Planet Retail - Build a shopping mall, this could be indoor or outdoor shopping centers. The stores themselves are the attraction point and sell many different types of items. Perhaps the floors of the entire store could be an automatically coded path so that guests can walk around the stores.
Anyways this is far off topic of the Fall speculation so sorry about that. Reigning it in now.
Yeah that’s what I was just gonna say, they wouldn’t compete with City Skylines 2.
Doesn’t bother me, I skimmed over a few of the pages before when we were talking about fall dlc and we basically kept saying the same thing over and over again collectively lol
What if instead of Planet Aquarium it could be Planet Ocean? Combining the idea of building research facilities and sanctuaries for wildlife in the ocean but also building resorts and civilizations on the water and on islands. It could also tie in the cruise ships idea and making boats and ferries, harbours, shores, anything to do with the ocean. It’s not likely though.
I thought about that as well. That could be really interesting. The main thing against it is the whole path system, which has been integral to PC and PZ, but I'm sure they could make something work if they wanted to badly enough.
Planet Resort -> could be fun if they added biomes to choose from... Everything from a tropical jungle to a scenic coast to an ice hotel...
Planet Railway -> maybe? It could be cool with challenges of building around terrain...
Planet Airport -> boring to me personally
Planet Cargo -> see Planet Airport
Planet Stadium -> maybe if you could choose your team and stuff
Planet Farm -> that could be awesome! IF its anything like the Facebook Farmtown
Planet Restaurant -> yeah if you could choose your cuisine or if you want to focus on coffee or something, probably too much time mangement for me though

Of all the ideas I like Farm, Aquarium*, Aviary, City the most. Resort could be cool... I guess

You could still use it for making shores and cities on the coastline. Or instead of having a path for guests they could use the same system to create complex boat routes.
Plus this could serve as a message to protect the oceans.
