CG predictions...

Wouldn't it make sense for Seo Jin-ae to come and have a little chat with them? I guess she can feel if some changes have been made to them.

Someone said in another thread that Thargs were using the canned humans as electricity generators - in which Lindemann was spot on in his videoclip (well, sort off :D)

(sure, joking... again)
I saw that post too, but wasn’t sure if it was a joke or serious. Since it was explicitly mentioned in those leaked logs(which are nowhere to be found now - I looked in the Codex archive, so someone hopefully put them on YouTube) that we are neither food nor fuel to the Thargoids.

Slight tangent… I saw a video a few years ago where one of YouTube’s resident science nerds did the maths on whether the Matrix’s idea of using humans as a power source is actually feasible… and it is absolutely not. You’d probably waste more energy keeping us alive than you’d get in return from the human body.

(And I would really fail to see why the goids would use us to generate power if they are advanced enough to have fusion plants anyway. Or whatever the biomechanical equivalent might be.)

Anyway, I highly doubt there isn’t at least one human in those pods that’s actually been screwed with. In the figurative way, mind you.

So, a little part of me, when I suggested this was Halsey-like... a little part of me wondered.... I had a quick review of some things from back then, and found this thing:

Apparently, that's sourced verbatim from FD... but I don't recall it playing out like that.

Instead... I thought people suspected she got abducted by Thargoids, then when the Guardians trailer came out, XDeath used the trailer to locate the relevant system/planet... essentially, essentially Halsey's visions didn't inspire the search for the Guardians as I recalled... but that was 7 years ago now.

Where I was leaning to was, what if the FD-canon lore is that she was abducted by Guardians (or some remnant of them), was wrong, and she was abducted by Thargoids, who would have knowledge of the Guardians. What if the Thargoids are these "caretakers", and their message was actually a warning about the Guardians, but Halsey didn't understand it (because it was so alien to her). Now that we're screwing around with Guardian stuff, the Thargoids have to act.

"It was wonderful. Amazing. I saw the universe, and our galaxy within it, as I'd never seen it before, and I felt the presence of the real caretakers of our galaxy. The paradox of their existence – tiny yet gargantuan, fleeting yet eternal. They spoke to me as I drifted in the void. It was amazing. I must share their message."

Hmm.... anyway.

Even tho i dont engage much with Thargs since Glaives - so i never visited a Titan yet - i'm really looking forward to see where the narrative goes

It would fit better with Jaques' "[UAs] sing [...] and then they find you" log entries if the "they" in question were the Thargoids rather than anything Guardian-related, too. Not entirely the same as Halsey's situation, but there's certainly been some speculation that they both met the same entities.

Equally, if it weren't for Gan Romero, this could all be put down to stasis side-effects including hallucinations. But, thinking about Gan Romero, he managed, despite having no prior experience in the area, to board and depart in a DBX, disabling all the normal security measures with apparent ease. Seo Jin-Ae is understandably quiet about what she did before being kidnapped by Azimuth, but following her connection with the Thargoid ship has exhibited sufficient combat and hacking skills that if she had those before Azimuth got hold of her they must have got really lucky.

Plausible, definitely.

I definitely recall a mention of her being a private investigator in the past, from the Nemesis logs. Very likely that she had those before Azimuth got their hands on her.

Combat skills? Well, that insight hasn’t been provided by Frontier. I would assume yes, but it’s also possible that they are a consequence of willingness to defend herself following the events of Project Seraph.

It is possible they used the pretense of, say, a medical checkup or something along those lines, to get her(and other people) in quietly, though.

Anyway, I suppose it’s not entirely unbelievable/impossible that those ‘visions’ can impart some kind of information onto their ‘viewer’ beyond what they see. I mean, the hivemind is used by the Thargoids to, well, transmit information. Although I’m not sure how one would necessarily find anything relevant to a use in human society there.

… I guess it’s plausibly present within and might have different ‘markers’ to the Thargoid ‘stuff’ within it, following the start of abductions after initial (Thargoid) resurgence, if sufficient sense can be made of an alien hivemind by a person exposed to it.

(What are the chances Seo was actually the only ‘connected’ human for all this time? I can’t explain to myself how the Far God Order managed to effectively predict the invasion years before it happened, otherwise… unless it’s just their brains going haywire from too much gaseous ammonia.)

If you shout "Doom is coming!" for long enough you will eventually be right.
A fair point, I suppose(not just to the FGC…).

Guess maybe it’s also not that unlikely people just saw us immediately begin to shoot at Thargoids when they showed up, said to themselves, “Yep, this is gonna go spectacularly wrong”, and off they went to start a doomsday cult. Might have to check if one of those founders is a distant relative who had a day of feeling particularly funny, only for it to turn into a full-blown serious movement…

Sol Celebrations End as Election Begins

Pilots’ Federation ALERT

The Federation has begun voting to decide its next president, as a week of festivities in the Sol system are concluded.

Congress confirmed that any pilots who supplied rare goods for the celebratory events can collect payment from Li Qing Jao starport. All temporary system permits for Sol remain suspended for Pilots’ Federation members for a further week.

The 3309 presidential election has now officially begun. More than one trillion Federal citizens are expected to submit their votes, which will be recorded and collated over the next four days via secure digital systems.

Vice President Jerome Archer is the Republican Party candidate, who is widely perceived as the political heir to President Zachary Hudson. His running mate is Congressman Niko Shirakawa, who has strong connections within the military.

Shadow President Felicia Winters, leader of the Liberal Party, is the rival candidate and a proponent of more humanitarian-focused policies. She is on a presidential ticket with Congressman Isolde Rochester, matriarch of the famous Rochester dynasty.

Sofia Trevino, political correspondent for The Federal Times, commented:

“Following months of delay, logistical issues caused by the Thargoid war, plus the drama surrounding Zachary Rackham, voting is finally underway. Analysts believe this could be one of the closest-run elections in the Federation’s history, reflecting the polarisation that has taken place in recent years.”

“Support for the Republican Party has been bolstered by its increasingly successful handling of the Thargoid menace during the past six months. But Archer’s flagship creation, the Proactive Detection Bureau, remains highly divisive – something the Liberal Party has found success in using to frame its opponent as increasingly authoritarian. How these primary points will ultimately impact the outcome of the vote remains to be seen.”

The new president will be announced on Monday 16th October. President Hudson will remain in office as caretaker president until the official inauguration of the election winner, expected to take place in the new year.

Muhahahaha 😂
This totally makes me feel like it’s predictable setup. It’s highly doubtful that the release date of U17 coinciding with the end of the election period is… well, a coincidence.

Now where is that GIF about true coincidences being rare when you need it?

The election's been delayed twice already, at a time when it's hardly arguable that the plot was too crowded or players too distracted to participate, so presumably something in the results needs functionality from U17.

Alternatively, I guess, they tried to get the new Federal stuff ready for U16 and it didn't work, they tried to get it ready for U17 and it's still not quite there, the writing team have decided that they can't plausibly stall any longer on the election itself and are using a thematic "what, you have your elected officials take office immediately?" delay to buy some time until U18.

I'm somewhat expecting a tied vote as a way to complicate things further, though.

Then there will be the months of legal battles about everything from whose votes can be counted to who counts the votes.

Following which there will be the tragic mysterious death of the President Elect and his cabinet in waiting on their way to assume office.
