Winter 2023 DLC Speculation

Looking forward to see what we will get if we will hear something from them this week. I'm having a mixed feelings about the next DLC, I hope it will be something good.

Speaking of otters, I would love an update to have to edit water salinity. Species, like the Crocs, can tolerate fresh or saltwater, while others, like the pinnipeds, require saltwater, and then some, like hippos, need fresh water. Just a thought
Yes, it's interesting because you can choose rough water or calm water, and colour it reddish like if it has a lot of silt, or greenish like an algal bloom. I think it's because salt water and fresh water look just the same, salinity doesn't have a real difference in the look that can't be already achieved with the colour editing.
The main playability impact I can think of would be to disallow you from doing a mixed aquatic exhibit with salt water and fresh water animals (which anyway isn't really a thing currently).
It would be very realistic if some plants couldn't be placed in salt water (or in fresh water for marine species), but plants work in the game just like objects. You can place a cactus under the water or a palm in the snowy tundra and the plant doesn't die or anything. And that's probably for the better because it allowed us to use plants in more creative ways.

Not that I want the ABB, but I just love the way he sits there and waits for a beer.

I am pretty optimistic but at the end I do not care so much about the actual animals WE get. The highly discussed Packs (Mountains, Latin America, General Taiga/Tundra pack) will surely Bring at least 2-3 animals which are higher on my priority Wishlist. And that is a good value in my opinion. And with the other animals I also can Work. The only Packs I personally do not want to have are fully Marines or fully exhibits Pack (even If the fully exhibits have Flying birds) but I doubt this will happen. Every other Standard Pack cannot let to disappointment for me personally. Perhaps I am easy to please 😃. But I really do Not mind another Cat (There are 2-3 further Cats I really would Like to See within the game), bears (I am even the opinion that it is time for a new one) or Dog (Bush Dog would be a really cool addition. It Looks so different compared to all the other bigger dog species).

If it will be Like all the Last 3 years the DLC will be released on the second Tuesday of December (12th this year). If we get the expected animal Pack DLC announcement should be this year. If it is a Scenery Pack DLC announcement could be this or next week. Whatever it is. Time is really Short now to get some News.
Again, it depends. They switched up the reveal/release cycle again this last time. Because it's been 14 days for Scenery packs too for a long while now. I could easily see them do an animal pack in 7 days as well.

Given their two week annual break, a release on the 5th of December would actually give them more breathing room to push an update in the week of the 12th if there are major bugs; because if they release it on the 12th they literally only have a few days. If the annual break is still a thing of course :p

I Just repeated the normal pattern of the Last 3 years. And I also mentioned that a Scenery Pack Presentation could start this or next week. The Last time we only had a one week pattern for the Oceania Pack as WE were used to at the beginning.
The safest assumption is to follow the pattern we got until now. Meaning Release probably at the 12th of December. DLC announcement for animal Pack somewhen this week. For a Scenery Pack the announcement could be this week (2 weeks of Presentation) or next week (1 week Presentation). Sure, there could be again a new pattern but it makes no real sense to discuss a possible new pattern by Frontier.
Personally I expect DLC announcement somewhen this week.

Well the entire point I was trying to make is that it kinda does make sense. 😂 It's not irrational tbh, it's a logical possibility based on earlier patterns when it comes to their December DLCs. 🤷‍♂️
This Info did Not reach me correctly 😃. But yes, it was also my intention to express it like this. Following the patterns from Last year is the safest and the logical way but Frontier can always change it to a new way 🙂

Putting my two cents in on the otter discussion a few pages ago--it's pretty much just a proxy for whether you're from North America or Europe/Asia. From my perspective as someone who lives in the Northeastern US, almost every zoo of every size has North American river otters and they're often the linchpin of children's zoo or local wildlife sections. So they're very important to me but do nothing for people not from the US or Canada, and vice versa for the Eurasian river otter.

What’s everyone’s one guess as to what we’ll get in the update? Since that’s probably what we’ll hear about first.
Maybe a new restaurant type? I’m also thinking it could be a guest-animal feeding station. Off the top of my head a number of animals could have guests buy and toss food to them:
  1. Giraffe
  2. Peafowl
  3. Emu and Ostrich
  4. Water Buffalo
  5. Llama
  6. Reindeer
  7. Seals and sea lions
  8. Penguins
If it’s a mountain dlc I can imagine yaks being added to that list, or if we get a Eurasian DLC maybe some mandarin ducks?
