More Pipeline gabble :)

Given the photo in question is this...

I'm not sure that's totally strengthened their case 😁
Hold on, they non ironically claim that is not photoshopped?

Considering how much you consdier yourself as being knowledgeable about SC & Sq404, you should then know that tasks ending on the tracker does not mean that the task is complete. The number of times Jake-CIG (the roadmap updater) has to tell people this is very funny. In-progress tasks can end, start again, extend, be delayed. Literally every quarter has had Sq404 tasks "ending" only for them to be extended again and again.

If you like, I'm sure Golgot or Shiny can help by pointing out some examples of the above.

They can put a pin in it. :D

Also, CIG don't put stuff on the roadmap they aren't committed to (according to CIG), therefore there is probably still a ton of stuff that still needs doing but its probably not on the roadmap.

Still, as we know from long experience, predictions from the faithful nearly always fail to come true, so i look forward to seeing them being quoted in another few months and them making excuses as to why it didn't happen or totally ignoring it while shifting the goalposts.

New employees former backers must have celebrated their "intern to senior in 5days" and their first paychecks by gifting themselves some pretty jpegs.

Infinite funding business model, peering perfectly with infinite monkey development process.

So this fun.

Prior to Pipeline sharing the supposed Erin letter, this burner account was sharing it on the sub:

Just with a more complete image:

The claimed dev has some interesting things to say 😁

I read the comments and I need to say that after years as a dev for CIG, I can garantee you it is absolutely not a tech company and it is barely even a gaming company. The tools at CIG are the worst I have ever seen in gaming development by far. The tech, the code and the overall design are a mess. There's plenty of wonderful and talented game devs in there, but they are cursed by those tools. Imagine pushing a car with no wheels. With people telling you non stop not to worry, soon you will have the best wheels. Though they never deliver, they only add more weight to the car. Or even pull it back sometimes.

I can confirm there was layoffs. I was even personally asked to give my opinion on if we could fire x employees in Austin. But it's not just there, they even fired some people after the turbulent acquisition for "budget reasons".

No idea if this comment will finally go through as it always says my account is too new, but I am an actual developer who responds to some stuff in the SC subreddit on my real account. made this one to post anonymously. Most comment were just general specifications / corrections on how things work. Sometimes, it's replies on questions that are asking for devs opinions directly. Every single time my comments get downvoted and even hidden, like I am some sort of troll. Let me repeat myself. I answer on how something is made, that was literally done by ME, and they reply that I am full of crap. No need to say how it went when I posted something on this account instead. It got trashed and deleted in a matter of minutes. I am amazed at how the players on that subreddit are.

This whole map/tile thing is such a non-issue. Having fully mapped many planets by now I can tell you how many times I have reached the edge of a tile: Zero

All the activities in the game point you to things in your tile - so unless you set out to run to the edges you never will.

And the limited count of markers - also a non-issue. I'd actually prefer there to be fewer as they get in the way of finding my outpost markers.

I'll tell you some of the things Starfield doesn't have that do make a difference to immersion:
  • Number of times I've fallen through a planet in Starfield: Zero
  • Number of times I've fallen out of my spaceship and been stranded in Starfield : Zero
  • Number of times I've fallen into an empty elevator shaft in Starfield: Zero
  • Number of times I've walked around a city full of T posting NPCs stood on chairs: Zero
  • Number of times I've gone into a bunker and found all the NPCs stationary and just waiting to be shot : Zero
I went there on purpose. The terrain and features like ressources just keep being generated. The world is coherent. Pick mountains you get mountains. Pick coast you get coast. I believe when you pick a LZ the PoIs get generated on top of the map layer. Where you move that LZ it always uses the corresponding map and the boundaries are negotiable and could theoretically be expanded.

So three fun things about the latest ISC:

1: All the stuff that the Hangar Module tech was supposed provide is now coming via exciting new tech... 'very, very long term'.

2: Remember this guy? The kickstarter backer and experienced Lead Designer who fronted up this bizarre jangle of cargo refactor insanity:

Lol, ~350 persistent boxes from a destroyed C2 on average (~630 max). What the hell are they thinking 😁

(And naturally Chris passed by their desk and said he wants more than the 50% survival average, with boxes stashed inside persistent ship wreckage on top. Even tho the 1 SCU box solution is just a placeholder for now...)

All the actual loading/unloading big box stuff still at Tier -1, so the only way is up.

Amazing...

10 Year Anniversary patch...

(And 10-to-1 says the loot scatter gets scaled back, like with the Caterpillar piñatas of old ;))

He's not in the vid. Because he bailed after 7 months...

Never meet your heroes I guess ;)

3: They want players to pack large items (& even small vehicles) into 'physicalised inventory' boxes. No doubt because the physics gods are moaning at all the cargo refactor / salvage / PES load etc. (So, plus side: Even more 'fit X in Y' mini-games are now possible. And that's actually vaguely pragmatic. Downside: You can no longer access your inventory anywhere in the station. Sounds like you have to be standing physically next to it...)

  • NAPU is North America PU - Montreal, Austin, LA combined after Turbulent merger.
  • Worried looking LA guys saying trying to work on amazing new features
  • Features: Physicalised Cargo, in game shops, 'Newer features that we're looking into, such as exploration', Hull C, 'larger feature sets',
  • 6 programmers, their own QA etc. They list the first names of everyone. [NB how Dan Griffis isn't there ;)]
  • Mainly in the 'technical design phase'...
  • Freight elevators will be interacted with via player hangars. Using cargo grids, detaching/attaching using tractor beams.
  • 5m40s - Instanced hangars. Looking at ways they users can have personal space / do it simultaneously. [NB backtracks on old ideas of all locations being 'real'?]
  • When you're ready to leave the hangar will 'move into place' [technically?], and you'll be able to fly out.
  • 7m40s - 'Persistent hangars are kind of an evolution of instant hangars. And really what it is is our first step towards real player ownership in the game beyond ships.' [What happened to the Hangar Module...?]
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CflyIwqDEsE&t=460s

- 'Very very long term, I have no clue of any dates or anything, but you'll be able to customize it and upgrade it so it becomes bigger, you can have bigger ships in them. And maybe at some point even having them like at a distant location, you could buy a second one.'
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CflyIwqDEsE&t=8m10s

  • You can invite friends to your hangars, split up your haul...
  • 'Persistence of hangers is really important.' 'This is going to be developed more in the future and we're going to use the same technology that we're using to build this for other things in the game such as player habs'
  • Physicalised Inventory: Ability to access station inventory menu from any location in station is going to go away... [So need to be next to the physical inventory box?]
  • Allows you to 'transfer in a clean and effective way'...
  • Allows you to transport dangerous materials, or ungainly items like ship weapons, even a small vehicle, in these big boxes... [Clearly loose items are slamming the physics / servers ;)]
  • 13m30s - Going to allow any shape object to attach to cargo grid.

So, new tech required to deliver what the old tech was meant to deliver?

I've never heard of that happening before with CIG!!!!
