Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

This happens to me on my NVMe M.2 SSD.
With my 64 GB of DDR4 3200 RAM.
With my AMD RX 7600 8 GB GPU.
With my AMD Ryzen 5 5600 CPU.

You have no recourse, LittleAnt, but to either pretend that it's the user's fault, or acknowledge that the game is so poorly optimized, as to be next to useless even on higher power systems.
How is your pagefile set ?

Hopefully automatically by the OS, as properly applies in 99.9% of usercases.

My pagefile is set to a separate NVMe 256Gb Micron SSD, as I could just not find any better use for it - and always it makes no difference to SC.
You are ok so. The long loading bug at first start can appear on some systems on 3.20. I don't know if it has been corrected in 3.21.

How do you find salvaging ? Do you like it ? And the new sand caves ?
I've seen other people do salvaging, it seems boring. I want some action

Do the sand caves have sand worms in them? If not, then I'm not interested.

SC suffers from annual delays thus it's taking over 10 years and $600 million. There is no other game that has been so poorly managed. The graphics in Squadron 42 are no better than what Unreal Engine 5 is capable of.

CIG tried hard to promote their Star Engine at Citizencon 2023, yet showed nothing of the tools and backend. It's probably a lot worse to use as a developer than UE5.
If it was any other company with accountability there would have been repercussions and people loosing their job. CIG treating their backers like publisher rings very true now except backers don't hold any power over CIG like Microsoft did. So Citcon2023 is another year of promising the game to be, but not anything set in stone, its just a venue to make non-promises.

Why is this Star Engine thing coming up again, is CIG running out of ideas to peffle for money they have to resort to this? What makes it theirs to lilscense out unless they got the rights from the settlement in the last law suit?
This Star Engine thing sounds like Cold Fusion. Promises to change the world but hadn't been proven to work.

Cool. Do you know a space game developped with UE5 I can follow ?

Mass Effect 4 is reportedly using Metahuman of UE5. Little else is known though.

Upcoming space games: The Outer Worlds 2, Moon Mystery, KOTOR remake, Dune Awakening, Eve Vanguard (first person game for Eve Online). Other engine games: Homeworld 3 (UE4), Falling Frontier (Unity). Hunternet Starfighter looks promising. Next year Starfield's creation kit will add a lot of new free mod content. They're not the same as SC, but will probably be finished long before SC 1.0.
