Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

It seems like it. South America had the giant anteater. Australia has the koala. Africa had the meerkat. Europe brought us the lynx. Conservation brought the siamang. Twilight gave us 2 unique animals, with the raccoon and skunk. Tropical was the lar gibbon...
I don't know, grasslands and wetlands also had unique and great quality animals.
You're absolutely right. But I think, on the whole, I've always felt that the scenery packs had more uniqueness than the animal packs

I agree with you both as far as likelihood is concerned and when I said I was "sold" on the idea it wasn't about likelihood so much about how cool it could be. That roster coupled with the scenery would be fire compared to what folks are speculating for the "temperate" pack, IMHO (and I'm using that term very subjectively and relatively; I think both concepts/rosters have a lot of potential to be great). Just that when I re-thought of the Oceania concept it got me all excited. LOL
I’m still more of a fan of the biome packs only because we get several animals from around the world, not for one place. I hate it when I haven’t started a continent section of my zoo and I have to start it to showcase and build for the new animals from that continent.

SA suffered the most. Elephant sized sloths, terror birds aswell as a 6m, 1,5 ton land croc running stuff down.
That place was wild

Forget terror birds and sebecids. These went extcint long ago.
Ancient hoomans robbed me from having this in PZ.

I feel like the proportion is pretty much the same between scenery and animal packs as far as fan favorites, unique critters, and relative curveballs. It just pops a bit more in the animal packs because there's more animals in general.

It's always going to feel better when you get 2-3 "fan favorites" in the animal pack versus the 1-2 you might get in a scenery pack. Because even if the animal pack has 2-3 animals you aren't keen on? You still have 4-5 others that you really like. That's always been my take, anyway.

I hear that! I always start a "mini-project" when that happens (which is a bummer if I have an ongoing project that I'm really passionate about).

Im really curious how an animal pack with a bunch of different biomes would do, since its something that we didnt really had jet, NA coming the closest i guess. Like 1 rainforest, 1 desert, 1 tundra, you get the idea.

I think it would be fun and diverse to build for.
But its probably way harde to find a theme that can have such a roster

Only way I could see this is as a behavioural pack. Scavenger Animal Pack, Underground Animal Pack, Unique Animal Pack

An Exploration Pack would work: explore the Amazon rainforest, join an expedition to the Arctic tundra, deep into the European forests, discover the Outback, climb the mountains of the Himalayas, tour the African savanna and sail accross the Caribbean. That way you cover all continents and all biomes :)

Mr WorldWide Pack, sponsored by Pitbull

Contains 8 animals, 1 from each of the 7 continents, and one animal with wide distribution

Some sort of educational pack (Give me my museum pieces)

I wish American zoos had more European species. It feels like in Europe we have pretty good North American collections in comparison.
Right. Probably 90% of the distinctly European species in US zoos (as in, not shared species a la red fox or moose) are fallow deer and Eurasian lynxes, and both of those species skew very heavily in favor of lower quality, non-AZA places. Wild boars are here and there, but they're supposedly all domestic hybrids. And then white storks and mute swans and maybe a few more waterfowl species are around. But what I'd give to see a chamois or ibex...

But yeah, like it or not, this is why I can't really make myself want any more European species. I want animals I've seen, or that I could see in the zoos around me.

A continents pack could work as a way to add 1 animal from each continent
  1. North America
  2. Central America
  3. South America
  4. Europe
  5. Asia
  6. Middle East
  7. Africa
  8. Australia& Oceana
  9. Antarctica
Scenery could be varied for reach continent and adding 1-2 popular foliage pieces from each continent. (For aus i'd like to see stringybark gum added as they are a staple in bush to forest)

People for sure are throwing random ideas without much sense. Most obvious and realistic options would be:
Mountains: despite people idea about mountains being bald rocks featuring only animals from cold climate, such pack in reality can offer animals from every single biome. It has to do with fact mountains are present all around the world and not just in northern hemisphere with smuggled SA bear. Example with most biome diversity for animal pack would be:
1. Tree Kangaroo sp: Rainforests
2. Hamadryas Baboon: Desert
3. Wolverine: Tundra
4. Darwin's Rhea: Grasslands
5. Takin ssp.: Temperate
6. Siberian Musk Deer: Taiga
7. Spectacled Bear (free spot)
8. Lake Titicaca Frog (E): Aquatic
Truly random, but it somehow can work.

Another concept with such potential are Islands. Again, islands are all around the world. Simple task.
1. Tree Kangaroo sp. Rainforests
2. Tasmanian Devil: Temperate
3. Musk Ox: Tundra
4. Vancouver Island Marmot: Taiga
5. American Flamingo: Aquatic (if 2 birds 2 much then cuban croc)
6. Nene: Grasslands
7. Radiated Tortoise: Desert (it actually lives in spiny forest, but frontier would probably slap desert tag at it)
8. Panther chameleon (free spot)

And of course there is still legendary Bird Pack, but this one is obvious as always.

but seriously, y'all, if we can accept the blue wildebeest, why not the American black bear?
Oh, we got the blue wildebeest, and we might get the american black bear. Both are forever wasted slots in my mind, still.

I'm sorry, but I'm tired of north american animals, carnivores, and animals similar to animals already in the game. It just so happens that the ABB fits to all these categories.

if we can accept the blue wildebeest, why not the American black bear? It just seems contradictory to what many comments here are saying
I was happy with the Blue Widebeest because the Black Wildebeest in the base game, it’s rig is on the older side and doesn’t compare to the quality we have now, I saw the blue as an upgrade. Bears don’t need an upgrade from the base game, plus we’ve gotten 2 more from DLCs. Plus I like building for ungulates more than bears, but that could just be because we have way more of them than bears, so I’m more used to them. I rarely build for bears.

I know the Wildebeest wasn’t a popular one, but I enjoy it’s inclusion, I like it when we get upgraded subspecies of base game animals, cause for one it gives more of a choice and it’s nice to see how far their designing skills have come. Plus in a pack full of all star highly requested animals, one of them has to be the oddball, could’ve been a lot worse.
