CI-G are probably the only gaming company that have released more versions of their TOS than they have games.
From "Shut up and take my money", to "We took your money, now shut up".Soon the only allowed interaction with CIG will be solely giving money.
Star Citizen: Crowdfunded, But Not Crowdfunded, Definitely Not a ScamThe new ToS, in clauses V and VI in particular, is even a bit clearer than the previous one in that only "in-game items" such as vehicles, ships etc are considered by CIG as "pledges" (i.e. crowdfund). And even then, only those that are not in-game yet can be considered as actual crowdfund for an item coming down the line; whereas any items already existing in-game are automatically delivered upon payment, as is, as a regular purchase/sale.
In other words, the ToS does not consider the game itself, the PU, as a "pledge". SC is sold as is, a simple straight purchase transaction of a product. SC has been released as early access and it is sold as is.
The worst part with all this, as per the previous ToS, is that the community and video game industry in general continues under the spell believing SC is still a fully crowdfunded thing. And CIG is not moving a finger to make it more clear and explicit that that is not the case, as it obviously suits them to still be perceived as a crowdfunded endeavor. Most transparent development ever.
Yeah it's like a balloon, the thruster push it up off the ground, but when the thrusters turn horizontal it still stays floating off the ground
I just tested a T-9 on a 1.5g world. Its ventral thrusters can lift it up against the gravity but it falls down if rolled to any other side. It can hover with the nose pointing up but not down. So in that regards, ED gets good marks for Magic Thrusters only in important directions. Smaller ships can hover at almost any angle, though.
So CIG has paired a front end engine that is wrong for the game with a back end database that is wrong for the game.
Never been done before. So CIG has paired a front end engine that is wrong for the game with a back end database that is wrong for the game.

As I understand, nothing wrong with the database, just CIG don't know how to use it correctly.
100+ star systems. Sure.
If we get Pyro in the next few years I'll already be happy. Depending on how many assets from SQ42 can be salvaged, we might be lucky to get another one or two systems in the lifespan of the game.
Just don't worry about size, as we have seen in ED, a playfield being a galaxy wide but an inch deep doesn't offer much either.
Worry about content in those spaces.
To this day I still don't understand what the players of StarCitzien get out of it if there are 100 star systems.
Unless you never want to see other players in an MMO again. Then you can also just play ED.
The topic with the 100 star systems is only there so that some haters can use it to complain.
The main reasons I backed Star Citizen was because it was advertised to allow player run servers with the ability to mod the game on that server. I hope we get that ability, even if that means we need to rent a server cluster.
Nyx is being worked on. Odin is being worked on extensively. Allegedly there's another unknown 5th system that they're working on, but they haven't announced if that's true or what they're working on.
My theory is they are working on a big surprise to have the other 98 star systems ready to go in along side pyro. And probably also have the necessary updates to Stanton. Now that they have had their world building tools in hand for a very long time, they could have already pulled this off. All that's left is to find a PES database that can handle this quality of data.
Rumor has it that they actually will have about 20 systems ready to go not long after Pyro.
This rumor was started by me just now.
It's been done before Chris, it's called a Tornado Oven."bloody hell, Chris, did you even cook this chicken? We're gonna get food poisoning!"
"sure i cooked it, in the microwave"
"the microwave isn't an oven, you idiot. Use the oven"
"never been done before, i'll just modify the microwave to cook like an oven too. The food poisoning will pass, stop being noisy"
....
"is the chicken dinner ready yet Chris?"
"i've contracted a company to modify the microwave to be an oven too, it's early days"
"just use the damn oven"
"the microwave has better fidelity"
That actually sounds like it punches above it's weight. It's been done before Chris, it's called a Tornado Oven.
I hope you are jokingDatabases are intrinsically simple things. There's really nothing involved with them more complex than a defined and populated array.
Why you say so? I heard CIG can just press a button and make the database work, much like they are planning to do with VR.I hope you are joking![]()
