Sigh... okay, I guess... but these never seem as successful as the one by RandomGoat.
I don't always understand why you respond with "sigh", because these are legitimate questions.Sigh... okay, I guess... but these never seem as successful as the one by RandomGoat.
Naturally older wishlists will become more popular. Randomgoat's wishlist was always advertised as the wishlist for every habitat animal related from when the game was still in earlier stages of dlc releases - more people were hopeful for dlcs full of these amazing animals that keep getting requested. Fast forward to today, there are many meta wishlists that try to address the long standing issues of Randomgoat's wishlist but the player base is less enthusiastic about future content and more wishlists mean Votes are spread thin instead of a localised wishlist.Sigh... okay, I guess... but these never seem as successful as the one by RandomGoat.
I would think both, as the roster of this year does mimic higher requests of randomgoat's wishlist compared to others. I have a feeling though new wishlists are just as popular, it can't be a coincidence that the last 2 updates have patched very specific bug fixes that have been present for years when my feature wishlist mentions them in detail. So even though it’s outdated, would frontier look at random goats wishlist cause it has more participants, or would they look at more recent wishlists?
Because these things seem a little pointless. I get that RandomGoat's thread old... but these new threads are never as popular as the original.I don't always understand why you respond with "sigh", because these are legitimate questions.
Random Goat's thread is very outdated. Views have changed and desires have changed, too. While it's much later in the game's lifespan, it still is good to know the general wants that the community is asking for. At least, if the devs still see it, they'll get many ideas of what's still in demand
However, there are dozens of wishlists that people create on here from Africa wishlist all the way to petting zoo wishlist. I would think it would be easier to follow one, even if it’s outdated.I would think both, as the roster of this year does mimic higher requests of randomgoat's wishlist compared to others. No, of course they aren't. The life of PZ is coming to an end, so it makes sense that these new wishlists aren't as popular.Because these things seem a little pointless. I get that RandomGoat's thread old... but these new threads are never as popular as the original.
All in order. The function of the points system uses all 50 for the favorite and combined list. The first 25 are used with the traditional counting system and general animal list.Thank you for doing this, @SuzieSky
So animals 1-25 should be in priority order, but animals 26-50 don't need to be in any order?
This has been pretty much my take on things since the first meta-list was started years ago. The whole point of a meta-list is surveying what people would value the most in the game, yet in all of these meta-lists there are numerous rules and limitations. Meaning that in the end, none of the meta-lists that have been made on the forums have provided an accurate gauge of what people are truly wanting.I say let people vote for whatever they want…. If someone wants a unicorn they should feel free. In the end things that aren’t possible don’t really matter and probably won’t get many votes anyway.
No one is forcing anyone to participate. The wishlist is supposed to be about habitat animals, and plenty of people seemed to participate. It's actually kind of rare that someone gets confused and adds birds, extinct animals, 4x4 exhibit animals, or something tiny like hamsters that I have to exclude. The only time I remember a "fight" on this thread was over whether or not aquatics should be excluded, which is why I'm asking about it now. It’s pointless to do this. This won’t show anything new. Just the same people requesting the same species with mediocre number of participants.
Come take part but remember that you can vote on only what we’ve decided is going to be good for the future of the game.

Assuming you're talking about habitat animals, which restrictions do you have a problem with? But any creature that has a true biological presence/record should be allowed to be voted for. And for the claims that votes would be “wasted” in the loosening of rules/parameters, isn’t the vote only truly wasted if it was used on something that the voter didn’t actually value the most? Because again, isn’t accurate/full-picture data the whole point of a survey/meta-list anyway?
I agree in the first part because there are so many wishlists right now I dont think another one is really gonna help that much. It’s pointless to do this. This won’t show anything new. Just the same people requesting the same species with mediocre number of participants.

That's exactly what i came to when building my free-update metawishlist (for everything except animal additions), to accurately represent the submitted data i had to both allow people to voice their opinions freely with no limitations and avoid personal bias as much as possible. The result was one very complicated wishlist but with my skills i managed to find a good way to organise a huge mass of data in simple terms. I have random votes from the basic animal improvements to the extremely controversial suggestions like egglaying but i cant ignore someones voices because i personally disagree with them - sure its only 1 or 2 votes but their personal wishes were recorded.I know we all have our biases for what seems the most useful/practical in Planet Zoo, but surveys really should try to remove personal bias if the intention is accurate data.
So what if a Vampire Squid gets a couple votes? It’s not going to be at the top of the meta-list, and at least the voters who wanted it actually had their voices heard.
No, it’s nothing to do with what’s probable - the question is what you would like to have, not what you think it’s likely we’ll get.I agree in the first part because there are so many wishlists right now I dont think another one is really gonna help that much.
I dont agree on the second part though. You can't say its the community deciding whats best for the games future, its what is the most probable.
So what? If someone wants to ‘waste’ their vote on something that’ll never happen that’s their problem. We haven't got a single flying bird or fully aquatic animal since the launch of the game, so why should they be part of the wishlist when we dont even know what frontiers plan is for these or if they can even do it? It makes no sense. Clearly frontier knows that people want birds and full aquatics, making another wishlist with them in it and having a manatee or eagle at the number one slot isnt gonna change their perspective.
Surely they’d be capable if just ignoring things they aren’t going to / can’t add?You said it yourself, it wont show anything new and it probably won't have a big impact on frontiers mind set as much as the rest of the wishlists do, but if we want a chance at showing them whats important to us when they've already said no to aquatics and free flying, theyre not gonna take a wishlist with those on it seriously. They're gonna pick a wishlist with stuff they can do.
