Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

I was talking before about a Safari expansion pack with lots of clones/ungulates, but that seems unlikely and I wouldn't even want it unless there were more than 10 additional DLCs coming. I was mainly trying to say that I like African antelope, but don't want to see any more for at least a year. Still, for fun:

Safari Pack (Just Africa): Serval, Honey Badger, Hamadryas Baboon, De Brazza's or Wolf's Guenon, Secretary bird or Grey Crowned Crane, Southern Ground Hornbill or Helmeted Guineafowl, Spurred Tortoise or Nile Crocodile, Rüppell's griffon vulture and/or African Grey Parrot as WE animal (DikDik or Klipspringer if I must pick an ungulate)

Savannah Pack: Serval, Grey Crowned Crane, Honey Badger, Hamadryas Baboon, Blackbuck, Spurred Tortoise, Nilgai, Indian Cobra, (maybe swap the tortoise and Nilgai for the Rhea and Mara if they count)

What I desperately need from Africa:
  • Serval: iconic and common zoo animal that is in my big 3 wants
  • Monkeys: I need the Hamadryas Baboon and ~3 smaller ones (probably colobus, a colorful guenon, and the patas monkey or the barbary macaque)
  • Birds: They are in extremely high demand. At minimum, I would want a grey crowned crane or a secretary bird; and a southern ground hornbill or helmeted guineafowl. Ideally we'd get all of them. For flying birds, Rüppell's griffon vulture, the "Zazu" hornbill (yellow-billed, I think?), African Grey Parrot, and the Rose Ringed parakeet (has a blue morph and also ranges in India) would be awesome.
Still Important/Essential:
  • Honey Badger: popular meme animal that also ranges in the Middle East and South Asia
  • Reptiles: The spurred tortoise and an African croc are near the top of my priorities for habitat reptiles. For exhibits, the chameleon is a clear frontrunner. I also think a pancake tortoise, rainbow agama, python, leaf tailed gecko and maybe a black mamba would be good.
  • Barbary Sheep: Africa doesn't have a goat yet
  • More birds are good. Maybe a stork?
  • Monkeys: Gelada, Sifaka, and Aye-aye are popular. I wouldn't mind another guenon or two. If they make it down here, the barbary macaque should be included.
  • Dik Dik or Klipspringer: we don't have a tiny antelope, yet
  • Black Backed Jackal: my favorite option for another canid.
There's still the bat eared fox, some popular ungulates, "clones" (Masai giraffe is at the top of my wants there), domestics, and I love the idea of the springhare for an oddball. They were an ambient animal in ZT2. I think Africa still has many good options, but not a whole lot is needed. I would not mind another pack focused on Africa, but I would strongly prefer a focus on the 3 major gaps: monkeys, birds, and South America. Some secondary objectives include Asian ungulates, marsupials, caprines, and small mammals (including musteloids, rodents, stuff that could be confused with rodents, and the popular trio little cats).

African Ungulates Pack please I'm not really keen on Safari Pack, but if it includes animals that are from other continents than Africa, I wouldn't mind it. I still do want more African animals including Secretary Bird, some more African antelopes and my second most wanted animal, Gelada.

If the pack were to be focused on Africa these are the top 7 African animals in the Meta List - some would not likely be Safari candidates though.

Secretary Bird
Hamadryas Baboon
Shoebill (unlikely we'd get 2 birds)
Grey Crowned Crane (even more unlikely we'd get 3 birds)
Serval
Honey Badger
Gelada (unlikely we'd get both this and the Hamadryas Baboon)

Not a single solitary ungulate though.

ETA: adding in some choices to the three spots that would likely be opened by removing the Shoebill, Crane and Gelada -
Mantled Guereza (unlikely we'd get both this and the Baboon)
Greater Kudu
African Leopard (unlikely we'd get both the Serval and this)

Adding in the next African animal - The Aye-Aye in place of the Mantled Guereza. But that's not really a safari type animal I'd think. Kirk's Dik Dik instead of the Leopard. Next up would be the Nile Crocodile.

So: Secretary Bird, Hamadryas Baboon, Serval, Honey Badger, Greater Kudu, Nile Crocodile, Kirks' Dik-Dik.


ETA II (Sorry!) I'm just being pedantic on this and taking the numbers straight from the meta list and making what I would think would be logical replacements, again based on that meta list. It's....not a horrible pack actually. But I do agree with the sentiment that a Safari pack that's not just Africa would be received better in general.

Here in Brazil we have safaris on pantanal(a massive swamp biome), which includes boats and jeeps, there you can see animals like jaguars, capybaras, howler monkeys, rheas, Jabirus, tamanduas, caimans and other animals. There's safari in India aswell with blackbucks, nilgalis, gaurs, etc. There's no point in make a safari pack africa/arid exclusive like.

Yes! Exactly!

They are incorporating that here as well in Iberá and Patagonia. Ecoturism.

So a safari pack doesn't have to be all África but for the general public the word safari is associated with african savanah so i think a pack with that theme will be centered on África once again anyway, even if it has a couple of animals from other parts of the world.

Love the choices. But 3 birds in one pack it’s a very brave choice 🙈

Based on the current theme of a Safari Pack, here’s an idea.

The last pack of PZ could be like an ode to the base-game. It could be like the mainly-African theme but with some focus on Asia and other continents. Here’s a finale pack in the theme of Savannah.

Features part scaling, (as well as exhibit scaling) uniform signs and statues for all animals, netting system, scenario editor, a few new shops, and updated versions of the rides.

This scenery set have a lot of common with conservation theme. Conservation isnt only about IUCN status of animals. Sustainability also plays a huge role in nature conservation and scenery elements included in this pack reflect this. Many zoos around the world are slowly staring to bring up the subject of nature conservation through sustainability. Including zoos such as London, Victoria, Perth, Barcelona, Oregon and Woodland.

Generally we can split scenery of this pack into few categories by using ZSL report (report about sustainability) and their site (ZSL):
1. Water management: gutter pipes, gutter grid, water butts
2. Horticulture in zoos: treelis walls, treelis teepe, flowerpots, mulch, trug, hose cart, hose, wall tap, watering can, trovel, wheelbarrow, carrot, cauliflower, potato, pumpkin, marrow, cardboards, crates, buckets, rake, shovel
3. Sustainable Buildings and Exhibits: 3d printed concerate wall set, wooden slat claddings
4, Carbon and Energy: lamps, lamp shade, lampposts
5. Recylcling and waste storage: waste skip, broom

Of course there are individual pieces such as:
1. Insect hotel - provides shelter for insects and attracts them
2. Grass roofs - many benefits: water management, energy conservation, provides habitats for wilderness

Its not just random ,,backstage props,, unrelated to theme. It is well thought theme, which introduced backstage pieces as part of greater idea: letting players to introduce sustainbility to their zoos.
