Community Event / Creation The Buckyball Racing Club Presents: Prison Brake II: Brake Harder (Swift-16 Championship, Race 7)

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me present the final leaderboard.

First of all, a clerical remark: due to the number of (new) entries, the final leaderboards will only show the final standing of each CMDR. Each of you knows how your race times improved (or not) during this last week.

Next, some statistics:
There have been 93 submissions for this race. 1 had to be discounted, and one was retracted by the CMDR, leaving a whopping total of 91 submissions to check out. The racers with the most submissions have been CMDR Sulu and CMDR Tobias von Brandt with seven entries each. A propos - CMDR Tobias von Brandt, could you get some Heat Dispersion Plates for your girl?
Race entries were almost enevly distributed between Open Unlimited and Regulation Cobra: 51 entries (55%) for Open Unlimited and 42 (45%) for Regulation Cobra.
Most popular ship in Open Unlimited was the iCourier (31% of entries), followed by the Viper Mk.III (24%) and Sidewinder (16%).

And finally, the leaderboards.
In Regulation Cobra, we have 15 new or improved entries, out of 23.
Coming in at the bottom, nominally between places 21 and 22, yours truly in 8-Balls Of Fire. Next, on 20th place, our delightful artist (you should visit the Discord to see his works) CMDR MrIndigo in Pablo Honey. CMDR Willyum-71 follows in Dry-Capping on place 19. After this, we get, on places 17 to 13, spread out over exactly one minute, CMDRs Sinister Hedgehog in Miles Behind (17), FearlessF21 in Ninky-Nok (16), Heliaxx in Name (15), psykit in The joy of hex (14) and Martinjameson in There Goes Me Whippet! (13).
Coming to the countdown, we have CMDR Tobias von Brandt in Sag Wagon on 10th place. CMDR Sulu in Bit of 16 sneaks past him onto 8th place. CMDR Epaphus in Baller follows on 7th. Despite a promising start, CMDR Kevin The Stabber has to content himself with 6th place in Marion Cobretti. And on the last of the non-podium places, we see CMDR Ozric in Spoiler Not Included on 4th.
On the podium in Regulation Cobra class, CMDR Alec Turner in Ask Again Later is pushed down to third place.
CMDR Bruski, breaking the 17 minute barrier, slams into second place with You Break 16 Tons... and a motiviating soundtrack.
And on first place in Regulation Cobra class, CMDR Sgurr in Class of 84 was able to improve his last time by a full 30 seconds.

Coming to Open Unlimited, we "only" get 7 new entries.
Not really worth to mention is again your race host who pummeled his Federal Corvette Roll On around the course, because it can be done. Further up (definitely further up) the leaderboard, we see CMDR MrIndigo again, this time in his Viper Mk.III Antic Pants, painting himself into 13th place. On 11th place, we get CMDR Martinjameson in his iEagle Where's One's Whippet.
The countdown again starts with CMDR Tobias von Brandt on 10th place, this time in his Viper Mk.III Deathtrap. CMDRs Epaphus and Kevin The Stabber have swapped places and the former now sits on 6th place in Open Unlimited with his iCourier Raincoat Raft.

Nothing much else changes until we get to the podium. And even there, CMDR Darplata94 remains solid on third place.

<drumroll>

Both CMDRs Sgurr and Shaye Blackwood were able to shave off a little more time from their performance - 22 and 21 seconds, respectively. However, that single second difference in improvement was insufficient to make up for their 4 seconds distance on the last leaderboard, therefore, we have now, in Open Unlimited,
CMDR Sgurr in his Sidewinder Grow up to be a viper on second place
and
CMDR Shaye Blackwood in his Viper Mk.II Blackbird on first place.
Separated by three seconds.

Have a good night, and hopefully see you all in the next (and final) race of the Swift 16 series.

Wow - I'm genuinely surprised to still be on the podium in regulation ... 😵 but also 🥳
I may have to set the video of that run to music and upload it now!

Particular congratulations to @Darplata94. I kinda expect to always see Shaye, Sgurr and Bruski at the top there (no pressure 🙂) but those are some great results for DP, especially in Unlimited.

And commiserations to @Kevin The Stabber who kept me fighting back in regulation where I might otherwise have stayed away (and of course to @Ozric who's always a fierce regulation class opponent). I'm honestly not sure where that 17:04 came from and it's been a long time since I was quite so surprised (and delighted) by the size of a video file (and it's corresponding time) when I went to check it afterwards.

Fantastic racing everyone and huge thanks to @Ashnak for hosting a brilliant race.

Many congratulations to Sgurr and Shaye for your victories and to everyone who managed to complete the course! o7

With luck we have slowed the orbital period of Mitterrand Hollow by a few milliseconds with all our faceplants - keep it up!

Thanks to Ashnak for running this event that has stretched a few flight muscles and landing gear joints in equal measure. It has been tough but it has been a pleasure, thank you very much! I think my landings have probably improved and they have been a historical weak point of mine.

Pleased also that the Branshir managed to keep me out of the 1-point club; she's a fine ship! There are some very close times on the final leaderboard, which shows that the competition was intense.

See you all at the next one!
Fly fast!

Huge thanks to @Ashnak for hosting an incredibly challenging and fun race!

As with every other race this season, it involved some new skill or technique I had never done before that felt intimidating but that I had to tackle if I was going to race. In this race it was, of course, Mitterand Hollow. I'm still a long way from truly "mastering" it, but I found enough success to get on the board. (At least seven times! :ROFLMAO:) So, as with every other race this season, I leave it a far better pilot than I was 10 days ago! Congrats to all for your achievements and personal improvements this week!

Now to go pay off all my fines and fix up my battered landing gear in preparation for the next one... 🛠️

whooohooo - 11th and 12th place - onepointclub - gold member 😎

Very nice (and many times frustrating) race - thank you Ashnak for organizing and your patience with all the pictures and videos submitted!

Chapeau to all the racers - some might yield still some special tricks I am not familiar with. No idea where to scratch another 3.5mins in the regulation cobra runs o_O

o7 Buggyballers!

Huge congratulations to everyone who took part, it's really heartening to see so many people racing round like lunatics still. I'm so impressed by the fact there was only 3 seconds between Shaye and Sgurr in Unlimited, that's just insane :D

I was really impressed by your time @Alec Turner and I'm glad that you held on for a podium place (only cause you beat me by more than the time I lost in the unrecorded run. A huge thanks to Ashnak for organising and running the race. Hope to see you all for the final race of the season, which I should probably start planning as I'm hosting :D
