Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

CIG says the replication layer split has to come first (in the preview channel) before server meshing makes it there:
Interesting that the Pyro Preview channel doesn't list subscribers as priority entrants. No way to buy your way in to Pyro under less than Concierge level - outrageous!

Pyro Bound

Preview Channel Schedule

We're excited to announce that on Tuesday, October 31, we'll open access to Pyro on the Preview Channel. We'll utilize a randomized selection process, pulling from Digital Goodies Pack owners, Concierge, and our most active testers, followed by our usual wave process. More details to come.
Edit: Ah no - the Goodies Pack is still available - and costs more than subscription. gg CiG (y)

Heretic abomination! Genuine Roberts has just shown us a SQ404 video! It has to be real and release is just around the corner!
Exclusive leak of the corner

I finally saw the little snippets of Sq 42 (my connection isnt great here, so had to wait for decent resolution).
Visually I'll say it looks the part, and the actors involved are definitely earning their coin. The little touches around the carrier deck are a definite plus too.

That said, I imagine its still a long long way from release.

I personally don´t know. So, when do you think it will get actually released? Is sometime in 2025 a reasonably fair estimate? Perhaps 2026 to be on the safe side?
Judging by how CIG, a dev studio that praise themselves in the attention to detail, chose to show a cinematic trailer with ground vehicle who’s lead wheels stay perfectly straight as they make a turn and ships with scripted/unrealistic flightpath couple of minutes after talking about new flight model… I think you are being too optimistic…

They had the opportunity to put Bethesda to shame yet all we got was a “feature completed” announce… call me crazy but something smells fishy here

  • SM only proves itself when it scales. [Interesting that what you see as a 'simple' 'first implementation' is not being attempted by CIG currently. IE they're aiming for a lone test server for Pyro etc. And lord knows there's a lot more scaling needed after that to prove it fit for purpose...]
They need to extract the missions system from the server first. The missions need to follow you when you change server.

  • I think the rivers are a'ight. But also as awkward to implement as CIG say they are. (And so not as scalable and powerful as the young dev who hyped them, and you, up suggested. Quelle surprise ;)). Kinda makes you wonder if the talk of the Rastar tool being in a similar state are true too ;).
Rastar has been used to redo all bunkers of Stanton by one guy. I let you count hom many bunkers exist in Stanton.
  • Not even vaguely true friend. The vast majority of CIG's features, pre-sold ships, and combined complexity are still to be delivered. (As this feature list and these ship lists make clear, even in their deeply out-of-date states.). And no amount of 'lol other games didn't attempt an everything game' makes that any less true. I'm glad the illusion of patch progress is keeping you amused though ;)
Have you looked at what already exist in the alpha ? I can't pilot an Idris ? Boohoo,'m going to console myself by mining for an hour or two, then I'm going to salvage for an hour or so before doing a bit of roleplay at the Voyager Bar of Orison with my friends after a dogfight with my son in my Cutlass. And that's only a small part of my activities in SC...
The "illusion" is more from your side, you remain blind to everything that's added to each patch and think that players just sat in their ship dreaming of the future in SC... You are so obsessed by bugs that your forgot to look at the long play sessions in the videos where you find yours bugs.

It was a massively over-hyped game that was largely behind the industry pre-order trend to follow. There are lots of similarities with SC/S42 (All about graphics, celebratory endorsement, much touted 'ground breaking' AI & genre breaking technologies).
You are right, SQ42 can be a nice looking flop if the gameplay is bad.
But for what I've seen from AI in SC when the server is brand new and from some missions in game, I doubt that SQ42 will be a flop.

You seem tense

Why putting SF to shame ? Because a lot of SC haters tried to convince everybody that SF was the SC/SQ42 killer ?
