Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Yep. Hefty contrast, isn't it? Typical "French" artistic game on one hand and heavy sim on the other. Maybe they just found the balance to create diverse software that many others struggle with?
Makes you wonder, with that level of diverse competence, backed by the financial might of Microsoft...what would happen if they decided to combine the genres and make a game encompassing both? :)

Deflection, denial, discredit.

The MO of your typical SC faithful.

Careful - visions come cheap - making them come true is the art.
There are always creative leaps of faith becoming truth within dev companies that make the difference between the ordinary and the sublime...

Sucker Punch, a small and relatively unknown American game studio making the quintessential Japanese epic even the Japanese couldn't (or wouldn't) make with Ghost of Tsushima.
Naughty Dog, making the leap to what is still the industry benchmark for story driven and gameplay excellence with The Last of Us (1&2)...both of those lovelies tore my heart out and made me eat it :)
Guerilla Games with the release of Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West.
Rockstar Games, for letting me be a cowboy with RDR 1 & 2...
CD Projekt making the leap from game distribution to game development...

The creative leaps of talent are as almost endless as they never cease to surprise. :)

To be fair, CIG contradicted themselves a few times on that one.

Erin Roberts in Jan 2014:

Let's be frank, apologies to @Frank , CIG, at least according to CIG, based in their early comments, have already funded the best damn space sim ever, both MMO and single player campaign, 100 times over.

If we are to follow CIGs narrative, then what they must be producing now is the most AAAAAAA game of all the AAAAAAAAA games ever, since the original concept, fully funded at 5.5 million, was meant to sweep away any ohter game in existence.

I must say, i look forward to the game being released that is so much better than any game that ever existed, fully worthy of the title of the game Roberts said he could deliver for 20% of the cost of being made by a traditional publisher, that will cement his place in gaming history as the man who did it all!

Or maybe, just maybe, cement his position as the biggest scammer of all time.

Not that it will matter to Chris, he's already made bank. Salary plus dividends ensures that he and his family will live well for the rest of their lives, even if funding dried up tomorrow.

Remember when CIG said (back in 2018ish?) that even if funding dried up they would use the funds from the release of SQ42 to finish SC? Yeah, more like if funding dried up they would still be able to put their kids through college.

No apologies necessary. If you want to be Frank, go right ahead. They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Chris Roberts has flattered a hell of a lot of folks with Star Citizen

Went on a cleaning offensive in my SC account and melted all the redundant cosmetic armour sets and ship paint jobs I had sitting in my hangar back to store credit... the paints were mostly for ships I no longer own due to past CCU's or melting sprees.

Ended up with enough store credit to buy the cargo variant of the Crusader C-1 Spirit :)

That's the spirit!
I don't mind when it costs me nowt that I haven't already spent...there's no monetary value attached to store credit except to buy more paint jobs or the occasional ship. I've long since spent what I'm ever going to spend in the dumpster fire...cosmetic paints aside. I've no objection to forking out a few bucks here and there for them since I can trade them back in for the equivalent value in store credit when required :)

This kind of thing is the promise of so many IRL cults and scams. The completely new world where this time you won't be a loser if you just dedicate yourself to this and only this until death. Personally I'd pick 72 virgins over spaceships.
I'd suggest he tries NMS, and on a personal level, I'd rather have 72 experienced, professional and enthusiastic companions, i may be an old dog, but I like learning new tricks..... YMMV

I didn't know that is still possible to "melt" ships and equipment and exchange for some other ships....I was under the impression that Croberts forbid that few years ago...
