General / Off-Topic Sci-fi anything

Sci-Fi

Loved SG1 and SGU but never quite got into SG-Atlantis. Had 10 glorious years of SG and then with the advent of P2P I didnt have to put up with the dodgy Australian TV networks version of airing a "series" with 1 or 2 month breaks due to whatever seasonal sports were on.
Probably a bit lame for scifi but I have to admit to being a Smallville fan, particularly the last few seasons.
Looking forward to next season of Falling Skies.

Sci-Fi continued

As far as Doctor Who goes, it stops at Tom Baker for me.

Read about the re-make of Blake's 7 and watched a few interviews with Paul Darrow......I don't think it's possible to cast his role....he made the show I believe. It would still be awesome to see it done with modern CGI effects. Bit like BSG was so much better the second time around.(Hmmmmm.....Six)

David Tennant reignited my excitement about Dr Who... truly talented actor..

this new series on Sci Fi reminds me of Space Precinct , anyone watch it?? Obviously it was only me coz it got axed...

It has the feel of a low budget Star Trek Wanna be but some of the make up looks good...

As this is Sci-Fi anything im gonna bring in a new candidate to talk about....

This i thought was brilliant when i was a kid...For the day the effects were awsome considering it was all Real Models and camara angles to make the people look small....Even looked better than Honey i shrunk the kids as far as effects go :)

Anyone ever seen the "Space Argument" sketches from the animated sketch show "Modern Toss"?

Copious amounts of swearing involved, with two men sent to work in space who absolutely hate each other. The mood goes from passive-aggressive, to... well... aggressive.

This one is one of my favourites. Parental advisory, etc.

on a completely different note, Films that I wouldn't mind seeing as a big budget remake movie.

Forbidden Planet
When worlds collide
The First men in the Moon

Well, if we're going with time travel movies, I'm going to have to throw in FAQ About Time Travel, Los Chronocrimines/Timecrimes, and 11 Minutes Ago as three of my favourites. I'm trying to think of more words to qualify them, but I'm too much of a time travel nut to actually give an opinion on them, so I'll just leave it at that.

Well I caught the reruns of this on Channel 4 on Sunday mornings when I was a kid. Yeah was regular viewing in my house, reminded me a LOT of Star Trek for some reason. A lot of the same actors (the week to week guest stars, not the regulars).

Although i dont always agree remakes for great films, would be interesting to see these ones get a new make over, i quite liked Tom Cruises War of the Worlds remake for instance.

The First men in the moon was probably the film that got me into sci-fi in the 70s, totally blew me away as a kid. The beginning hooked me in, when the supposedly first astronauts on the moon found a Union Jack!

Starts tomorrow night on SyFy UK. Could be good, could be bad.

Bad! :p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNgHMKdWka0 the women of defiance want us to know they are powerful, and they tell us...repeatedly!

hehe actually it might be good, looks ok, but just have a feeling it will follow many well worn story lines, humans/aliens working together, hating each other, loving each other.........hope theres a good hook to keep us guessing

Now if its The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones, you can never be sure who will survive or not..........that i like!

I think the hook might be that season 2 will be heavily influenced by the Defiance MMO that was released recently.

Play the game to make the story. Not sure how true this will end up to be, but it could get messy.

TC's WOTW was garbage IMHO. It had nothing on the original series, or the audio book (original maybe with the NASA final chapter addon) and serpently nothing like the stage show.

Yeah.. Like the movie DOOM. They tried to make it based on the game, but the game was all about a portal to hell, whereas the movie was a crappy attempt with a plot of dna experimentation on the moon. I'd of rather they made a film directly of the game. It'd have a better plot for one thing.
