Planet Zoo: Oceania Pack and Free Update 1.15 Out Now! 🐧

It all works good if you use a bit of...

My immersion breaks as soon as I open the menu and see that my zoo is not in New Zealand but in some other damn random part of the world. Might as well ask me to pretend the flamingo is the scarlet ibis.

Yay Dingo Update. Hope they'll also someday get new Variations.

What I wonder about regarding the Orangutan Brachiation is if they are limited to the thick Climbing Frame Pieces or if they can also brachiate on other climbable Pieces with similar Thickness
Y’all ever gonna allow the Aardvark to use the natural termite mound?
Chimpanzee and Bonobo too ._.

No - the flat version is the entire map on a flat island (the whole background is water and more islands dotted around). The sculpted version is the same map but with sculpting within the actual boundaries. I can see what they were going for but it was a bad decision. The island map should have been kept separate - it's the scenario map made blank rather than a true Sandbox Map, like I feared it would be.

I'm a bit peeved. The rest of the pack is perfect (minus the quokka); scenery is amazing, foliage is on point, animals are fantastic. They let us down with that map, though; it would have been easier even to just make the new temperate areas use the same temperate map as everywhere else, so I'm scratching my head wondering why they didn't.
Really hope they will add a Option to not have it on a Island. Sounds pretty annoying and I don't want to rebuild my New Zealand Zoo on a small Island.
Also what's wrong with the Quokka?

Ingame, the continent you pick only has an extremely minimal affect on animal ratings (IE: Oceania animals have less appeal in Oceania)
Didn't even know that yet

Frontier, we love you, always adding the best animals :)🥝 Maybe my new favourite Dlc? 2 birds in one pack is dream, I hope more will follow and please also more south american animals and monkeys. :)

I am sad that Emu is still not walkthrough animal, more so now that it has another interspecies enrichment with new Quokka and Wallaby, but how is it supposed to work when guests run from EMu? Please check them IRL, they are common walkable species! Please reply if you read this! :( Check this thread:

I couldn't see the emu's head for a moment and thought that that pointy log was it's beak
Quells going to use the force to get his fox into PZ
I wish🤣

Actually this had been updated in 1.14. I don't know why they mention it now. Probably just because they forgot to tell about that change last time.
It makes me wonder if they originally planned to include the change alongside the thematically appropriate Oceania Pack, but ended up accidently releasing it alongside 1.14. We had a hint for the next pack all along lol.

Also just wanted to sneak in a bit more appreciation for the quokka here - with the sound issues tragically ranking the devil much lower than it should be for the time being, it's actually my favourite species in the pack! They brought it to life so well and all of its unique animations really help to differentiate it from the other macropods.

Even wild emus are pretty friendly unless they have chicks. I live in emu territory and see various mobs a few times per week, and usually they see me, run a little bit, see I am not moving(usually have a camera pointed at them), then try to investigate. Once I had a pair of them checking me out so I bobbed my head a bit in an imitation of a bird dance and then the cheeky buggers decided I was clearly the lead emu and tried to follow me back to the house lol. They were juveniles and a bit lost - you can tell as they have black/head and neck. Definitely would like to see them in the walkthrough

I said this in a different thread, but wanted to put this here so maybe it's seen more easily. The building set and items are gorgeous. Absolutely love it and want to build with it. But the slanted/angled roofs are not on a grid, a trend that started with the Tropical pack. Flat roofs are on a grid, slanted/angled roofs up through Twilight are on a grid. Could this please be considered changing? I obviously haven't done much with the new theme since I bought it just four hours ago, but I tried to get into the Indonesian theme and I couldn't because of this one issue. I don't want this to happen with this pack, since it's amazing. I guess it didn't matter so much to me with the Indonesian theme since I liked the theme a good bit less, but that's not the case here. I want to make beautiful buildings that have nice curved roofs without it being tedious to build.

This pack is AMAZING!

I took a quick look, I haven't really looked at the animals yet, but the building pieces are absolutely great! I'm really looking forward to building again! 💖

Thanks Frontier for this super duper nice pack! (and cheers🍹 to hopefully many more)

Update and pack are pretty cool, but frontier may i ask, whats this?
"Animals also won't get stressed from being viewed from within a Viewing Dome"
Why? I understand that we only get sometimes updates to the management parts of the game like the sociality system which was awesome, but why are new features often activly steered against punishing players for bad management?
Why shouldnt animals be stressed by some weird humans staring at them from a glas bowl? Having them increase their stress means that you actually gotta think where to put it from a management perspective to give your visitors a good view and not torment the animals by the lack of their privacy.
This also bugged me with the whole animals can eat trash from garbage bins now but dont worry theyll wont get ill or something, which literally invalidated that new behavior as it removed all the consequence of it and with that any reason why it should be in the game, as lets be honest nobodys gonna watch their animals do that activly as its only relevant when an animal escaped, something they shouldnt do in the first place, so it would make sense as an extra punishment with longer lasting consequence from that mistake as not only did it stress the animal and your guests, the animal is also ill now.
Its allways cool to get new features, the bubble is cool and that animals actually can do something when escaped is also cool, but why not use them to tie into the other aspects of the game for stronger management instead of just ignoring management?
Ik that this game is not management focused, its a top class building game and my favorite one at that, and these 2 things wont make or break the management side of the game, but it does show the general mindset towards it and its sad to see.
This really is my only nit pick about the update though, otherwise everything here is a strong 10/10, so keep going that strong!

Hm. I just got the free download (haven't bought the DLC yet) and now I can't ... go into group edit mode to select individual pieces (it lets me click on the pencil but as soon as I click on a single object in the group, it pops back to selecting the entire group). Anyone else having that issue? I've only opened an existing sandbox and don't have time to check franchise or start a new zoo before I go to work.

I love the new island map!

For anyone who's interested, the dimensions of it are approximately 336m x 296m with the entrance on the longer edge. Or 84 x 74 standard wall/floor pieces. See image below - just ignore the ugly terraforming, I flattened the map to take measurements using floor pieces. The actual map has some lovely soft gradients in it at the edges. This is the flat or sculpted temperate Oceania map*

I really like that it's smaller. That combined with the map skirt gives a less intimidating 'blank page' feel to starting a new zoo. Dimensions taken, inspiration flooding in, now to start planning phase :D

FYI - playing today, will work on updating my spreadsheet tomorrow :) or Thursday. Or later. Depends how addicted I get in my new map!
