Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Secretary bird is cool yes. But right now I prefer a bird with a new rig that is easy and likely to be reused in future packs. Waterfowls, ibises and such.

Only thing that can probably be made out of the secretary is the seriema. And then I actually prefer getting that first.

If we get the seriema first, I would believe that the secretary must be coming later.
If we get the secretary first, it could very well be just a one hit wonder.

Everyone in the planet zoo community will open their eyes and realize the absolute necessity of waterfowl and rabbits in the game... in time.

What's going to make you as an individual happy with what we get?

*My dream would be an animal Pack in december with grounded Birds and waterfolws
Bird Pack.png
  • Walrus
  • any kind of Hare/Rabbit
  • one grounded bird/Waterfowl per pack from now on

Wondering when you guys are gonna snap and realize how Frontier has embedded this almost extreme need of birds in the community on purpose. I really think it's too coincidental for it not to be completely intentional.

Also on the point of people denying the chances of a petting zoo pack, how is that any more nonsensical than denying they won't add birds? Both are pretty much needed and both are likely to happen imo.

And honestly regarding the whole petting zoo thing I do think that fits more as an update rather than a core part of a DLC. Like imagine they make the Latin America pack with coati, tamarin, rhea and mara + the free update adds guests feeding animals mechanics to make petting zoos? I think that would go more in line with how they have done things in the past, specially considering the game already has a lot of animals that are used in petting zoos.

Im just gonna paitently wait for my boy, maybe start building his habitat and then fake smile when he isnt in the Mountain pack cause its an undercover asia pack

I’m really hoping they make it in, but I’m not too confident of any animal besides the wolverine at this point. I’ve made a few habitats for them but otherwise I’ll just wait til announcements. And if my ill tempered mustelid friend doesn’t make it in, i guess I’ll put polar bears in instead

Existing ingame animals that could use feeding ingame mechanics for petting zoos:
  • Capybara
  • Rednecked wallaby
  • Red kangaroo
  • Emu
  • Quokka
  • Peafowl
  • Lemurs
  • Tortoises
  • Capuchin
  • Llama
  • Meerkat
  • Fallow deer
  • Prairie dog
  • Porcupine

They are quite a bunch once you list them, honestly what's stopping you from making petting zoos with these?

The casual fact that you dont find them in a petting zoos in a real zoo.
Also if you allready stretch it as far as possible, add the giraffe, they atleast actually have feeding and petting encounters in a few zoos unlike most of the other animals you listed

It feels like you are confusing petting zoos with up-close feeding experiences, where you typically pay quite a high price to go as a single person or a small group and feed an animal in their enclosure together with a keeper.

Some of those mentioned are more in that category. And some of the others are more just walk-through animals

Some of these are children’s zoo not petting zoo. I think they’re adorable but i I’m not petting a porcupine.

While I think these animals would be fun to have mechanics for feeding, I don’t think I would let a child touch an emu or a porcupine. Also I don’t know if I ever saw a zoo that allows prairie dogs to be in walkthrough exhibits.

"Alot of Animals"
Actual Pettung Zoo animals;
Lama, Dromedary, Camel, Fallowdeer

Big maybes:
Red Deer, Reindeer, Wild Waterbuffalo

Petting Zoo Staples:
Cattle, Pigs, Goats, Sheeps, Bunnys, Guinea Pigs, Duck, Geese, Chicken, Pony, Donkey
I think even the llama, camels and fallow deer are almost a stretch, since ive never seen one of them in an actual petting zoo. Could be wrong tho and they are just not kept in those settings where i am
