Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

Europeans hearing a temperate pack only contains oceania animals.jpg

Alright, here's my shot in the dark:

Coastal Pack:
Pacific walrus (headliner)
Sea otter
Great white pelican
Little blue penguin -- I'm being optimistic by proposing a pack with two birds, but there aren't that many mammals you can go with here.
Giant pacific octopus -- an aquarium animal that could actually work in the current exhibit box format, albeit with a new biome theme. Alternatively, thinking bold here--a touch pool with multiple fish and invertebrate options.
That's a pretty solid pack, and it doesn't have a fully aquatic habitat species like I've seen other coastal pack ideas have.

I cant see getting an island pack at all really, tropical getting heavy island themed scenery ended my hopes of getting one. Temperate and similar packs fill the desired island animal slots regardless.
Thinking back on this we could even get the Japanese Serow in a temperate pack, another one that people wanted for an islands pack. Now idk what I want more:
  • Tasmanian Devil
  • Wild Boar
  • Greater Rhea / Mute Swan
  • Reeves Muntjac
  • Hummingbirds (WTE)
Or
  • Tasmanian Devil
  • Wild Boar
  • Greater Rhea / Mute Swan
  • Japanese Serow
  • Hummingbirds (WTE)
Can’t decide lol

Honestly, if we're stuck with two ungulates in a pack... Give me the Japanese Serow and the Reeve's Muntjac. Cut the boar and give me all the cute li'l ones!

My ideal roster for a temperate scenery pack that feel slightly possible would probably be:
  • Wolverine
  • Tasmanian devil
  • Reeve's muntjac
  • North American porcupine or black-footed ferret or NA river otter
  • WTE: Hummingbirds
Two highly-requested animals, an ungulate that isn't like what we have in-game currently, and a different type of an animal we already have in-game (i.e., the NA porcupine is smaller and climbs). The black-footed ferret or river otter would be a little easier to make than the porcupine so I could see them happening instead (and honestly, any of those picks would make me happy).

If it's an arboreal/treetops pack:
  • Matschie's tree kangaroo
  • Ocelot
  • Black howler monkey or golden lion tamarin or cotton-top marmoset
  • Tamandua or cloud rat
  • WTE: Macaws or toucans
I feel like we'd be very likely to get the black howler because of its size but any of the other three would make me really happy. The cloud rat would be a fun addition, but honestly I don't see that happening over the tamandua. Haha. A possible sub for the exhibit could be a non-walkthrough slow loris (simply due to its size and speed).

The scenery for either pack, I would guess, might look pretty similar (and I'd expect it to be a flexicolor horizontal log building set, plenty of branches/sticks, maybe some new platforms for habitat building, foliage, and so on; "temperate" would have a more rustic feel).

I’m really hoping the next two packs are temperate/cold climate based. ALL of my top ten animals could fit into Temperate, Mountains or Tundra packs. So I’m really hoping these next two packs will ‘complete’ the game for me.

1. European Bison
2. Muskox
3. Domestic Yak
4. Wolverine
5. Eurasian Brown Bear
6. Barbary Macaque
7. Gelada
8. Eurasian Wild Boar
9. Sichuan Takin
10. Scottish Highland Cattle

A LOT of cold climate hoofstock in my personal wishlist, but they are some of my favourite animals to see at the zoo. I really hope we get to see some more European wildlife by the end of this year too. I’m keeping my hopes up for a Temperate Pack and an Alpine Animal Pack to round out the year and deliver to me some of my top wanted animals. Fingers crossed!!!

On this--I don't know if Frontier is planning any big addition at this point, even at the level of something like the walkthrough exhibits, but is the touch pool with say stingrays, horseshoe crabs, starfish, etc. viable? Seems like it could be simpler than a full aquarium system, but I could see it being difficult to mesh with the current pathing system.

Based on the last 3 packs being grasslands, tropical and arid(desert) all with animals from their respective ingame biomes it looks like frontier has switched from making a pack per ingame continent to a pack per ingame biome so likely the fall pack will be temperate or taiga with the names likely being the biome or something similar. The winter pack will be tundra and the spring pack for next year will be the one not chosen in fall as every other ingame biome has a dedicated pack. its also likely it will be a scenery pack next as they haven't so far had 2 animal packs in a row.
I would also like to point out that these biomes are some of the most under represented in the game with tundra having the least amount of animals in the game at 15 animals compared to the 84 grasslands animals.

I see someone has just joined the forums. Welcome mate and thanks for the contribution, don't forget to check out the random_goat meta wishlist while your here.

I do think Tundra does Def need more animals but the diversity in Tundra biomes is considerably less then grasslands. That just goes for colder climates in general, so I don't think we need as many Tundra animals as grassland animals.
