Planet Zoo: Oceania Pack arriving 19 Sep 🐧

Please don’t take this as any form of hare whatsoever. I do my entire video praising the work of the Oceania Pack, however, I must use my voice to issue some concerns and disappointments overall. I can sing the praises however in a compliment sandwich.

Highlights:

1. All of the wood in here is so good. All of the flexicolor channels work so well together. The thatch wall set is my personal favorite, there’s so much customization you can do with it. It’s perfect for beyond Oceania. It’s amazing for Congo sections, Safari sections, South American sections and more.

2. The animals are incredible. Not just the looks, but the sounds. Easily the best sound design in the game yet. The kiwis little chirps, and the penguins as well. The Tasmanian Devils are properly freaky sounding. It’s incredible.

Lowlights:
This is a main form of frustration for me in the form of customizability. Really, this pack has so many useful pieces, I’ve built half of my Australian section already in the short few days of having early access. However, there are some gleaming flaws.

1. The new Thatch Set is not Flexicolor. This is the third thatch set that the public is paying for that we are not able to have full customization of. This is constantly disappointing as thatch in zoos come in a wide variety of colors, and it only makes sense to allow us to have that extra mile of creativity.

2. The new Lava Rocks also are not flexicolor. It’s a shame, because this is the set I was waiting for. The organic, base game rocks with a faux looking texture, but to me, they’re even less usable since black rock is so rare in real zoos. Faux rock sets are such an incredible thing to have in Planet Zoo. It’s why people love Twilight and Aquatic so much. Having the basegame rock shapes be flexicolor would be an instant sell on a pack, but it’s so disappointing that we don’t have that extra length of creativity in our arsenal.

More Highlights:

1. Career scenario is actually fun. First one I’ve properly dipped my feet into and it’s a good challenge. Very happy Bernie is back, and it’s a fun map to play on. Not to mention the new Ocean Background is great too.

2. The Net pieces. That’s it. They speak for themselves. Incredible.

So yeah, I’m so happy with this pack. It’s incredible. One of my favorite so far. However, I can’t ignore the fact that some of the things that would elevate the building in the game is constantly overstepped and I have no idea why. Again, no hate towards the team for this. Just voicing my concerns šŸ’•šŸ’š
The lack of flexicolor for the thatch and rocks is disappointing but overall this is has to be up there in the top dlcs with the amazing amount of scenery pieces, plants and animals.

The whole pack is looking great! Between the fact it actually walks quadrupedally (rather than hopping everywhere like the kangaroo and wallaby do) and the way it holds food in its paws when eating, the quokka is easily my new favourite macropod in the game!

And no surprise, I also love the Tasmanian devil! But the way it sounds is also my biggest disappointment with the pack - they don't even make actual devil noises, the snarl used is from another animal (modified raccoon I think?). I understand it would be hard for Frontier to source devil noises given there are none in the UK at the moment and most people won't know the difference but it's still pretty distracting for an animal whose sounds are about as iconic as their appearance.

I’ve put this into it’s own thread hoping it gains more traction there.

Please consider supporting it by liking and replying. This is a very specific issue that I hope gets addressed, either by an update or by new pieces in the future.

So with the videos now up, The hinted path is not the actual path for the pack, it's a Volcanic rock path and those wooden boards are scenery pieces

Wow! That's a real surprise, I didn't see that coming. The new path looks good for outdoor plazas if the texture replicates good enough. And now I also hope that the wooden planks work as a path as good as it looked into the teaser video.

My thoughts after watching several videos:

-The animals look all amazing
-Glad to see so many of them using the burrows
-The new path and fence is awesome
-Happy to see the change of the global map to include temperate biome in Oceania
-Nice to see that the exhibit animals is getting signs again (I still don't know why we didn't got one for the horned viper)

-The foliage looks good, but I miss other kind of trees like the Norfolk Island pine and the blue gum tree. I guess they didn't match the style of the pack
-The building pieces are very good, but I don't think I will use them a lot (except the fence piece). This reminds me somehow of the twilight pack with many themed pieces.

Overall, I'm quite happy with the pack. Not one of my favourites, but a very solid pack that I'll buy tomorrow 😁.

Oh wow, those netting pieces are great, alot of useable pieces outside of the theme:

šŸ˜ the Quokka is amazing. Their Walking Animation is so cool and how they hold the Leaves while eating.
The Tasmanian Devil is also absolutely awesome.
I also really love the new Driftwood Pieces. They will be extremely useful in Enclosures but also in Guest Areas.
I'm also a really big Fan of the woven Bark Walls.
I Wish we would get a few more Plants but I must say that the ones WE geht, look absolutely beautiful.
Really happy that we get some News Zealand Representation. Expected a few new Plants from Australia too though.
Normally I don't really use Blueprints that much but the Blueprints from this Pack are absolutely perfect. I really love them

A Update would be pretty nice someday then. There are at least some in Europe. Denmark if I remember correctly. So even though I think it's rather unlikely that they'll update the Sounds, maybe there would be a Chance if the Work for some DLC would lead them there

Would be awesome, but as you said it's probably unlikely. I'm getting more used to the way they sound the more videos I watch though, and I'm just so happy to finally have them in the game!

What also makes me extremely happy is just seeing the temperate biome in Oceania! The island map is also really cool, but it is a bit small, so I hope there's also some option to use the classic temperate skirt like there is for most of the other temperate maps (if not at launch, in a later patch) just so we also get a more widely useable option.

😃 really great to see that they didn't just slap it onto New Zealand but also added it to Australia too 😊
A Island Map sounds pretty cool. Need to see what it looks like. Would definitely a Shame though if every temperate Zoo there would be forced to be on a small Island.
For a Second I was shocked because I thought they've removed the Rainforest from Australia. Good to see that it's still there😊

Damn it, I just started a new zoo yesterday! :ROFLMAO:
Pretty sure they've already announced it together with the PackšŸ™ƒ

Surprises they decided to not include the non marking devil, given that 15% of the taz population have this morpho (not surprised with the albino cut althrough)
Need to look that one up. Sounds interesting

I'm really curious as to why Update 1.15 wasn't announced right after the DLC. It's such a great update and I wasn't certain about the island map until I watched the preview videos. Plus new foliage! I know they said they'll announce it all tomorrow but I just wonder why they broke from the usual pattern and didn't announce it last week? Maybe because they wanted to keep the focus on the paid DLC and not distract the audience with the freebies?

So blown away by the beautiful animals and their animations! The kiwi is just divine and the quokka is ermagersssshhh šŸ’˜
