Memes are assembling...

(Tear tech original here for your pleasure ;))

The Squadron 42 trailer looks cool, but it's taken them outrageously long to develop and $600+ million dollars milked from backers. For these reasons it doesn't deserve a high score. CIG's scandalous business practices shouldn't be praised.

The trailer and the gameplay look good. It's certainly a game high on my "to watch" list. Nothing I'd take any chances to pre-order, but if the first reviews are positive, it's most certainly a game I'd like to play. (y)

You are perfectly safe. You cannot pre-order SQ404 at this point in time.

You should probably buy an Idris though!

This is just stealth pre-ordering though. HYpe hYpe HyPe!

In two years time, there will be another promo for an imagined release in two years time and people will forget two years before, which is now, when they thought this was going to be a thing in two years and again and again and again and again and again...

Recently departed Unity CEO John Riccitiello (The man behind the recent nasty business that hit the headlines) was formally a CEO at EA where he famously said he'd get gamers to buy ammo clips in call-of-duty by "conditioning" them.

Chris Roberts has conditioned gamers to pay for vertical slice demos in a way that leaves him less accountable than having to honor pre-orders.

This sounds like Riccitiello's dream.

When marketing and advertisement deals are made for SQ42 only then do we know that the release is near. That could be 1 year before release. So realistically I think SQ42 could be released in 2025 at the earliest. In 2025 there will be a bunch of Unreal Engine 5 powered games with the same or better graphics fidelity.

Which bit is making you cry Ant?
Perhaps the cool and systemic cry/blood on the fly tech ?
SQ42 not being in beta like you assumed?
SQ42 leaving alpha is enough to make my month 🥰
Server Meshing still being a backroom experiment?
You mean SM working pretty well on a small active area with complex interactions between each server (seeing/shooting/moving objects from one server to another) ?
Do you realise that what we had seen is more complex than what is needed for the first implementation of it within a JP Stanton/Pyro where there will be no shooting (and perhaps even no sight of other ships) during the change of server ?
Adding this tech during a jump is the simplest possible in-game scenario. I'm really pleased by what I've seen.
Some news from a french interview with Turbulent, they are beyond the prototype point has they work now to extract the mission system from the server to be able to pass also the missions from one server to another. Really good news !
The rivers thing?
They are cool in game, don't you think?
They still aren't roads 😭
Yes, but they will come one day because, sooner or larter, the vast majority of what CIG talk about make it to the game. It's cool to follow a game that add cool elements each patch.I know some other games that have given up.
