No Single Player offline Mode then?

So you have played it, if that is so it is very unlikely you will get a refund.

No ... I haven't played what I paid for yet. As far as I know, the release date is in mid December.

I did not pay for a broken, partially delivered Alpha/Beta. I paid for a finished product.

However I do appreciate FDs thanks for all the free testing we have provided them.

Nope it's just a banana. Oh, and it's yellow. We're going to engineer a pink banana as well, which will be groundbreaking, but you can have the regular yellow banana too.

This "pink banana" sounds suspiciously like a hot dog I once bought - don't get me started on that, I never wanted the bun, and as for the onions...

How could you accept thanks for testing the game if you have not played it?

Pretty sure what we've all bought/pledged/backed/pre-ordered is a game.

What we have had so far is a beta framework.
What we learned at the weekend we will get in December is a "platform".
So nobody has played a game yet, nor will they for a while.

No actually, he said many times when questioned about it on reddit and in forum posts and interviews that I could have it without the bun if I wanted.

Yes but it DID tell you that it would be subject to change at anytime long before you bought it and before he said what they WANTED in the FINAL product in various media interviews.

To those that get a refund will you stop posting and go away after saying I got my refund, good bye? I hope that will be the case. While you are upset and feel betrayed if you get a refund then you have nothing to complain about.

I played the test modules which were supplied. I did not play the advertised game which I paid for.

I must admit, I was a little upset that they never offered us an offline module to test, but I can see why they never offered that now.

I forgot to mention that the pink banana probably won't taste very nice, and you'll probably have trouble opening it. But! The really cool thing about it is that a bunch of people you can't see will take constant bites out of it while you're holding it. And even when you're not! Awesome!

:) I will most likely stop posting when I get my refund.

Did you get your refund? If so, can you provide more details on this?

Thats the part folks seem to be confused about, what was written on kickstarter and what has been said all the way through IS NOT a game specification....it is a plan and plans as everybody knows change due to un forseen circumstances or events.

What people seem to miss is the fact, that a lot of people actually "bought" a pre-order with beta access etc. from the FD store!

So that kickstarter argument is mostly irrelevant. People ARE already applying for refunds, let's hope it doesn't exceed the necessary ressources for the future development...

Beta framework of a platform?, funny it certainly plays and looks like a game to me.you're being silly now.

You played the beta which is what you payed for, I think it will be very unlikely you will get a refund.

Should that apply to pre orders through Frontier's own store as well?

Yes it does, pre orders are just you giving a company money before getting a final product, hence why you can cancel pre orders no questions asked before the titles official release date generally.

You may cancel a pre-order for a Digital Product up to and including the day before the release date of the relevant Digital Product by contacting Customer Services clearly stating your order number and item(s) to be cancelled.
Once you have notified us that you are cancelling your order, any sum debited to us from your credit or debit card or PayPal account will be re-credited to your account as soon as possible and in any event within 30 days of your cancellation.

Exactly this, However if you upgraded to the beta and played it, all bets are off I would assume.

Luckily in many countries (including the UK where Frontier are based) there are consumer protection laws, and some draconian concept known as False Advertising. It's generally illegal and bad form to take money from people for a product that doesn't meet the stated specifications on delivery.

And there Lays the problem.....They issued the statement of no offline mode BEFORE the Official release......Which means its still in Development ........ After the official release on December 16th ( Delivery ) you may have had a chance.
Until then its still in development ..... and they have the right to change anything from the kickstarter that is impractical without any real legal obligation except a refund policy.

I think this is why its all happened now. they had to let you know before the official release ......or telling you after delivery could have caused legal issues.

So as of right now.....Delivery will be as described and promised.....Without offline mode......

The devs, when asked if there would EVER be an offline mode said "probably not"

Yes, I don't really mind what decision FD make on this at this stage, as long as they make a decision one way or another.

If their decision is to refuse the refund, I will just tke it to the next step with my local authorites. I just can't do that until I have lodged and received a response from FD .. a response I am still waiting for.

Once a reasonable period has lapsed without response from FD, I will be able to move onto the next phase.

It will be possible for me to fly into space aboard Richard Bransons "spaceline". It doesn't mean it is going to happen.
It will be possible for me to get struck by lightning. It doesn't mean it is going to happen.
It will be possible for me to drive the new Shelby Mustang GT350. It doesn't mean it is going to happen.

Players have interpreted the word possible to mean certain and are paying the price for that mistake. As for language, the word WILL only confirms the word POSSIBLE not what follows.

I think I need to weigh in on this. So is it 'possible' to have a single player game without connecting to the server....... the answer is no. It is not possible.

Right, so you're saying that it's morally ok for Frontier to sanction refunds of people's £40 store purchase, but not if they've pledged thousands through Kickstarter... even if it's for the exact same reasons?
