Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

taking all of the pledged money with them.

Not all of it. A few million here and there paid as salaries to the execs, and dividend payouts, but a lot still goes in wages and the other trappings of running a business.

But one thing is sure, unless CR has badly mismanaged his finances, he's made bank off this game, without even delivering on what he sold, and even if it collapsed tomorrow, he's secure for a good few years.

But the folk who made their 'pledges' for the game and ships etc. are unlikely to see a penny back is what I was indicating.

Uh-huh...

So, pretty much the same promises as always?

Any idea when it will even get to beta, let alone release? (as nowhere does anyone have any idea on actual progress to a released product)
PES was a promise, it's now in. Replication layer was a promise and will be in 3.21. Promises are delivered at each patch.

PES is in such a shonky state that the CEO discussed its poor performance recently, even floating the idea of trying a new database if they couldn't resolve its issues. (Yet again).

The Replication Layer separation (as with PES), was supposed to be functional many, many moons ago. It would surprise absolutely nobody if it doesn't function particularly well out of the gate. Thus pushing back the schedule for the Nth time...

All long-term followers of the project know this. And you absolutely know this.

Which begs the question: Why do you dissemble so?

Mate, you're being deceived. Repeatedly, over years. The names just change, the result is the same.

For example, read this and just think ... is this actually true?

Persistent Entity Streaming is a new technology in games development that allows everything from player's items to destroyed ships to continue existing in the universe when players leave the area.

PES is in, replication layer will be in 3.21, and server meshing coming in 4.0 just after 3.21. It's moving a lot on major techs since this year...
Wrong again. Do you not even follow CIG's official development plans? I'm so disappointed in you, but not surprised; fanboys are literally the worst, even to themselves. Cult anyone?

No wonder the biggest SC content creators are mocking "copium" enjoyers.

3.21 contains the first iteration of Replication Layer separation. Assuming that will be stably achieved within one patch cycle is naïve; PES took 3.18 to 3.20 to get stable before RLS could happen in 3.21.

Next, CIG want to achieve Shard Migration/Transfer, and get that stable.

After those are implemented and stable, Server Meshing will begin testing.

Seeing as we all love sources to educate those confidently-incorrect folks that are unable to do research, here we are:

Then we will continue to “harden” PES, improving aspects and adding some additional quality of life features including the ability to choose which PES Shard you would like to join. The current game server / PES shard matchmaking tries to match you to the last PES shard you were in when you log back in or recover from a crash, but if that shard is full, it places you in a different one. But in the short term, before Server Meshing makes this not so necessary, we also want to give players the choice to wait in a queue for their preferred shard if it is full.

If I remember correctly, 3.21 will have RL added, but doesn't yet.

Because it's free entertainment, and people take the bait. ;)
