Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

funny that everyone here seens to like the animal diversity and mini-exhibits from ZT 2013, because they are the two of the worst aspects of the game in my opinion.
Well the overall animal diversity sucked and the habitat creativity was little to none existent, even less with the mini exhibits. But one has to acknowledge the nice roster of small animals like birds, agoutis and numbats provided here. Something that is nearly always ignored in Zoo games. Thats what people enjoyed, not the mini exhibits in itself i assume

The diversity in that game was pretty good, TBH. But the species count was aggressively over-inflated. 7 sub-species of jaguar and lion. 9 sub-species of agouti and giraffe. 3 sub-species of koala. 4 sub-species of capuchin. You definitely did not need all of those, differences between sub-species are pretty slight in many cases, etc.

I do think it was great seeing some smaller, lesser-known species get a shine (and honestly, it would be nice for more than a few of these to find their way into PZ before development ends) but saying there's nearly 200 animals in the Ultimate Collection is super misleading.

Anyway. None of that really matters because habitat building in that game was dull. Hah.

My feelings exactly. Yeah, there was limited fun to be had in filling the 'mini-exhibits' with the animals available but at least those animals were there.

And quite frankly, for the most part (barring some exceptions) the diversity of subspecies was really great.

Even if all the agoutis were 2 distinct I don't think you need 9 of them. Like I'd take 3 at most.
I don't disagree; I just don't think it's fair to lump them and the capuchins with the other cut-and-dry clones in the game (though all share identical models anyway).

In any case, there are members here who still want another brown bear, another tiger, another giraffe, another zebra, another lion, and so on, despite any discussions around uniqueness. I count myself among them; for some of us it's simply not a problem that we already have animal X, Y, and Z.

You never played the original Zoo Tycoon? Man that game was just the best.
I love the game! Got it for Christmas back then and sat with my younger brother all the time and we played. I could have sworn I got the game in 1999, but the wiki says it was released in 2001. I would have put my hand in the fire for the fact that we were sitting at the pc at the turn of the millennium. (my brother and I were too young for parties at the time)
I even still have the game, just looked through my games yesterday and thought to myself: "It's been a long time."
Hard to believe it's been 22 years already.

I believe the four animal demo was out before 2001 (I remember playing it religiously even though it only had lions, giraffes, chimps, and something else I believe).

But yes, it was my absolute jam. If it ever got a remaster I would throw my entire wallet at it.

It was definitely the full version. Back then it was still in a CD sleeve and in a nice big box. Marine Mania and the Dinosaurs came later in the DVD box.
I remembered a tiger in the Demo Version? Could it be?

Ah nostalgia ☺️

Back on topic:
I personally hope that this time there will be animals from colder regions, unfortunately the last two packs didn't do much for me. The porcupine is nice and I also think the fossa is pretty cool, but all in all nothing that excites me. I haven't played in a month for sure and I'm personally just a bit bored.
Something refreshing new would be great to build for. And I still dream of an enclosure that has 3 levels. Water/Land/Sky (and if I only get the birds in the box! I don't care at all).
